NYCC 2012: Marvel NOW! Join the ReEvolution Panel Recap

Find out what Marvel NOW! has in store for Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Cap and the F4!

Yet another room was absolutely packed to hear the latest news surrounding Marvel NOW! This time, the location was filled to hear the newest scoop for Marvel's most famous faces.

First up was discussion of the most popular movie character they have to offer: IRON MAN. Kieron Gillen is taking over the title and he says the read will be "high velocity and a completely different suit each issue." He added that each issue could be read as a standalone as well but they will indeed mesh together to form a greater plot.

== TEASER ==

Jason Aaron then spoke up to chat about his upcoming run called THOR: THE GOD OF THUNDER. Aaron said his focus was to "strip down the supporting cast and focus on Thor." We'll actually get a look at three Thors during the run: his earlier and more aggressive years, present Thor and finally King Thor set thousands of years in the future. Each will bring a drastic personality change to the title and future Thor is missing an arm and an eye, making him look just like Odin. What's pretty cool is Thor will wear the Destroyer's arm for combat.

Rick Remender will continue with Captain America's story, revealing that a good half of the first ten issues will focus on Steve growing up and "how he earned becoming the hero who he is." Remender also pointed out Arnim Zola has never really been an A-list villain... but he's seeking to change the villain's status with the new run.

Mark Waid SMASH! The writer was incredibly enthusiastic about his new title INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK, adding "this is so much fun to write." The key focus here will be Bruce Banner's realization that the Green Goliath is often the one to make an impact -- be it positive or negative. He's determined to prove he's still on par with the likes of Reed Richards and Tony Stark, so he made a deal with S.H.I.E.L.D.

The agreement essentially is they'll give Banner access to the resources and technology he needs and in return, he has a plan if he begins to Hulk out. Waid says don't view Hulk as a bomb... view him as a cannon. The deal is if he begins to turn green, drop/launch him at a target in need of smashing. Additionally, Waid noted that Banner has leverage over the spy organization and he'll provide hints along the way.

When it comes to cosmic matters, Matt Fraction's FANTASTIC FOUR will take the team in a new direction. Reed will bring his children along on their adventures, putting the focus back on the core of the family. That said, it was also alluded that Reed has a secret reason for making the younglings tag along. Meanwhile, while the team is off in space, FF will fill take their place back on Earth. The team is only supposed to cover for 4 minutes, but the original never returns and that's when things get interesting. Marvel Executive Editor Tom Brevoort confidently said, "Odds are good FF is your favorite book," and the team was summarized as "ill-prepared misfits" that have to step up.

yeah, that could be because he has a TV set for a face on his chest, and he blew chunks even way back when. Please.

Man, I want all of them!!!

I don't like any of these covers from Marvel Now. and not picking any of these books up

Posted by MisterKetch

Oh geez what the heck is wrong with the Hulk? That cover looks terrible... geez I can't even look at that. I hate multiple variant covers but geez I'll gladly pay a higher price to avoid having to get that issue 1.

Iron Man comic could be a lot of fun but when I hear new suit an issue I'm reminded of going to the toy store as a kid and having to pick between stealth iron man and snow patrol iron man (bad example of course stealth would win out) but idk im not entirely ready to write it off.

From what I read before Thor is going to be teaming up with his older and younger self to fight something called a "god butcher" i can't say im thrilled Thor doesn't strike me as someone interesting enough to carry a solo without a good supporting cast.. but hey maybe he's more interesting in the past or future.

and Captain America... not reading it after AvX, Im going to have to stomach him in Uncanny Avengers and probably another avengers title but no way am i dealing with that creep in a solo. (I support cyclops if you haven't guessed)

Is it just me or do these titles seem really underwhelming? Fantastic Four might be interesting but I never got the whole kid hero thing just seems so horribly reckless/inappropriate for there parents to agree to.

I guess FF and Hulk are the two things im most excited for and even then...meh

But seriously Marvel "Miss Thing" REALLY! better be a drag queen or else I won't be able to take her seriously.

Looking forward to Iron Man, Thor and Fantastic Four. Will continue with Captain America to see how it goes. Hulk and FF I think I will hold off on getting as plot in Hulk looks stupid and the art in FF looks bad, I know Allred has his fans but I am not one of them, I just can't bring myself to like his work.

Bianchi cover makes Hulk look like a big gorilla. This was blows it out the water. I think people are sleeping on this run of the Hulk by Waid. I for one will be getting it!

Posted by TheAcidSkull

@AnonymousMC: Thank, don't know why the staff decided to upload the gorilla hulk instead of this baby , i am soooo excited for this, i like Waids ideas, and this is gonna be awesome, HULK SMASH! :DDD

Posted by Duke_Nasty

I'll give Thor a chance and maybe Iron Man. That Cap cover is great but Marvel has made me hate Cap.

Posted by kid Apollo

the cover for Cap is awesome! and im interested to see what the Hulk can do when hes working for shield, aside from that not much else is catchin my eye, and thats saying something considering im big into Thor

Posted by Arkhamc1tizen

indestructible hulk is a must get

probably captain america too

all the rest meh

"He's determined to prove he's still on par with the likes of Reed Richards and Tony Stark, so he made a deal with S.H.I.E.L.D." So THAT'S Banner's motive in becoming a SHIELD agent here or whatever he's planning to do, huh? But then again I like what Waid has said...treat Hulk like the cannon instead of an explosive, and that's why he's part of the organization. Keep him there and when he starts to get angry, use that to SHIELD's advantage to bust in the heads of SHIELD's enemies. I like that route, and can't wait for Indestructible Hulk to come out!

That picture doesn't look anything like the hulk.

I wonder what is going to happen to daredevil.....

He's upset that Hulk is always the one in the spotlight now and Banner feels as though he hasn't made any major contributions.  He wants to prove he can and thus the deal with SHIELD is made.  Sorry if I wasn't clear about that in the feature.

the only one I'm looking forward to in this group is Hulk

Mark Waid has said he will continue to write Daredevil. But I don't think it won't be very long before he decides to move on since he doing the new Hulk, something with Boom studios and he will be doing the new Green Hornet stuff next year. He's going to be busy busy it seems.

Posted by ThePilot

GOTTA HAVE THAT CAPTAIN AMERICA!

FF looks interesting. I'll probably give it up two 6 issues before subscribing or dropping

Hulk isn't really my taste, but i do love Waid's writing so i'll give it a shot maybe.

Fantastic Four = No

Iron man looks okay i guess, but I must admit I don't really care enough to pick it up

This

reminds me of this

Iron Lantern #1

@k4tzm4n: Now it makes sense to me. Your explanation coupled with Waid's words definitely make me hopeful for this title now!

Posted by direwolf143

ughh... i'm done with marvel. i'll just collect the back issues from 70's and 80's. marvel sucks now. omg how can they mangle their core characters like this? fantastic 6? cyborg hulk? odin looking thor? yuck.. no interest.

Posted by red_titan

The art work looks sort of old school in some of the issues. im diggin it.

Posted by Perfect 10

@Z3RO180: i used to think that back when i first saw it in Xstatix but now i love it, especially in izombie. one thing you can say is that its definitely unique

Posted by Smurfboy

Wow, some of you judge by the cover, eh? Seriously, though. Read the book before judge anything. :-\

When I was there I asked which Ant-Man is going to be in FF. It's going to be Scott Lang.
