New Harley Quinn Series Announced

Rejoice, Harley Quinn fans! The villain is getting her own monthly series!

Seeing Harley Quinn using a monkey as a melee weapon in the pages of SUICIDE SQUAD or wearing a fake mustache in INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US is good fun, but DC says it's time to give the classic character more time in the spotlight. CBR has announced Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti are the people DC has selected for the job.

When asked about the series, the duo says they want to build on her background, her motivations, where she lives and her supporting cast. And when asked about the Joker, they state there's a lot of stuff that won't involve him, but he'll "always be looming in the background."

On a scale of one to "YESSSSSSSS," how excited are you about this announcement?

Can I be the first to say that this might be the new worst ongoing DC is publishing

Posted by The Stegman

This could be the "fun" "carefree" title that DC sorely needs with all the doom and gloom going around. Maybe without the constant threat of having the bomb in her neck being detonated or being forced to kill, Harley can just be...Harley.

Interesting...maybe good. Don't know if I can afford anymore comics though. :(

Still prefer Shazam or Martian Manhunter before characters that would probably fail unless they are written in a good fashion.

Conner, Palmiotti, Quinn.... YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

For you guys that are skeptical, this team did a great job on Power Girl

I'm not gonna lie, this new outfit still makes her look like a bimbo. Oh how I miss the Pre Flashpoint look of Harley Quinn...

It's a great creative team, at least.

Pretty sure that's not her new outfit. She appears to be wearing a roller durby outfit, and the cover says "Coney Island" which is popular for skaters on its boardwalk.

Shame the character doesn't hold my interest whatsoever.

How can you even say anything about the quality of the book at this point?

I give it a meh out of 10.

Will give it a chance, though, for the creative team.

This is interesting.

A Shazam or Cyborg montly is next to be announced. I can feel it. lol

Aw, good for her. Hopefully they can do the girl justice.

SHAZAM! I'll find money for that!

If it's a good mix of crazyness, darkness, and humour (humor ? you know laugh etc. ^^) then I'm all in ! Hope they are not trying to make her a deranged good guy, though. She ain't a anti-hero, she is a sympathetic psycho ! lol

Great team, boring character.

Jonn must be burning with rage.

*Shrug* I can dig it.

Cool for Harley Quinn fans. :)

@billy_batson: yes but a book focused only on the Joker's annoying sidekick is bound to be crappy

Can't wait for the Hawkeye initiative version of that cover.

LMAO that will be funny.

Nice creative team, but I'm currently in the process of cutting back on titles, so I may have to give this a miss, or a move to trade (sorry guys).

Posted by V_Scarlotte_Rose

I'm not feeling too positive about this, based on Suicide Squad, but I'll maybe buy #1 to see how it is.

Posted by fACEmelter88

Interesting...I wonder what's being canceled to make room for this as well as JL 3000 and whatever other new ongoings.

Edited by krspaceT

@facemelter88: There is a deficit of titles, there are less than 52 right now, so they can fit it in without cancellation

I've never been a Harley fan, but after seeing the creative team behind this I'm interested. I'll still wait for reviews though.

I'm a bit skeptical on this one, I'll wait and see what happens.

I might try the series out. I wish the old costume or something simillar will come back.

YES!

The biggest problem I've always had with Harley personally is that her back story/character is just a Joker feat,it's meant to show how awesome and manipulative he is,that's what her character is when you come down to it just a Joker creation. It's why I cant take her seriously no matter how many times writers and fans say she's "smart" because being easily fooled and manipulated is the core aspect of her character,it's her DNA.

Hopefully you're right. Still it bares the way for successful B listers to have a shot holding their own title.

Probably pick it up.

Just glad Ann Nocenti won't be writing it. That woman's stories are all over the place... i.e. bad!

Nah. Not liking a character is fine but it's no argument against the book's quality.

Her last series lasted for 38 issues.

@daredevilnut:

Nah I think the worst on going DC is gonna publish is Wonder Woman and Superman. the whole thing says it's just based on their relationship.

Posted by Breadspread

Yesssss! Whoa.... Hold on... Is that a roller derby outfit?

Posted by luisaraujo

DC is trying really hard to make money.. hopefully its not at the cost of losing fans.. i love a small handfull of series.. mainly batman, batman inc. red hood

ive lost batman inc. and red hood has become dull

.. so what next month were supposed to buy 5 versions of each batman title?..and now this.. meh..

Posted by Dernman

@blkson: There was something rumored for Shazam in the works for awhile now.

Conner, Palmiotti, Quinn.... YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Posted by CaptainHoopla

If it's a ridiculous over the top fun and funny book similar to Deadpool, then I'm all on board. Otherwise, what's the point with Suicide Squad still ongoing? Ahh!...Over/Under on Suicide Squad being cancelled by the end of the year?

Glad to hear she will be getting her own series

I'm actually a bit excited for this. DC doesn't have very many lighthearted comics, everything's all doom and gloom, maybe this could be just what the doctor Quinzel ordered. Who knows, maybe we can see a reunion of the Gotham City Sirens in this title too.
