2013 is a huge year for Superman. Get the scoop on all of the titles here.
The Man of Steel is going to steal the spotlight next year. Not only does he have a rather awesome new film coming out but there's also plenty to look forward to in his comics. Today at New York Comic-Con the panel was packed with big names, including Grant Morrison, Andy Diggle, Tony Daniel and much more.
Before he departs ACTION COMICS, fan favorite write Grant Morrison has an action packed story to tell. "Super Doomsday" (who we first met in issue #9) is going to take on Kal-El in issue #15 and Morrison remarked the story is filled with "lots of fighting, lot of pain." Also, ACTION ANNUAL (Sholly Fisch, Cully Hamner) will have New 52 Superman's first encounter with kryptonite. It'll also include Superman's familiar faces -- Lex Luthor, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.
Come issue #18 of ACTION COMICS, writer Andy Diggle and artist Tony Daniel will take over. Both joked about the title being a refreshing change of pace -- with Diggle remarking he often writes darker characters and Tony joking how most of his illustrations take place at night. As for the new costume, Diggle said the end of SUPERMAN #0 reveals the attire and it will be explained over time. Tony Daniel's promo for ACTION COMICSTo top it off, there's also the upcoming Superman crossover "H'el on Earth." The Justice League will make a cameo and we were treated to images of Cyborg and Flash on covers. However, the real highlight was Superboy and Ravager getting funky with a defeated Superman serving as a third wheel.
To make matters even more interesting, Superboy is now sporting Superman's costume. The panel remarked that they intentionally tried to delay Superman meeting Superboy for as long as possible to make it an especially special (but not good) moment. Matt Idelson added Superboy is "going to like Batman more than he likes Superman." O la la.Oh, and then there was this little announcement about two people I've never heard of -- I think their names were Jim Lee & Scott Snyder --behind a new Superman title. They walked up to the panel and the room went appropriately crazy. Check out G-Man's feature for all of the details.
2013 is going to be one heck of a 75th anniversary for Superman. Dream team new title aside, what are you looking forward to the most for Kal-El?
the picture of Action comics 16 looks great Superdoom and Superman fighting plus Kal in that black suit looks cool, Im looking forward to H’el On Earth” storyline and Superboy wearing that kryptonian armor looks cool plus that cover of Rose and Kon looks great I wonder if those two were hook-up it would be interesting if there do kinda hope truth can't wait.

@sethysquare: You won't find Fresh Hell on Comixology (unless you buy all the Teen Titans issues it was a back up story to). I had to order the trade online. But definitely give it a read, it does an excellent job at defining the type of "hero" that Rose is.

@sethysquare I think you misinterpreted what I meant. When I say hero, I don't mean a goody two shoes like superman, I just mean fighting for the right side, like you said. She's always had her own morals and marched to a much different beat, but the only time she's ever been a villain was when she was drugged by her father. That's what I love aboit Rose, the fact that she's always been a "hero" but gone about it in a way unique to her. If you've never read "Ravager - Fresh Hell", I highly recommend it. It's a great story that follows Rose and helps define her as her own type of "hero", one that is much different than the likes of Superman. I just want her fighting for the right side again, but without losing everything that makes her unique and awesome. That's what I meant. I don't like her as just another blood thirsty villain, I find it degrading to her as a character, though at least it opens her up to some real development for when she comes back to the "right" side.
I do love Superman and I don't find him a goody two shoe, lol. But Rose just isn't that kinda hero.
You're right. I think many fans including me are waiting and hoping shes starts fighting for the right side soon. But now that she is a villain, I think it shows us a story that haven't been seen before, so I think its actually new and fresh. I've never read fresh hell and I'll try to search it on comixology. But like I was saying, I think Rose is being placed an usually big amount of focus for being yet another villain. So I'll like to see her get some development first before taking the heroes journey.
Its kinda like what they did with Superboy. He was always a pretty popular character, but its only until recently that he got such a number of fan base and sales was much better compared to previously. I believe what helped was that the writers were able to slowly fleshed out his character and also the young justice animated series where he was sorta an anti hero from the start. Now he is appearing on like so many books. Superman, Supergirl, Teen Titans, Ravagers, Legion Lost.
If anyone were to get a solo series from the titans, I can foresee Rose being given one since there are still so many mysteries and development to get to. With Tim Drake being the other titan most likely to get a solo.

If thats the case why are you complaining now? dont get me wrong i understand if youre upset with the changes they have made to superman, but why here? i mean, i didnt see anything too controversial or something like that in this post

I actually hope she doesn't turn into a "hero" since she never really have been a hero even when she was on teen titans.
But I do hope they take their time to slowly flesh her out as a character and show real character development and then do the heroes journey but ONLY when the time is right.
They've already set her up as an awesome kickass villain, now we need to know more about her back story and her motivation. Then we need an event to bring her back to be fighting on the right side, but not necessarily a hero that Supeman is. The worst thing to do is to rush her into being a hero, IMO.
I am intrigued by her appearance in Superboy Annual though. I think Eddy Barrows is going to draw a kickass Rose Wilson. She already looks fantastic on the cover.
I just read about Rose Wilson on this site since a lot of posts talked about Ravager and I wanted to ask why is she a popular character if she seems to like killing meta's in the new 52?
If the 2012 DC powers-that-be wrote U.S. history books, today's children would be taught that Thomas Jefferson was a leather-jacket-wearing thug with serious anger control issues, that George Washington was a teenaged Jack Baeur wanna-be who became president only because he thought it might make him look "tough", and Ben Franklin was a skinny former Illuminati secret agent who investigated lightning only because he was hoping to develop electroshock torture techniques.
Umm... which are those "depressing news", because i didnt see anything controversial or game-changing on those statements

@supermanfan1234: The promo art has a different suit, it might only be for one issue but it's going to be the same idea as marvel finding a way to put spider man in a black suit when spiderman 3 came out. Its brand recognition plain and simple (why they had to do such a different look in the first place is beyond me).
naa supes will still have his new 52 costume and i dont think they would change it just for a movie,if that were the case batman would have a black suit by now.

He is wearing a new costume but who says it's forever. I don't know why everyone is getting upset. Also when I look at it I don't see darker. To me is just looks futuristic.

Yes thats right Earth has a yellow sun in which Kal-el gets his power and Krypton has a red sun as you can see being hinted at in Daniels drawing. Maybe he is wearing the suit because it could somehow converts the red sun radiation into the yellow sun radiation or something. Just wait and see what happens lol
Its not complaining its just being realistic, he's going to be getting a costume change because of the movie because DC wants any kid walking by a comic shop to say "oh it looks like what he was wearing in the movie" in an attempt to drive sales. I'm not bashing it or calling it bad business but call a spade a spade, this is not a coincidence and it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for the MOS movie. I'm sure there will be a reason it more then Superman saying "oh hey let's try black today" but this comic and that look is being made completely 100% because of the movie.

I'm pretty neutral on it myself. Superboy isn't near my first choice for Rose, but... there's worse guys she could have been paired up with (*coughJasonToddcough*). As long as she gets some real character development soon and becomes a hero again, I can live with it.

@Or35ti: Let's hope so... After the appalling writing of Superman, hopefully Lobdell can do him some respect. Morrison is leaving but hopefully AC will be in good hands with Diggle and Daniels... and then Snyder and Lee are doing Man of Steel. Superman may get the respect he deserves in year 2.
