New Female THOR on the Way

I think that it's Thor's grand daughter the blonde one which would make sense since they where on the moon with other asgardians she could blend in and she was the only one who read the unworthy book, I have also thought it could be the marvel now version of a human or asguardian Valkyrie it could also be his new human girlfriend agent Solomon but there is a problem with this is that they are on the even if it was the blue area its freezing so a bare human hand does not make since even if they just took there glove of

TBH Thor I find to make alot of Marvel dull due to how Superman he is to Marvel. I think it will help the grand scheme of things to remove him more from the picture and have someone else more manageable take his place. So in short her as an individual might not be as good but she can hopefully make it so that others shine better.

@rubear: what they need to do now is replace all the male story writers with females and let these females assume theit identities and see how they like it.

I am not going to bother reading through all these posts since I suspect most are all about the horrific destruction of the Mighty Thor. The chance of a new character taking on the power of Thor through Moljnir worthiness being female is fifty-ish percent. Since, you know, that's about the percentage of females thereabouts on Earth and presumably Asgard...

For me, after some thought on this, I think this is one of Thor's granddaughters who he did save. I think it's still in the blood lines and I think this is her way of ensuring the Mjolnir stays in safe-keeping as the Odinsson goes about his new adventures, Thor-free. Those dark eyes had me thinking of Marrina and wow, I really love that shade of lip gloss.

I wouldn't mind it being Sif for a bit, her black hair returned to its once blonde locks. Is this set in the past? In the future? Who knows? I can't wait to find out.

I don't understand why they have to drastically change a character in order to draw in readers who really didn't like superheroes to begin with. If someone's interested in reading Thor, let them take what's already established. I don't like that DC/Marvel are turning my adventure comics into soap opera comics with a dash of "diversity" and then claiming it has depth. Look at what DC's doing with Batgirl. If they want to make the book fun, then maybe they should aim the book at younger readers, like girls between the ages of 8-15 minus all the "adult themes".

I've loved Norse mythology since I found a book on it in elementary school(inspired to pick it u by the Thor comics I read), & it enriched my interest in Thor, & I've been in love with Norse mythology/culture/history ever since. That's why I love Vikings(can't wait for the new season) & why I've always loved Thor. That's why I read Thor too, to delve into that rich Norse mythos & the cosmology of the Nine Worlds through the Marvel lense(plus seeing Thor crack the skulls of giants & trolls with Mjolnir)- this crap is just as far away as you can get from that. Aaron was doing a kick-ass job up until this point, now it's a total clusterf**k.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The problem doesn't have a damn thing to do with sexism. It's about stupid-ass decisions with iconic characters all for a big PR stunt to try & make some waves of controversy & draw in female readers. Well, the female readers I know are pissed because they don't want to see a female "Thor" analogue, they wanna see their sexy Thor kick ass- that's some of their exact words. Just like, as a dude, I wanna see Thor be the kick-ass warrior I know him to be, delving into the worlds of the Norse cosmology. This just gets us farther away from the point of the character, & what made Aaron's run on Thor successful in the first place.

This comment just made me laugh. There are two things I am not: sexist or racist. My comments are based on the sheer stupidity of this decision, considering a character that I've loved since I was a kid. If anyone accused me of being sexist face to face, if they were a dude I'd just knock the sh*t out of them, if they were a woman I'd give them the finger & fart in their general direction. I was raised by two women- my mother & my grandmother, & had only one sibling: a sister. My mom & my grandma are two of the greatest women I have ever known. They taught me how to be a man- how to be a good man. taught me how to treat women right. I consider myself a gentleman, & truly consider women the stronger sex. I love & respect women. I've even had more girl friends- not romantic I mean, but just friends that are girls- than I have guy friends, because I get pissed at them when I hear them saying sexist remarks or treating women/girls like pieces of meat put on this earth for their gratification. My mom taught me to be a better man to make up for the men she knew. So the whole sexist thing? That's bullsh*t with me. It would be as crazy as calling me an athesist when I love God & pray to him every day. My mom even took issue with the whole Thor change-up. What it is that pisses people off is it is unnecessary & insipid to even think that someone could be called "Thor" when it is HIS NAME. It's who he is, & you can take the hammer from him, but you can't take that away. I truly believe a woman could be worthy of wielding Thor's hammer. I thought it was a cool moment when Wonder Woman did it in Marvel vs. DC. But that doesn't mean they can take the name Thor or become the new Thor, or supercede the classic characters that fans- BOTH MALE & FEMALE- have been enjoying for years. I know female Thor fans that are ticked off by this. They want their sexy Thor back. There are plenty of great female characters in the Marvel universe, strong inspirational characters. Black Widow. Lady Sif. Valkyrie. She-Hulk. Scarlet Witch. Tigra. The list goes on & on & I love every one of those characters I mentioned. So why does Marvel not push these characters, instead of pulling bonehead movies by superceding one of their great characters & replacing them with a female analogue? Or better yet, be creative & create new ones. the new Ms. Marvel is a good example of creativity, they should do more of that. I enjoyed the Journey into Mystery series with Lady Sif, hated to see it get cancelled- Marvel should have pushed it more. I'd love to read more stories about her, always loved her character. just try to see the other side; how would you feel if a female character you loved was replaced by a male counterpart? Sexism isn't the issue, & that card, like the race card, shouldn't be pulled. The issue is this being done to a classic character as an obvious controversial PR ploy. So put the sexism card back in your pocket & look at things if the roles were reversed, & think about how you'd feel.

