New Members Announced for JUSTICE LEAGUE

The team is getting really big suddenly.

We've seen the issue where it was shown that the Justice League refused to allow other members to join the team. Something really big went down with Martian Manhunter. Green Arrow was determined to join but they would't have anything to do with him. All that's about to change.

Today at Fan Expo, it was announced that the roster is changing, big time.

No Caption Provided

You should notice one difference. This is going to be JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA. Geoff Johns will be joined by David Finch and the team will be under the guidance of Steve Trevor. On the team we see Vibe, Catwoman, Martian Manhunter, the new Green Lantern, Stargirl, Katana, Hawkman and Green Arrow.

You can check out an interview with Johns and Finch over at MTV Geek.

What do you think about this roster? Does this team make sense? We'll see more of this in 2013. Are you ready for another Justice League comic?

EDIT

To clarify, this is a NEW title. It's mentioned above but to be clear, we'll have JUSTICE LEAGUE and JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA.

From DC's blog:

Launching in 2013, DC Comics will publish a new ongoing comic book series, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, written by Geoff Johns and drawn by David Finch.

Well that's upsetting. I always liked Ray. He's like the DC equivalent to Hank Pym.

Has the new GL's identity been revealed yet?

His name is Baz, and he's the first Arab American GL.

Well, lookit DC for expanding the racial rainbow. Good for them.

LOL. I wish they didn't make him American, American GL's are just so common. But then I guess it wouldn't make sense for him to be a member of the Justice League of America.

Eh. You can't get everything you want, lol. I've been begging for a Cuban superhero since forever, and I'm pretty sure none of them exist. Some day, my people will have a superhero. Some day.

So the JLI fails and so they bring in the JLA....interesting. I would rather the JL just be the JLA because that's what they've always been.....but overall I do like this idea. Strange roster, though. And I'm about 2 months behind on comics so I don't know the fate of MM and SW....

Following DC's pattern, this book should be released in January with 3 others in the "Fourth Wave." As a Catwoman fan, I'm super excited about this including her. She will obviously be the one that doesn't belong and that should make for some interesting dialogue.

Nice, I like this group lol. Especially Ollie, J'onn and Catwoman(Selina?) That's new lol. New GL is interesting

I'm guessing MMH is the leader/look up to figure? Kind of like Superman is for his group?

Because you need a Bat like character, are you seriously thinking why Catwoman? Dick wouldn't get himself involved with a government's team neither would the current Batgirl (maybe if it was Cass or Steph) and why would you think of Batwoman as a JLA member? I am more into ask why is Katana in there or why isn't Atom there even Firestorm would be nice

Really?

Once again DC is showing a complete lack of creativity in this new 52. Why does ever title need to sound like each other? Justice League, Justice League Dark, Justice League International, now Justice League of America? Batman, Batman and Robin, Batman Inc, Batman: The Dark Knight.

Can we please get some kind of distinction here!!!!

Why not have called JLI the Global Guardians. JLD could have been Shadowpact or Sentinels of Magic. JLA seems a perfect fit to be called Outsiders. These are important team names that have existed for decades in the DC Universe and yet all the current writers want to use are variations of Justice League.

DC really needs an editor/creative director with either some brains or some balls cause right now neither seem to be the driving force of the company.

He's got brains, he knows the name "Justice League" sells and with the upcoming Justice League movie and game they want to get the name out there as much as possible

.........well maaaybe I would be more excited if I knew how this came about story-wise. Still, I'm not feeling this roster. Katana should stay with BOP and Catwoman on any JL team is a BIG NO NO for me. She's better off on BOP in my opinion.

Who's Vibe?

Wouldn't Captain Atom or Firestorm be better suited for this team?

Well, I dunno.

Not wild about Catwoman as a member of the Justice League in any capacity.

Also, putting Stargirl on the team brings up a ton of questions about the Starman legacy and about her stepfather, the former Stripesy (to the original Star Spangled Kid). I think I would have prefered having her in the new Earth 2 series.

