New Superman, Batman & Justice League Movie Rumors

Could Warner Brothers be prepared to crank up the heat for the DC Cinematic Universe?

There was an early report that an early cut of Man of Steel was phenomenal. There is a lot riding on this movie not only as a lead in to a future franchise for Superman but also as the lead in for other DC characters and the attempt to bring the Justice League of America to the big screen. While there has been some recent worries over the script for the Justice League film, a new rumor may justify why the possible early draft of the script has been scrapped.

No Caption Provided

Latino Review is reporting that Christopher Nolan is now taking over the DC characters at Warner Bros. This gives him the final say in anything that is to be done on the big screen. This means that as with Man of Steel, he would be overseeing and producing the Justice League film. It's also reported that Zack Snyder would be a producer and possible the director for the Justice League.

But that's not all. They're also saying that this could lead to the return of Christian Bale as Batman. It might seem hard to swallow but Bale was quoted in an interview saying he would love the challenge of making a fourth movie work if Nolan came to him with a script and said there was another story to tell.

Of course none of this is confirmed at this point. It all makes sense in that Warner Bros. will definitely want to ensure a strong and profitable franchise to compete with Disney's The Avengers.

We'll have to wait and see if they will try to bring Christian Bale back. He's proven financially at the box office he has what it takes to bring life to the character. Having him alongside other superheroes could be odd but if anyone could make it work, it would be Christopher Nolan.

Bale back as Batman? Fine, but I'm more worried about the glaring tone shift!!!! I mean, there were no superpowers in Nolan's Bat-verse!!! They even made a parody of what would happen if Superman showed up in Nolan's universe!!

Latino Review doesn't actually know anything. Everything after Man of Steel is all rumor at this point. We won't know anything about future DC movies until San Diego Comic Con. Even then, we will only get announcements if Man of Steel does well in June, which it should. I don't think that there is a plan yet, but I would like there to be. I want a Justice League film real bad.

Having Nolan and Snyder at the helm is definitely a good thing. I wouldn't be against getting more creators in there, though, to diversify the franchise as much as the Justice League itself.

How about a Wonder Woman or Aquaman movie before any of those movies!

In Christopher Nolan (and Christian Bale) we trust! With Nolan stepping up to have the final say in regards to all DC superhero movies (character-wise, if the Latino Review is correct), I have high hopes that we shall see more amazing superhero movies in the next five or so years.

And what if those movies tank like Dredd did? Aquaman is still a joke to people, who can have their minds changed but probably won't give his film a try because of his rep. Justice League should come first to establish a cohesive universe. It also allows Warner to differentiate themselves from Disney and it advertises characters like Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Cyborg for solo films.

Some of this sounds good to me but I'd like to not have the Bale Batman be the JL one. After the Nolan movies im rather done with him and the Nolan style Bat.

@Smart_Dork_Dude: I love those parody videos but I don't think its a valid argument saying their were no superheroes in Nolan's Batman. They just use the same logic as the comic books. Why didn't Superman fly in and stop the Joker in Death of the family, he was doing his own stuff.

Well I am pretty sure Christopher Nolan said he was done with Batman, I don't believe he would want to helm the entire Justice League. Just because almost everyone want that to happen doesn't necessarily mean it's definitely going to happen.

My point is that Nolan's universe left little room for superpowered or supernatural figures. Now Superman COULD work within the Nolan universe, especially if we go with the idea Batman was technically the first superhero in the DC Cinematic Universe and everything that happened in Nolan's Batman trilogy takes place BEFORE Man of Steel then I could probably buy it.

I'm on the fence here. Yeah, it would be a good idea for Nolan to do this but considering Dark Knight Rises, it makes me just take this rumored news with caution...but I won't go into why I think he did mediocre work with Rises when DK was one of his best ever. At the very least, all this indicates is that the future of DC's cinematic success really is dependent on just how well Man of Steel does in June. That's gonna be the litmus test, plain and simple.

Eh... Not too sure about this. Nolan is cool but I'm not sure I'd like his idea of a universe the Justice League (this is assuming he holds a similar vision to the one he had for Batman's universe).

Also, I think it's time for a new Batman actor. Bale was good but I want to see a new addition.

What is Latino Review's source? Just sounds like speculation to me. Plus bringing Christian Bale back, correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't his character lack what other Leaguers do have -- like knee cartilage?

I agree with the above to the fullest. I think we should be done with all things Nolan! This is the perfect opportunity for Dc to build off Superman. Nolan = 2hrs of boredom thirty minutes of action.

I liked Bale as Batman (Michael Keaton was better though), and overall I liked Nolan's movies (The Dark Knight could of been better), but I DO NOT want a fourth Nolan film OR Bale as Batman in JL. That simply ruins the entire trilogy Nolan made.

I trust that Nolan could make an awesome franchise, but I am weary on the idea that they might keep the Batman from the DKR trilogy. It felt like such a self-contained universe, I don't think that Batman would work in a bigger DCU. If they keep Bale but reboot the character, I could swallow that.

I still say they go animated.

Honestly, I don't think this will work out great. I like Nolan, but he is not the type of Sci Fi guy I think should be helming ALL Dc Cinematic Decisions. We need someone like Whedon who has past work in comics and movies similar to that of the company they are working for,

I love The Nolan batman films. But I want to see a different batman on screen now, without that ridiculous voice. I just don't think Nolan's batman fits in well with the rest of the heroes. I thinks it's better off to just reboot it. And no Christian bale! I love him, especially as Batman. But honestly, I'm kinda dying to see what someone can do as the bats.

This has always been a silly argument. Just because powers or other heroes are not seen or even alluded to in the bale batman movies does not mean they don't exist. Look at it this way, there are plenty of batman stories that don't mention other heroes, don't have anything unrealistic in them....they just have batman solving a mystery...all humans. It doesn't mean the more fantastical stuff ceases to exist....it's just irrelevant to the story being told.

That said...I do not want Bale back as Batman and I definitely don't want Nolan in charge of the Cinematic DCU.

I don't want characters who are nothing like there comic book counterparts, immersed in a world that is like ours in terms of realism, and yet somehow more ridiculous in what is allowed to transpire. I want a Batman who is a detective, wearing the grey, working with the other heroes to combat a greater threat.

Can you imagine a Nolanized Green Lantern or Flash? Ugh!

Not buying into it. Nolan was good for a grounded approach to Batman but that wouldn't fit well with the Justice League at all.

This is the worst news ever. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were good. The Dark Knight Rises was boring and sucked. And it was a horrible definition of the Batman we all know and love. The Man of Steel will probably be good but I don't want the new Justice League universe to be in the same universe as the one where Batman sat on his ass for 8 years because he was depressed about his girlfriend dying. And then faking his death and letting someone else take his place. That would make so much sense for him to come back and join the Justice League right?

I just don't see Nolan's tone working in a JL movie. Whedon made the Avengers work because the tone wasn't broody, it was a balance of light drama/action/comedy. Where's the FUN in Nolan's Batman?

New Batman please, somebody less moppy and a script that show that he is the World Greatest Detective rather than Crazy Steve growling...

We need a new Batman, a Batman more in the vibe of the Animated Universe, that could fight alongside the League because he oozed awesomeness with every line rather than a silly growl... I hate so much the BatBale-BatSpeech impediment
