More Possible 'Justice League' Movie Plot Details

There's a few new rumors surround the alleged Darkseid story.

It was previously reported that the story 'Crisis on New Genesis' (JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA 183-185) could serve as the inspiration for Warner Bros. upcoming team-up movie. Now, some new rumors are popping up about the possible plot.

BOLTS OF ZEUS!
BOLTS OF ZEUS!

The website Cosmic Book News claims an insider has fed them new information about the cosmic themed story. According to the site, Apokolips and New Genesis are in a different dimension, but there's only a "brief mention" of New Genesis. Batman, being a super genius detective and what have you, will be the one to justify the alternate dimension's existence with M-Theory. And how can they or Darkseid travel back and forth? It seems as though the Mother Box will be used as their cosmic taxi.

I suppose just providing the bare basics of the device (essentially a super computer with teleportation capabilities) would be easy enough for non-comic book fans to swallow. After all, a Mother Box can create a Boom Tube, and that's what they need to move between dimensions. As for the plot itself, I still think they'll need to make some heavy modifications. It's packed with far too many characters and isn't new reader friendly at all. Luckily, these movies tend to be inspired by these stories instead of direct adaptations.

You dare speculate on this film so soon?!
You dare speculate on this film so soon?!

Again, this is technically just a rumor and nothing official has been announced surrounding the film aside from a writer (Will Beal). Since it's still so early when it comes to the film, let's have some fun with this one, Viners. Tell us what your dream Justice League movie would be like. What story would you base it off of and which characters would you include? Sound off below and have fun!

I'd rather they use someone else besides Darkseid. Like with the Avengers, no one's ever heard of the Chitauri and most non-comic fans wouldn't know Thanos either. So DC don't need to find a villain that's most popular. I think Imperiex or some one of that calibre.

They don't. Not until after the Justice League film in 2015 or 2016. Then the Flash, Wonder Woman and other films will spawn from that. Admittedly they can't follow the Marvel formula but not being able to use that means the JL film will introduce the rest of the League from the get go without proper introduction to these character's backstories.

Why does every rumor make the movie sound less and less like a good idea? I want a film though, so I'll give Warner Brothers some advice.

1 Base your story on a modernized version of DC's The New Frontier. It has the gravitas and plot you need. Add in shades Justice League :Origin and Final Crisis

2 Don't fall into the trap of using/introducing too many characters. People have to care about everyone they see on screen so only use characters that you can develop. Give everyone on the team equal screen time so that they are equally respected and can win over new fans. Everyone else can be saved for sequels or solo films

3 Do every side of film production well. Simple note. Difficult task.

4 Have a diverse cast or else you will lose the minorities to Marvel (who has War Machine, Heimdall, and soon Falcon). You can get a leg up on Marvel by making a minority a founding member

5 Use a cast of actors who won't make your film so expensive that you can't make your money back, but who can carry individual franchises. For Example:

@OutlawRenegade said:

Superman played by Henry Cavill

Man of Steel.

I won't spend too much time on this one since Henry Cavill has already been cast as the last son of Krypton. I will say that from what we've seen of him in theMan of Steel trailer, he seems to have a grasp on what makes Superman special. He's a natural leader who inspires the confidence of almost everyone around him. He carries hope on his shoulders when there is no hope. Keeping Cavill in the role will help Justice League to make sequel-level profits by bringing in the audience from Man of Steel.

Batman played by Ryan Gosling

Christian Bale does not want to do another Batman film, and Joseph Gorden Levitt has already been cast as "Robin" in the Nolanverse. So who's left to take up the cape and cowl? Who better than Ryan Gosling. Widely recognized as a talented actor with the build for a superhero role, Gosling proved that he was suited to play the Dark Knight when he starred in Drive. In the lead role, he showed us his ability to embody Batman's coldness, gravitas, seriousness, and badassery. Batman may not always be the most popular person among his teammates, but he commands respect and loyalty. On film, Gosling could definitely do that too. Some people may be thrown by Ryan's blonde hair, but he does have the choice to darken it for the role.

