Off My Mind: Do Villains Hang Out Together?

Wouldn't it be helpful to compare notes on their enemies?

What do supervillains do when they're not locked up in a maximum security prison or asylum? Most likely some are spending time thinking up their next major plan to rule the world or at least a way to steal some cash. It's possible some may have a normal life and possibly even friends or families.
It's almost hard to think about villains during their down-time. You would think it would be hard for them to have a normal life when they're not going toe-to-toe with the costumed heroes. Can you picture a super-villain going golfing with his neighbor? What about attending a weekly P.T.A. meeting?

The logical solution would be for supervillains to hang out with other supervillains. Although, there are some reasons why this isn't exactly possible or a good idea.

The main problem with supervillains is their egos. The typical villain probably led a life of being bullied or ridiculed. Once they gained their super-powers or gadgets, they found themselves at a new level. Simply put, villains don't play well with each other. Look at all the supervillain team-ups. They rarely last (although there are some exceptions). Supervillains might band together for a job or two and then take time off to be on their own. You don't often see the Sinister Six or Frightful Four doing all their jobs together.

If villains hung out together too often, they might draw unwanted attention to themselves. Supervillains are usually at the top of the police's wanted list and their faces have been photographed on the numerous times they've been arrested. A sharp police officer, detective or even superhero could easily spot a group of suspicious looking fellows.

In the Marvel Universe there have been several locations for supervillains to hang out in, the Bar With No Name. It would be the perfect place for them to hang out at, have a drink and most importantly, compare notes.

Why do villains constantly try to fight the same heroes? Wouldn't they learn their lesson after half a dozen times getting beat? More importantly, each time they do get beat, they should learn from their mistakes. Why did they get defeated this time? This is valuable information.

This is why supervillains need to try to overcome their egos and arrogance and talk to other supervillains. If they could get organized, they would be able to learn about a hero's fighting style if they haven't gone up against them before. They could find out what a hero's preferred method of capturing them is.

This all sounds good but there is another danger in hanging out together. In Punisher War Journal #4, a group of villains gathered to pay their respects to Stilt-Man after he was shot in the crotch by the Punisher. Punisher ended up sneaking in, poisoning them and blowing the place up.

While it may be a good idea for villains to hang out with each other to learn from each other's mistakes, they just need to be careful where they do it. Do you think it's possible for supervillains to ever safely band together to defeat all of their enemies and rule the world?
