New Image for 'Judge Dredd' Surfaces

The new image reassures us that the movie is headed in the right direction.

When it comes to thinking about a Judge Dredd movie, it's hard not to think about the 1995 version with Sylvester Stallone. Thankfully the new version due this September with Karl Urban and Lena Headey looks really good so far.

Yesterday CBM posted a new picture for the movie. Last I heard, Urban was going to be keeping the helmet on the entire movie. That's how it should be.

No Caption Provided

I like it but I don't love it. It has a little too much padding. It's understandable why he'd want it but still. Regardless, it looks better than what we've seen before.

== TEASER ==

CBM also posted the banner and high-res images of previously released ones.

In case you missed it off my Twitter feed, I posted this model I assembled and painted way back in 1993. I still have it (you can see the dust).

Do you prefer the armored movie version or the sleeker comic one?

Edit

Still better than this:

Admit I never read Judge Dredd... at the same time, a simple googly search pretty much reveals there is no real definitive physique for his character. Some artist drew him slim, some totally exaggerated his mass to Lobo-like proportions.

So some people say Urban is too little... then others calling them stupid and saying Dredd is not supposed to be 'big'... technically you are all wrong and all right, from what I can tell.

I look forward to this... not being a Judge Dredd reader, its one of those movies I can watch and not psych myself out by constantly comparing to source material. Sometimes it kind of nice to do that. Its the reason I have a hard time enjoying the Walking Dead TV series.

Also Dredd was never as big as Sly in that move, you lot actually need to read 2000AD before commenting otherwise you just look ignorant

The new Dredd movie seems promising...but the costume look...just awfull. Stallone's Dredd looked awesome! Don't like Karl Urban in the lead though. Horrible actor, Eomer aside.

Okay, I'm as big a Judge Dredd fan as anyone else, but cmon' guys. The helmet looks ridiculous. His head is way too small for it. Hopefully this movie will do well, hopefully it has a good script and good acting. Otherwise it could become a movie that kills this whole superhero movie craze (Batman and Robin).

It's hard to make comic characters look good in the real world. Their costumes by default simply don't look right on normal people. Even Bale in Batman still looks rather silly and that's about as high budget as you can get.

I'm excited for this movie though. I liked when Karl Urban was cast and even more so when they cast Lena Heady as the villian - especially after how well she has done on Game of Thrones.

Can't wait for later this summer! Other than Prometheus, this was the only one I really want to see.

It certainly looks very faithful to the first ever images of Dredd, from prog 2 of 2000ad. A real homage to Wagner/Ezquerra/Mills character.

I dunno...he still loooks like a manchild in that helmet (and costume!)

And I'm pretty sure, despite what he's been saying, that he'll take his helmet off anyway. Stallone had the face and build for the Judge!

It's looks alright, but Sly was Dredd. For one, he was as big as him in the comics. I've watched it on HBO and thought it was alright, but won't spend eight dollars to watch in the movie house. The first part was cool, when they had the "block war", it should've been in all out war and face Judge Death, show the back story and how he was create in a alternate universe. I've play the game on SNES and the final boss was Judge Death, wonder who he was. Check him out on the web and was a very crazed individual (Judge Death).

@Necrotic_Lycanthrope: Retail should be $20 each, I only see 1, 2 & 4 online though, Amazon has them cheap.

@Necrotic_Lycanthrope: You got gauged :P Amazon has book one right now for $19.21 new, the other volumes are a little stepper though and only used are available, cheapest I see volume three for is $30 but that's with free shipping too. Most people tend to hold on to imported stuff cause of the initial cost so finding used ones isn't too easy. If you have access to any other comic shops you might want to check in on them cause most of the new editions of the Rebellion trades are still available from Diamond, you just have to find a shop that won't screw you over.

I got the last 2 Nemesis books at my local shop and they where pricey as heck.

35 some dollars per book. o_o

Now I want to order online the Volgan War volumes to complete my collection (even though I heard that there might be another saga come this summer/fall)

@Necrotic_Lycanthrope: Where you seeing prices like that? the first two volumes of Nemesis are $20 each and the third is $25. Might want to check cause your shop may be price gauging you. Amazon's a good alternative. Retail for UK stuff is usually only about 5% more expensive then the US equivalent, with comics its not too bad, magazines are a whole lot worse and vary from 25% to 60% on the mark up. More publicity would be good though :P

Yeaaaaaah....but by getting publicity more are printed at slightly cheaper prices.

35-40 bucks for one Nemesis book is an expensive prospect.

Well that is how is supposed to look. Unlike the Sylvester Stallone version which he wore the helmet for 15 minutes I think. In the comics he never removed the helmet.

It's not how Brian Bolland drew him when I used to read 2000AD as a kid.

Yikes! Yeah, you're right. I don't like that either.

LOL, so you don't like Judge Dredd, we get it. NEXT!

Glade to see that it looks like they are trying to honor the source. Although technically the actor should be a lot taller and lankier. Still looks sweet so far.

I don't know if I dislike Judge Dredd, but I dislike certain versions of his costume.

I want there to finally be the ABC Warriors in the US, along with Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog, Nemesis the Warlock (reprints since it ended years ago)

You've been able to buy all of those as trade paperbacks in the US for years, Rebellion puts them out , comic stores can order them they just don't, look on the 2000ad site to find out what is available and go to your LCS and special order them, they'll probably want some money down but its worth it cause they are beautiful trades with great extra content.

I have absolutely zero interest in this film, though it's good to hear that he won't be taking the helmet off. That's one thing that irks me about the Spidey films, was that his mask was getting ripped off in every fight scene.

It Looks like a cosplay costume,But maybe they'll modify it later in development.Hopefully if they spend nearly all their time trying to make a futuristic Utopian looking city they should show it for more than a few seconds.

My only exposure to Judge Dredd was the old Genesis game. I got stuck and haven't looked back at the character since.

Well, at least til today. Now I need to see the old movie based on that clip alone.