Wonder Woman played by Gemma Arterton

Wonder Woman's nickname--the Amazon Princess--illustrates the beautiful dichotomy of her character. She's a powerful, strong-willed woman who would never back down from a fight or a challenge, but she's also a lover of peace who would never seek a fight or a conflict. She's simultaneously both the most fierce and most nurturing member of the team. With her powerful abilities and vast , Diana is capable of going toe-to-toe with just about any hero or villain. Gemma Arterton's roles in Hansel and Gretel and Prince of Persia show that she has what it takes to make Wonder Woman work on screen. In Hansel and Gretel, she plays a tough, seasoned witch hunter who isn't afraid to headbutt her enemies at a moment's notice. In Prince of Persia, she not only showed that she can play regal well, she also did some badass stunts. Oh, and she has a pretty sexy British accent ( accent for foreign cultures and fantasy films in Hollywood), and she can do humor! She's pretty much perfect. She can look more or less Mediterranean with the right tan--as shown in Prince of Persia if that's a concern of yours. She's willing to shoot on location, she's inexpensive right now, and she has already proven that she can do swords and sandals types of movies.

Green Lantern played by Chris Pine

Green Lantern is THE interstellar hero. He was chosen above all others for his courage, his willpower, and his honesty--three vital qualities in a Green Lantern. In many ways, Hal is the most human of the group. He's been irresponsible. He's felt fear. And he's overcome great challenges no matter what set-backs are sent his way. He's always willing to stare death in the face and put his life on the line--something that he does regularly as a test pilot. Not only is he a charming womanizer and light-hearted joker, Hal is also a man's man. He's the guy you want to share drinks with when you go out on a night on the town.

While Ryan Reynolds played the character well in 2011's Green Lantern, the film was a critical flop, and it is not highly regarded by anyone. Justice League is Warner Bros.'s chance to start fresh with the character by recasting him similarly to how Henry Cavill took the Superman role from Brandon Routh and Mark Ruffalo took the Hulk role from Edward Norton. This would be a great way to reboot the character softly so that we can forget about the last film. So who should take the Green Lantern mantle? Look no further than Chris Pine, who played a hero similar to Green Lantern--James Kirk--in 2011's Star Trek.

Cyborg played by Chadwick Boseman

Cyborg is the ultimate combination of man and machine, but his creation came from a tragic accident. Victor Stone was a gifted football player who had trouble connecting with his scientist father. While visiting his father's workplace at S.T.A.R. Labs, an experiment went horribly wrong and destroyed much of Vic's body. Desperate to save his son, Vic's father used several experimental and extraterrestrial technologies that turned Vic into Cyborg. Now Vic is plugged into every computer in the world and is a digital and physical tank.

Victor seldom receives the credit he rightfully deserves. He is an everyman--a people’s superhero. Unlike many of the other heroes, Cyborg is a hero that the public is likely to run into on the streets and interact regularly with, whereas some of his team mates stick to the shadows or fly. He’s approachable and passionate, spending his spare time working with disabled children. He's also one of the military's go-to heroes. These attributes make him indispensable to the team, as he provides a vital link between the Justice League and the people they serve. Furthermore, Cyborg is a hero who as personally experienced loss. This loss permeates his being which sometimes leads to him having deeply introspective moments but, overall, this pain gives Victor direction.

The actor who plays Cyborg needs to be able to shift between being superheroic, sweet, and pained. Chadwick Boseman can do those and do them well. He's set to star alongside Harrison Ford in 42, the Jackie Robinson life story, as Jackie Robinson himself. Warner needs to hire this guy soon, because he may be the next Denzel Washington. But right now, he's still pretty affordable for an ensemble cast.

Take it slow, make it good. If I have to sit through an eight hour long movie those will be the best hours spent in a theater of my life. Oh, and for the sake of all that is pure, do not make it an action-comedy, make it an action movie strictly and have character development- that's how you win everyone over.

Well, Darkseid wouldn't be my first choice for a villain, but I guess he can work, however, I disagree with the majority that say they should make tie in films first, the movie can be perfectly fine without them, the Justice League are not the Avengers.

