New TMNT Movie Designs

The dudes look quite different. Come take a look.

*NOTE: We've been asked by Paramount Pictures to remove the images.*

No Caption Provided

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is coming out this year but, aside from the cast and general statements about the movie, not a whole lot has been released. There's no word on when we'll even see an official teaser, but Comic Book Movie has posted what appears to be the final design for the Heroes in a Half-Shell. As you can tell, the characters have undergone some big changes.

**Images removed**

Previous details released about the movie's toys do line up with the details in the above image, so this definitely seems legitimate. Are you happy with this new appearances or are you not feeling it?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and opens August 8.

Sorry dude, Paramount asked us to take it down so we're not going to add them to the article. I'm sure they've asked other sites to do the same.

The look alright. Not great, but not bad. I love Shredder's design though, it looks scary and cool.

A "better" image has surfaced of some advertisement material from a toy fair...

Ninja Turtles ad

I put better in quotes because it is in a higher definition, but I frankly think more definition on these models only hurts them. The maquettes looked ok (aside from the freakin chins) but in this new image the only one that looks to have a turtle face at all is Donny, tho Leo comes close.

Chins and lips.... What turtle anywhere has a chin or lips?!?

Another interesting thing to note is that the ad labels them as "Ninja Turtles" again dropping the "teenage, mutant" from their title. If it were just that I'd be fine, assuming it was done to make things simpler, but it feels more and more like the old script still has influence here

Think about it. Old script had the foot being a black ops military division, we've already seen that to be true. Old script had a White man playing Shredder, true again. Now dropping the teenage and mutant when the original script dropped them because they were neither seems iffy. Lets not forget that the old script had the shredder turning out to actually be a robot. Looking at the leaked image of Shredder it isn't much of a stretch to see that being a robot...

@gor724: You do know that Ninja Turtles started out as a dark mature property. Heck Eastman got the inspiration from Frank Millers Sin City comics. It was not until the cartoon came out that they turned light and kid friendly.

I do know that. Still, I feel like the Ninja Turtles is a concept that shouldn't be taken seriously. Just my opinion

1. It was a satire.

2. Second it wasn't a satire about Sin City. Sin City was first released in 91 long after the the turtles had gone mainstream and more kid friendly.

3. It was satire about Frank Miller's Daredevil run among other things. For instance is Master Splinter a joke about Stick and the Foot clan a reference/joke towards The Hand.

Damn, I guess moderate means delete arghh lol

Anywho, I just said I love the new look, gritty reboot design very "MK-esque" darker, more serious, torn clothes etc and homemade gear, I like.

I just want to say I Like the Shredder's look, people always have to petpeeve about something lol. It looks more modernized, the mask I have no issues with it looks as many have said "more menacing" and that it should, the original Shredder keep in mind "was menacing" for uh the 80's and early 90's....now that would be considered a joke and boardlerine cheesy. Not the costume, the mask...

I can live with it.

Now, the turtles:

I as I said love the newer looks but will break down each:

Mikey, little goofy but guess he should be and boarderline "hood" shorty, bling bling chain a bit much...lol even for mikey lol.

Donny, man sooooo fitting. I can picture him fighting with goggles lol, and the homemade weapons/staff is great.

Leonardo is the most fleshed out look imo, most honorable looking and love the home made pads, armor etc on him especially. I don't have issues with his face...

Lastly, my fav Raph. Have to say badass and easily the most menacing turtle look wise, cross between a "biker/surfer/martial artist" into one, dig the mask. Reminds me of the TV show versions, but far more badass.

I look forward to it.

I don't really like this whole dark and gritty approach. I love the Ninja Turtles, but they really shouldn't be taking a property like this that seriously. I think the new show and the 2003 cartoon hit it perfectly. Fun and action packed.

Yea but that isn't how the TMNT originally were

And Superman originally couldn't fly. Batman used to kill. I grew up with the cartoons, so obviously, those are the turtles I'm used to. If I grew up with the comics, I would be used to those. Its all perspective.

the difference here is that the TMNT were never that kid-ish OTHER than in the cartoon

You know I kind of wanted to hate this because of the whole "alien" premise rather than them being mutants. But...I really like these designs. I like the samurai-esque look of Raphael up front there.

IIRC they've said that them being Aliens was only a rumor

Correct.

More like it was changed.

@k4tzm4n: Hey at least it looks better than the kid's costume, lol. The costumes look kind of cool, but I still have to see how the story is. Action and costumes aren't gonna be enough for my tastes.

Agreed 100% about the looks.

As for the movie, I'm not really expecting a great plot. I'm just hoping for a solid dose of popcorn entertainment.

Yeah that costume is awful so I'm kind of relieved. Oh and in generally you shouldn't expect more than a good action popcorn movies for that what most mainstream comics are anyway.

I liked the designs, but I still think Shredder's armor is made of recycled transformers.

I also curious to Donnie and Raph with glasses and the costume of Raph also showed he haves glasses...why so many glasses? Are they planning to go CSI Miami all the time? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!

I really like the look of all of them especially shredder! Now I'm hoping that when it tanks, and megan fox is in it so it will tank, they can at least get a different director and april o'neil for a sequel/new stand alone movie but keep the same character designs.

Kid-ish? clearly you are not reading the comic my friend.

yeah...so it definitely sounds as though you're basing your opinion on an adaption....the original source material was anything but kiddish...it was violent, dark, and gritty

I maintain that the Turtles look too clunky and overcluttered in their design but I'll concede that Shredder looks a very menacing mofo here. The chain mail and steel armour looks cool and very fitting for the Shredder and the movie.

I'm actually surprisingly impressed by these strange redesigns. They are something we've never seen before, but still very faithful to the character origins. Then again, I never thought the visuals would be the problem with this movie in the first place.