When i say reboot is not Thor title reboot its all marvel universe reboot in the event "Time Runs Out" , something that marvel never have done in 75 years (DC reboots every 10 years).

I believe this is related to Marvel still having the movie rights to Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, so they've built their brand around them more and more in recent years to try and keep their profits strong. I could be mistaken on that though.

Surprise, Marvel yet again screws up their franchises. Get a clue people!! Comic books are not films. You cannot just reboot a title every other week or you get... well, what you have right now which is just... CRAP.

Sadly for those of us who still remember the good ole' days when consistency and continuity meant something in the convoluted world of comicdom, not even DC is immune to this particular disease, although they are weathering the storm quite a bit better than their, oh so marvelous, counterpart.

Final verdict: stop buying Marvel. It's gone to Hell.

Also interesting to see that they're changing every member of the three (even though I'm not caught up on any of them.) I'm guessing it's going to spin into a big Avengers crossover event next year, but that's just me grasping at straws.

Thor (Marvel) character is inspired in the thunder god from Norse Mythology and a core essential element is that he is a Male, and Son of Odin, that's unchangeable...That being said If it´s Angela his new SISTER OK... First off, I'm not a Thor fan. I know a handful o' Thor facts and stuff, but I aint into him. Not enough to care about this; we've seen it before. They just want everyone to go "WHAAAAAAT" and then work from there. What I'm asking here, and I really hope someone can answer, is about the hammer itself.

Okay, "blahblahblah worthy shall wield the power of Thor". Hmm. That's cool. I mean, I guess. But what is the power of Thor, exactly? To control lightning and thunder and fly? Okay, so you get Thor's powers? Cool. As long as you're worthy, weather you're a frog or an alien-horse guy, you'll get the power of Thor.

Now, the question, and I might not be phrasing this right, but bear with me. Who is Thor? I mean, he's Odin's son, right? Odin had a son, named him Thor, and I guess granted him a specific power that he can wield through his hammer. I don't the hammer's origins, so there might be some complex backstory that i'm not aware of, but as far as i, and anyone on the street who knows who Thor is, understand is that lightning and thunder are Thor's powers. You wield the hammer, you get the power of Thor.

Now here, this says Thor is no longer worthy...huh? THOR is no longer worthy to wield the power of...THOR? Like, it would be WAY different if it was "wield the power of lightning and thunder" or simply "wield the power of Mjolnir". That way it would be more like a Lantern Corps thing, you know, the worthy get the power and all that. But it says "the power of Thor". It's the dude's name on the hammer. It's HIS power. How are you not worthy of being yourself? Is "Thor" a concept all of a sudden, like the Avatar or something? You know, Aang was a male Avatar, now Korra's a female one? Do you become "Thor" if Odin's son Thor is no longer worthy to wield Thor's power? I mean. how does that work? Before, if you were worthy, you got a hammer and his powers. Thor was still worthy, though. But now, since Thor himself isn't worthy, who or what decides on a new..."Thor"? Is Thor no longer Thor? Marvel's saying this chick is Thor. Are there two Thors? And even if that's how it goes (am i thinking too deeply about this?) why would this random chick become THE Thor? Why not someone who's, i dunno, ALREADY WORTHY? Beta Ray Bill, Thunderstrike (is he still alive and/or current?), why her? She might not be a RANDOM woman, granted, but even if she is someone known, she wasn't worthy to wield Thor's POWER until now. Why is she all of a sudden worthy to BE Thor?

@zarathos022: Actually, I don't believe it's a stupid idea at all. Although I do agree that it's stupid that the female character is going under The Mighty Thor as if she is the original Thor, I do not think that it is ridiculous for a female to wield Mjolnir and acquire Thor's abilities. Thor -was- the God of Thunder, but didn't Odin take that away from him? Isn't the whole purpose of Mjolnir's inscription? If Thor is not worthy to wield it, shouldn't he lose the hammer to someone else that is worthy enough to wield it? In all truth, I doubt that Thor Odinson will no longer be the hot, Viking Warrior running about bashing heads with his hammer, but it'll be a nice breath of fresh air to see someone else, a woman, using his abilities to the fullest extent and dishing her own bit of justice by the name of Thunder.

Besides, I am utterly -sick- of all of these powerhouses.

This is fine and all, but it seems to make the whole Angela thing pointless. And while I am actually perfectly fine with them switching other people into the main characters' roles every once in a while, I think this is getting a little overboard, too many at once.

If this new Thor has to tangle with the likes of the Hulk they can't be using the thin ultra-sexy looking version in their concept art that has been associated with this news announcement. They need someone with a little bit more meat on the bone.
