Off My Mind: Wonder Woman's Strappy Costume

Wonder Woman's new costume caused an uproar when it was first unveiled. I never officially commented on it. I understand and appreciate the desire to keep the original. I do not have a problem with the new look because Wonder Woman has had several different costumes over the years (here's a look at eight of them). Bottom line, Wonder Woman's costume is just about as iconic as Superman's. I don't see DC making a permanent change with her look just like they didn't with Superman's when he turned blue. 
 
While I welcomed the temporary change in Wonder Woman, it was the recent issue #602 that made me say "What the heck?" to myself as I read it. Actually my question was more, "What the heck are all those straps for?" 
 
It's amazing how different the new costume looks without the jacket. Seeing all those straps makes me wonder how does she even put it on and what purpose do they serve. I think I may have the answer to why she needs all those straps.

One thing that's certain is this Wonder Woman will not be able to do a quick change (remember how she was depicted as being able to spin around and change into her costume?). All those straps will take time to put on and (I assume) tighten. 
 
There are lots of answers we don't have with this new direction of Wonder Woman. I've been wondering where she even got her costume. Unless I've missed something, we came in seeing Wonder Woman in her new costume, on the run and not recalling what happened before.  
 
Now my familiarity with woman's clothing and straps only extends to what my wife wears (and she does not own anything with a ton of straps like this). I can only conclude that along with the bits and pieces that Wonder Woman has seemed to have forgotten, she's also forgotten about the magic of double stick tape. The straps will make sure she doesn't have to adjust her top to keep it from falling during a fight. All those straps will definitely keep it in place. It just doesn't look too comfortable having your biceps strapped down like that. 
 
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe she hasn't forgotten about the double stick tape. I'd be curious to hear what others think about all those straps and why they're part of her costume.