I'm so glad to see J'onn back in action under a JL title. But Catwoman? I doubt that will last long. Selina's tried being good before, but with a klepto personality??? We'll see how long she can keep from getting sticky fingers. So did Trevor ditch babysitting A.R.G.U.S.??? I guess we won't see him much in JL Dark after this current arc...? (Isn't he dead in one of the other story lines anyways? I think I'm the only one who is confused about Trevor in this line up...)

I'm glad to see Vibe on the team and I hope that he is well written and not some walking stereotype. As others have mentioned, I'm not sure if I like Catwoman being on the team. While I like the character, this just doesn't seem like the right place for her. I thought she was a great addition to the Outsiders a few years back, but I don't see her as League material.

Justice League Dark was just because they couldn't think of anything to call it, but eventually, the name led to ties to the Justice League. As for Justice League of America, it is the government's answer to the Justice League. They're saying that this is their Justice League.

I am glad to see Green Arrow, Hawkman and the Martian Manhunter on a JL book but this is one of the worst lineups in JLA history. We are most definitely back to the idiotic EXTREEEEEEEEEEEME 90's.

This is probably the team assembled by the US government to keep an eye on the original JL. It is a stupid plot point to give fanservice moments to those fans who spend their time on battle forums with heroes fighting each other.

Because why would you write original stories and interesting character development when all you need to do is have dickish characters fight each other for no reason except "the plot said so".

I posted earlier how I hope Manhunter is still on Stormwatch, and I'm kind of pissed off I don't see more being written about the title. It's been a good one, and with Stormwatch being one of the merging universes after the new 52 revamp, I'm surprised there hasn't been more news about them. On any of the comics sites, not just this one. I haven't seen much use of characters from those worlds either with the exception of a couple villains like Hellspont and Pike. Mid-Nighter was seen in Grifter, but Grifter (with his stupid ass catchers pads) and Midnighter were already seen together enough in the Stormwatch world. DC keeps letting me down. So much potential and it's being misused.

i feel the same way. she is more powerful as an individual, also im guessing steve trevor is not dead or faked his death, or he will be brought back to life. but to say that this is the government's response to the normal justice league is definitely an interesting move, and hopefully we can have them join forces

It's not the justice league without the Martian Man Hunter. after reading the interview with MTVgeek I'm actually getting interested in this (3rd wave i'm guessing, though which title will be cancelled?). At first i was like "dafuq?! catwoman?" but after reading the interview it kinda made more sense (i mean Vibe being recruted to the team after stopping three liquor store robberies, with one of those being by accident) though atm i'm more concered with how they will portray Star Girl. This has interested me though, and can only be better than the other Justice League title. :)

Everyone doesn't have pouches, guns, spikes and should pads, yup we're in the 90's. And no you can't say that this is the first time DC has done a more elite Justice League, or have you never read Justice League Elite. I like the roster as well because i think Johns could do a better job then what he have done in JL.

I have read Elite and it was a pretty good series. However, editorial completely missed the point on that one. It came out of Action Comics #775 which was supposed to be a one-time thing mocking the EXTREEEEEEEME comics of the 90's...and then it created a whole title based on those characters.

Also, the Elite were mostly new characters and they were not exactly superheroes for the most part and when they did fight the JLA, they had 0 superheroes on their team, so it really was not about having superheroes fight one another for splash pages sake.

I dont understand this lineup.

So does this mean that titles like Hawkman, Green Arrow, Catwoman, Stormwatch, Birds of Prey, etc. are going to be coming to a close?

I just want Martian Manhunter on the regular Justice League. Im fine with him being the 8th member just as long as he is involved.

Because Trevor is an agent of the US government, because Johns seemed to go for some sort of "The JL is a threat" plot a few issues ago and because we know they are going to be fighting in Trinity War.

Also, I am guessing what he meant by JSA feel was the Black Reign arc. The rest of his two JSA runs are about family and legacy and I really do not see how it would fit this team.
