New Cyclops Series Coming by Greg Rucka

Cyclops rockets into the cosmic unknown.

Press Release

What would you do if you were suddenly thrust into the future? See your older self. Learn the path you’ve taken. The mistakes you’ve made. Now, imagine that the father you thought died long ago is alive and well – and is a space pirate! This May, experience the ongoing adventures of young Scott Summers in CYCLOPS #1 – the all-new series from Eisner Award winning writer Greg Rucka and artist Russel Dauterman!

Spinning directly out of the blockbuster All-New X-Men crossover “The Trial of Jean Grey” comes the very first ongoing solo series for one of the time-travelling Original X-Men. After clashing with the Shi’ar on the edge of deep space, Scott Summers is about to encounter the last person he’d ever expect to meet – his father!

Long thought dead, Corsair, leader of that intergalactic band of misfits the Starjammers, has returned! And he’s got a new recruit in the form of his son, young Cyclops himself! Scott Summers is leaving the X-Men behind to stay in space amd learn a few valuable lessons from dad: 1) How to shave, 2) How to talk to women, 3) How to steal a Badoon spaceship.

“This books is everything Marvel is about – high stakes, intergalactic action, adventure and intrigue with the emotional core of a father and son who have to repair their relationship,” says Editor Tom Brennan. “Corsair and Cyclops are both in a bold new world – a man back from the dead and a teen out of time. They need each other now, and the universe needs them more than ever.”

Don’t miss one moment of the high adventure in deep space as Rucka & Dauterman kick off the newest cosmic adventure this May in the action packed CYCLOPS #1!

So his father wants to see a past version of his son, but not the one from the present day? Burn.

Adult Cyclops would have been better

You had me at Rucka!

I really do wish it was adult cyclops. The original five should stick together. I was hoping they had an overall plan for the all-new x-men but if they're starting to split up it could mean they are going to stay in the current time indefinitely. Also unless some timey-wimey stuff happens, we know young cyclops can't die. Since if he dies adult cyclops dies. Which I doubt will happen cause adult cyclops is sparking too much stuff right now to just be killed off like that.

should not have done young cyclops, this is altering his story alot! and for the all new-cyclops im not sure if i like it at all. im excited i guess

But didn't like two years ago, he was complaining how both DC and Marvel were "Hollywoodised," and Marvel being the worst offender. Wow quick turn around.

sigh torn. on the one hand gives me hope for that jean grey solo title, scott is one of the original x-men and is a marvel icon so yeah he deserves it but on the other hand this isnt the scott that earned those accolades, they should have did a solo ongoing back when schism or avx happened cause really this sounds like starjammers but they dont think starjammers will sale lol ala man of steal 2 secretly being justice league the prequel. depending on how the trail of jean grey ends dont know if i'll be picking this up or not

Posted by EvilPenguin543

I wish it would've been adult Scott. I think we would be able to get better stories with older Cyclops.

@g_man: WHAT!? YOU JINXED TONY! CYCLOPS SOLO ONGOING SERIES W/ GREG RUCKA? I'M SO SHOCKED AND EXCITED! (sorry for the all caps I've been in an excited mood since reading Batman #28 and Teen Titans Go! #4, I can't help myself. lol) I can't wait to see what is his reaction is when he meets his Dad and since when they had a torn relationship? I thought it was repaired (Corsair and older Cyclops). I wonder if this series will always be about young Cyclops or if it will switch off to older Cyclops if he goes back to the past.

Would have rather had an adult Cyke ongoing, but oh well. Gonna pass

This makes me so happy

Looks like it has potential.

Seriously Cyclops needs some alone time, HE was the ONE who needed a solo title of all the X-men characters. To get away from the pain, the xmen, avengers, everything and I was hoping this book would do it. Just when i though Marvel heard my pray, they do this........

Go to hell young Cyclops.

It's about damn time.

Although this really should have been adult Cyclops.