@OutlawRenegade: No offense but you are sounding very repetitive with your posts on how DC should do a Justice League movie. It's not as if they're reading this and taking notes. They have screenwriters already working on it for this job. Your posts, interesting as they are even though I don't agree with all of them, isn't going to change the Justice League movie I'm afraid.

I still not feeling this movie, I wish there was something before this for flash and aquaman because those are the two of theJL that are usually underestimated. Something like thor that took a character with little public consciousness and thrust him into the lime light in a way that increased his popularity. Just so that people don't do what they did to Hawkeye in Avengers and constantly make fun of him because they knew nothing about him or how awesome he is.

I really hope they know what they're doing. I have all the confidence in the world for Superman, but a full-blown JL film by 2015 is very ambitious, especially done by the same studio that neglected a perfectly good script for the terrible GL film we got.

Not saying it'll fail, but they certainly don't have my confidence right now.

Edit- By "fail" I mean failure as far as story-telling goes. The final product, regardless of how sh*tty it might turn out, will be a box-office titan. Having Superman and Batman in the same movie alone is gonna put asses in the seats quicker than the Flash could sprint.

I know a lot of comics readers get excited over this alternate dimension stuff, but I think a general audience would think it's stupid if the movie tries to go all Silver-Age on everything. If WB tries to treat its live-action movie the same as a DC Animated direct-to-DVD offering, this movie will bomb and bomb hard.

My opinion: Movies aren't comic books. I don't want to see Wolverine in yellow spandex or faithful costume adaptions which just don't look good in real life. I don't want to be bombbarded with campy one-liners. I don't want something that comes across as a Superhero version of Clash of the Titans (heavy on the CG, light on the characterization and acting). In short, what I often read on a weekly basis isn't what I want to see on-screen.

Green Lantern ignored these lessons and was an embarrassment with the general public. People often talk about how great Marvel movies are, but they've made at least as many crappy flicks as they have good. And none are more crappy when they forget to develop a real story for people who haven't grown up on comic books.

I like the real-world approach that Man of Steel seems to be taking. Time will tell whether its a success, but I think it will be a hit with both comic fans and casual viewers. Here's hoping WB builds on this approach and doesn't fling it all out the window in an attempt to be like Marvel. More likely than not, the Marvel they'll achieve is the 3rd X-Men movie.

yeeesh, this is gonna be breathtakingly bad if Warner Bros. are really trying to rush work this out by 2015 just to compete with Avengers 2. no pre-established universe aside from "Man of Steel" -- which was initially written as a self contained story in the same way the Dark Knight trilogy was --, a hastily thrown together team that NO ONE will care about unless the movie is slated to be three hours in length and have a HUGE exposition to showcase the backgrounds of Wonder Woman, Flash, a 'fixed' Green Lantern, Aqua Man, AND introduce Martian Manhunter. and then there's the glaring problem of Darkseid being ENTIRELY too close a villain to Thanos. it will look like Warner Bros. are blatantly riding the nuts of Marvel if their villain looks like a total facsimile of the one Marvel has given the better treatment to.

- cosmic origin (check)

- large opposing frame (check)

- harsh blueish-purple craggy skin (check)

- maniacal plan for destruction/subjugation of human race (double check)

and whats TRULY sad about all this...DARKSEID CAME FIRST!! sigh... i want to see a Justice League movie guys, i reeeeally do...but this whole project sounds like its a knee-jerk reaction to Disney/Marvel slapping the taste out of Warner Bros.' mouth with their cinematic universe.

