New X-Men Movie Announced

X-Men director Bryan Singer just made a huge announcement on Twitter. What are you waiting for? Come see what it is.

Fox clearly has big plans for the massive roster of X-Men. Not only are they diving into Days of Future past next year, but we also know they're working on an X-Force movie, too. Even though they're still building the hype for X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer took to twitter and said something that makes the future very exciting. Apparently Iceman actor Shawn Ashmore heard the news like the rest of us, too.

According to Collider, the movie is scheduled to open May 27, 2016. Could it be inspired by Age of Apocalypse or will it have stronger connections to another story revolving around the first mutant? Have some fun speculating below, Viners!

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23, 2014.

Okay... I'm excited for this.

I wonder if they are Days of the Future past is going to soft reboot the franchise. I would love to see Cyclops back and actually be important in the movies. This could be the result.

please just bring back cyclops. But im really excited for this!

I was hoping for an Age of Apocalypse inspired sequel to Days of Future Past!

YES!!!! Age of Apocalypse!!!! Magneto is going to destroy everyone!!! I can't wait to see Fassbender rip Apocalypse in half. This is gonna be awesome.

I love how Magneto is already outshining the X-Men.

it only makes sense after days of future past you NEED an Apocalypse movie xD i am excited theyre finally getting it right

Same here.

My prediction though? An "X-Men" Apocalypse movie all about Wolverine.

Please be AoA...

YES! This has me super pumped.

This. As much as I like the previous Singer X-Men films he really underutilized certain characters. Cyclops was probably the biggest offense in that regard. I wonder if the X-Force movie they are doing will lead into a big crossover type thing for Apocalypse.

We will get badass AoA Cyclops.

The Marvel Community team is always talking about X-Cutioner's Song, but I enjoyed the X-Factor stories with Ship, baby Nate, and the transmode virus even more. I'd love to see more of a film channeling Fall of the Mutants/X-Factor Endgame (Vol.1:65-68). I doubt that'll happen since those are such Summers-centric stories.

They'll probably just find some way of making it revolve around Wolverine again.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't think Age of Apocalypse sounds very appealing for film. I'd rather they give Apocalypse his classic treatment as an omnipotent mutant Darwinist.

Still, I've been pining for Apocalypse in an X-Men movie. He's one of my favorite X villains and I love the stories built around him (X-Cutioner's Song, Uncanny X-Force, Uncanny Avengers). I also think that his character offers a fresh perspective as far the mutants-humans relationship goes (the Xavier-Magneto dynamic has grown stale now, and theirs are not the only paths/causes).

Hopefully this paves the way for Mr. Sinister, Cable, and ARCHANGEL to show up on-screen, as well.

Probably another Wolverine movie.

Two thoughts: Days of Future Past has to really nail it in order to set a good stage for Apocalypse. Bryan Singer being at the helm is a good start.

Second, is Bryan Singer looking to be the Chris Claremont for the big screen? If so, I'm on board.

You're probably right.

Yes! Yes!

Hopefully Days of Future Past is a soft reboot and we can bring back Cyclops and make some changes to the X-Men roster.

This sounds great! i thought apocolypse would be in x-force, but this works. Just shift the focus back to the team instead of the mentors. We wanna see Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Wolverine as a unit. I just miss that from the comics.

Fox must have a lot of faith in DOFP to announce a sequel already. Looking forward to all of Fox's projects--especially Fantastic Four. I hope they cameo in DOFP after the credits.

Kit Harington or Richard Madden for Reed Richards ftw!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yep, probably as Jackman is starting to age, to still put him as Wolverine they will probably go with the Wolverine version of Apocalypse so this is still all about Wolverine and a lot of stars demanding screen time for zero character development due to not enough time for everyone like happened in Days of Future Past (yep, I've come from the future, that's what happened in DoFP, like with X3 but worse).

I've hear that in 2020 no matter how many films FOX makes, their rights no longer extend and they return to Marvel... is that real??? By then probably the avengers cycle will expire and Marvel could focus on some awesome x-men stuff is that's tru... only 7 more years... only 7 more years...

They'll ruin my favorite villain yay ...sigh if only marvel had the rights .

Apocalypse, sounds good to me.

Speaking of X-Force:

Cable

Deadpool

Psylocke

Bishop

Fantomex

Do it.

Posted by BlackShadowCat

Yay...another Wolverine movie. I mean he's gonna be in it right? Because you somehow can't have an X-men movie without him...for some reason -_-

I really wonder if the general audience will take in all this time travel alternate dimension stuff on top of superpowers and giant robots.

What Marvel has made work in movies is the realism, and now we're looking at more and more farfetched worlds, plots and characters

Marvel will never have the rights to X-Men back, they don't even want them, so you may as well stop crying and move on.

What aliens and gods are ok but time travel is to much?

@dernman: I always thought that DOFP would change the timeline and remove X3 & X-Men Origins from ever happening >:) but also bringing Cyclops back. Something like that is bound to happen right?

Oooh. An origin story for Cable to explain who he is after seeing the X-Force movie. I love it.

What would really make my day would be them rebooting the X-Men altogether. It is one of Marvel's best properties, and one of the best team books ever, it deserves better, especially than just being a glorified Wolverine vehicle.

Posted by ssejllenrad

Honwst title:

Tall Pretty Boy Wolverine part 7- The Age where Apocalypse gets beaten by Wolverine.

ummm wow DotP... Deadpool... Xforce... and Apocalypse

Holy crap SOOOO many comic book movies are coming out in the future from DC/WB, Marvel, FOX, SOny etc.

Bring on the Archangel :3

I would really like to see an AOA epic trilogy similar to what they have been doing with LOTR and the Hobbit

Posted by Girth

I love how there are a lot of good superhero movies coming out. This is the best time to be into comics.

Lol they didn't include 'Age of' in the title... Seriously though, Singer is always looking for attention - he can't let WB or Marvel have a week to themselves.

This is pretty exciting though... Fox has officially surpassed DC and caught up with Marvel:

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Fantastic Four

X-Force

The Wolverine 2

X-Men: Apocalypse

I've got a feeling they'll depower Apocalypse alot so that he'll want wolverines healing factor or some garbage like that .

SHUT UP!!...That kinda blew my mind

Posted by Maddpanda531

@jonny_anonymous: Gods and aliens are usually a lot more straightforward than time travel is, in my opinion.

People already hating because they speculate it's going to be Wolverine 7, just shut up and enjoy the fact we're getting another X-Men movie and it's probably going to be FREAKING AWESOME.

NOW CHANT WITH ME, VINERS!

Posted by LaserLambert

WTF? announcing the movie and release date BEFORE the upcoming movie comes out? ridiculous.

Also, I don't care about apocalypse.

Edited by joshmightbe

Its about damn time Apoc got to be in a movie, tho I will say Cable too please.

Well, hot damn.

Yes! Yes!
