Earlier this week, director Michelle MacLaren left Wonder Woman citing "creative differences" and many fans were wondering about the future of the film, which isn't set to release in theaters until 2017.

Luckily, the void was quickly filled when Patty Jenkins closed the deal today to be the new director of the film, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Jenkins was, at one point, going to direct Thor: Dark World for Marvel. Jenkins isn't new to directing and both wrote and directed the 2003 film Monster, which landed Charlize Theron an Oscar. She's also directed episodes of Entourage, Arrested Development, and the first two episodes of AMC's The Killing.

Hopefully, the film can get right back on its feet and continue on with pre-production, seeing as there wasn't much time without a director for the film, but adding on a new person means they have to play catch-up.

Wonder Woman is slated to release on June 23, 2017.
