Idk, his costume almost looks too.....hip? Also, am I the only one who'd rather the "MANDARIN" be Chinese? Don't get me wrong, I like Kinsley and I'm sure he'll be terrific. However, I can't help but feel Kinsley landed this role through some sort of weird pseudo-reverse racism.

Ben Kingsley is a pretty big melting pot of foreign races (his birth name is Krishna Pandit Bhanji), but I do get the impression that they were afraid to cast somebody noticeably foreign as a terrorist. Kingsley is great, but I am indeed annoyed by it. I don't always care when a character isn't cast properly for their race, but he's called the freakin' Mandarin.

Ben Kingsley is a boss.

I seriously doubt that they will ever refer to his character as "The Mandarin" in the movie, so I'm kind of okay with it.

I really can't make up my mind on this costume though. I think it kind of looks super goofy.

It's really not so easy to say. I like his coat, hate the glasses and don't really get the camouflage look. And when it comes to the race, I think they might provide a good reason why he's called the Mandarin though he doesn't look so asian after all.

I'm not asian, but I wholeheartedly agree. I like Ben Kingsly and all, but he does not look the part at all. Why does Hollywood insist on changing the appearance of characters for the worst?

@Xenozoic Shaman: Hollywood thinks it too risky to hire people outside the norm. So instead of taking the risk they just butcher movies because they know they will make money irregardless T.T

Not too keen on Mandarin as a choice of villain but Kingsley looks imposing here.

The more I look at it, the better it looks. I want that coat :) I can see this becoming his look in the comics (if it hasn't already). And I'm totally fine with Ben Kingsley. According to Mandarin's origin:

"His father was a direct descendant of Genghis Khan, and his mother was a British aristocrat."

After seeing this poster, I wonder if the Mandarin will still be an Asian character in the movie, or instead be an American or English ex-pat who has relocated to China.

Normally I'd say they should have gone with the national decent of the character but it's Ben F*&KING KIngsley. Sir Ben. He's looks awsome. I just wonder how they're going to apply the rings, and will we get to see all the 10 of them in action. I have hopes for this movie.

The loophole for Marvel would be...this is influenced by the Ultimate Universe, so what's Ultimate Mandarin look like (I've never seen Ultimate Mandarin, so I can't speak to that).

On the movie side of things, Ben Kingsley's a great actor and I trust Marvel's casting....but this would've been my Mandarin.