This. Looks. Interesting.

You had me at New

Greg Rucka! Yes! This is going to be awesome. I would have liked to see the current day Cyclops instead but that doesn't keep me from being excited for this.

Posted by consafo80

Not a massive fan of Cyclops but this sounds good to me. Plus Rucka so will at least give #1 a try.

Posted by ArturoCalaKayVee

I'll be picking this up. Cyclops, old and young, is the best X-Man.

It's about damn time.

Although this really should have been adult Cyclops.

My exact thoughts. I came into this thinking adult Cyclops was getting an on-going but I guess this is better than nothing, right?

Hmm... I might give this one a shot. Like everyone else here, I'd prefer a solo series for an older Cyclops, but the fanboy in me will still read this.

Posted by Daring_Doodads

I liked Russell Dauterman's art on Supurbia and Greg Rucka is awesome so there goes another book on my pull.

I'll be picking this up. Cyclops, old and young, is the best X-Man.

Whatttttttttttttttt

I'm glad to see more focus on Young Cyclops. I just started getting into X-Men with Bendis' series and Young Cyclops has quickly become one of my favorite characters, so I'm glad that we're going to be seeing more of him in the future.

But I can't help but wonder how long this series will last though. When it comes to solo X-Men books, if you don't have "Wolverine" somewhere in the title you're most likely not going to last long...hopefully that won't happen to this series.

All I know though is that I'll be adding this to my pull-list! :D

I'm surprised that Rucka is doing another book with Marvel after the way they treated his (amazing) Punisher series

There's a good reason for that, bub. Can't have all those losers interrupting Wolverine's solo time!

I agree, adult cyk.

Posted by batmannflash

prefer adult Cyclops, but very excited for this!

Edited by MatKrenz

I thought Rucka was done dealing the BS editorial from both Marvel and DC and just doing creator owned stuff. Guess I was wrong.

Edited by NICKXH

So, does that mean young Cyclops is leaving All New X-Men?

I'll be picking this up. Cyclops, old and young, is the best X-Man.

I'll be getting it none the less.

i think I'm the only who likes this better than adult cyclops. i mean I'm not really a fan of Cyclops either way, but I like this cyclops a little bit more

Edited by CaptainHoopla

I like Rucka and am happy he's still doing some work for Marvel. I personally have no interest in a Cyclops book though.

@cheesesticks:

Agree which means either Original Cyclops is going to stay on present for long time.

Posted by KomicKev

I wish it were a 4-5 issue mini-series and not an on-going. As a matter of fact - - give each of the original X-Men their own mini-series.

Edited by HexThis

Oh my god, even after the Trial of Jean Grey the original 5 are still there WTF?! If I were any one of the X-men I would be saying "Let's stop tempting fate you guys, one of these kids could get killed, let's send 'em back". It's silly and nutty to keep them around this long, what the hell are they thinking? We have 2 Cykes, 2 Icemen, 2 Angels, 2 Beasts....isn't it going to get a little convoluted? Just bring Jean back, not all this extra crap.

Posted by Chaos Burn

Oh... great.... more of young X-men promoting Marvels cosmic scene....

Posted by tigerkaya

They had me at Corsair.

Edited by nappystr8

After all these years Cyclops finally gets his own series...and it's not about the real/more interesting Cylops? Rucka's great and the story sounds fun, but I just don't care.

Posted by Lee_Everett

So much yes. So much.

Posted by Dabee

I'm glad I'm not a HUGE X-Men fan, because if I was, all these solo titles (Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, and I'm sure there will be more...) would get really expensive.

Posted by greenlucario

Hasn't Corsair been dead for a while now?

Yeah, pretty sure Vulcan killed him in War of Kings. So confused.

Posted by iceslick

@hexthis: They tried sending them back and it didn't work.

Posted by dbatdog

i like cyclops, the older one. the young one not so much since eventually they will bring them back in their own time stream and we'll forget about them afterwards.
