New Details on the Scott Snyder & Jim Lee SUPERMAN Series

Find out what the series is called and when it'll come out!

We've known for a while now that the dream team of Scott Snyder and Jim Lee will present a new Superman title, but now we finally have plenty of new information about the upcoming series.

First and foremost, it's going to be called SUPERMAN UNCHAINED (and no, Quentin Tarantino has no connection). We can get our hands on it June 12th-- two days before Man of Steel's release and the same month BATMAN/SUPERMAN will come out! Snyder and Lee spoke with USA Today about the title.

"I know conceptually why he admires Lois Lane, but then when you're writing them and you feel the chemistry between them and it comes to life on the page, it's always these little bursts of surprises that have been a joy to discover with him," Snyder says.
"The energy we're bringing to the story and that 'Hey, we can add new stuff to the canon' kind of attitude will serve us well," Lee says.

It looks like we'll get a deeper Clark and Lois connection... but will they actually get together, and what would that mean for Superman's relationship with Wonder Woman over in Geoff Johns' book?

Talk about an amazing 75th anniversary for Kal-El! Man of Steel looks great and now there's two new titles by astonishing teams. So, is this a clear "must buy" for you, Viners?

'Superman Unchained' sounds corny as hell. Like some sort of extreme 90s leftover.

That being said, even though I don't care much for Jim Lee, Scott Snyder's DC work has been pretty solid so far and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. But being good at Batman or Swamp Thing doesn't necessarily equate to writing Superman well (Hi J. Michael!), so I'll remain skeptically optimistic.

Still, this quote from Lee kinda disturbs me a little:

"You have to fight your natural tendency to do what you know or what you've always thought the character to be. We've been pushing the creators to not be beholden to the past conceits and understandings [of Superman]. So we will speak to a new generation of readers."

Damn it why did you have to remind me of JMS and Grounded? Can't believe I wasted my time reviewing that series now. In fairness, the first 3 issues of JMS' run, particularly 701 and that suicide scene were good. Then **** went down and Robinson didn't manage to clear up the mess left behind. JMS should have stayed with Marvel in hindsight, he writes those characters better than he does the DC ones.

Haha, apologies, friend. I've never actually fully read any of those Grounded issues, but scans online and critical reviews convinced me that I was lucky not to have read them. But yeah, despite his work on Thor - I don't think he really understood Superman. Which is worrisome for me, because I'm afraid Snyder might not get Supes (I'm not saying he'll write him as bad as JMS, just using him as an example).

@KendraSander: Agreed, I wonder what the Superman Wonder Woman breakup will look like.

"Diana, I am breaking with you"

"Clark, why??"

" You are just into too kinky things with that lasso, I think Batman likes those things."

Nice Lee, Snyder doesn't get better than that. Unless it was a batman story but got to love Super-man.

Yeah he probably likes his balls crushed by Lois instead of kink by Diana. That's why Batman sells better cause he knows the value of kink. Selina and the whip. No doubt Lane will school him well in this seeing Superman won't know what to do about morals and stuff like that.

Will definitely check this out. Hopefully, it rocks! Snyder and Lee have said it will be very different and unlike anything we've seen before ... I sure hope so.