I would prefer the New Gods be the usual aliens but I am ok with them being in a different dimension since science fiction fans are familiar with alternate dimensions. Visually, we know they will be using star gates or boom tubes whether the New Gods are from far away space or from another dimension. It is also very easy to control the number of New Gods characters since all of them have to pass thru the star gates so just use a few characters only and save some other New Gods characters for future movies. Using star gates for travel is slightly more believable than Superman flying at super speed to another galaxy. If you look at the science, even flying at light speed, it can take thousands of years or billions of years to reach another galaxy depending on which galaxy you are talking about. I prefer the New Gods to be in disguise on earth for many months learning the english language so there will be an explanation why the New Gods can speak in english and this was how the Transformers learned english also. Can also give some explanation on why humans and aliens look alike by giving maybe a common origin for both with some fictional creation story or evolution story. If the movie concentrates on the minions like Kalibak, Kanto, Black Racer, etc., this will avoid comparisons with Thanos. I prefer Darkseid as a planner rather than a slugger bec. kings are supposed to have followers who will do the actual hard work. Darkseid is also more known for his brain than his being the hulk.

As long as this leads to a Flash movie and another Batman franchise (was gonna happen sooner or later), I'll be fine. I want to see Batman take on the Court of Owls for his next film. That'd be believable enough. right?

My idea for a good Justice League movie was to have the original 7 come together to fight Amazo and then an invasion by the Appellaxians ushered in by Professor Ivo. Only to find out at the end that Ivo was under Starro's control the entire time.

Haha, you seem to be one of those people who is frequently wrong but never in doubt. If you don't know something, then just google it.

Henry Cavill 6'1"

Chadwick Boseman 6'1"

Ryan Gosling 6'1"

Gemma Arterton 5'7"

Chris Pine 6'1"

And in Road To Perdition, Daniel Craig played a whiner and a wimp, but he's a badass James Bond, so...? You're wrong. Actors do this thing called ACTING. And Chadwick is not playing a coward in 42, so...?

You know that trolling is frowned upon here, don't you?

Also, do what Nolan and Snyder did by focusing on making a good film first rather than getting down a perfect adaptation for comic book readers (who are a tiny minority of the population). Of course don't go so far in this direction that the characters are unrecognizable.

Here's what I don't get: I know DC doesn't want to look outmatched by Marvel in the superhero films department. But if they rush out a Justice League film, they'll look worse. Why don't they go in a different direction? Maybe Vertigo? Can you imagine a Sandman movie? Or even better, a Sandman franchise? That would be able to rival the Avengers. I like that they're making the Justice League movie, but I think they're rushing into it too quickly and ignoring better options. But that's just my opinion.

Also I don't see the logic behind every hero needs an origin movie before the JL movie. It would be cool if they did it like Smallville when Impulse first showed up, he mentions briefly how he got his powers. Its a superhero movie I really don't think we need to be bogged down in too many specifics here. Green Lantern's origin is covered. Batman and Superman are covered. And you can easily tell Wonder Woman's and Cyborg's origin in the movie. Martian Manhunter might be a bit trickier if they go with him but "he's an alien thats come down to from space to help" isn't that hard to explain.

Why does Batman have to explain it why can't somone else like Superman or any hero with interglatic ties. Am I the only who knows that Superman is the greatest scientist on earth and could figure out and explain it. You could even introduce a new character that could explain it, maybe Orion.

Maybe if they combine Crisis on New Genesis with some Justice League Origin, they'll be able to have the best of both worlds. ie an engaging (even intricate) story in a slightly more simplistic format.

@OutlawRenegade: Ryan Gosling is not a good fit for Batman...far too pretty, and I don't think that he would be right for the part....I can't see him doing Bruce and Batman. Eric Bana is a much better choice IMO.

I really wish they would not use Darkseid at all this early on....I'd much rather see Crisis on infinite earths or Something like World War 3 with Black Adam announced.

Darkseid is a terrible villain to use for a Justice League movie, as Thanos is being used in Avengers 2.

They should plot first a movie about Flash and Wonder woman before even attempting a Justice League movie.

Personally, I say DC should scrap the Justice League idea all together. They are going to come across as a greedy copy-cat and will lose a lot of potential viewers if they are trying to do something similar to Marvel. My suggestion: Target a "different" audience with you movies. Instead of a Justice League movie...do a Teen Titans film. Its already been shown how successful the stories of Teen Heroes can be with the animated TT series as well as Young Justice. Take a risk DC and go with the Teen heroes as opposed to your big names. You are just going to confuse people considering Marvel is doing the same thing and Nolan's batman will cause confusion without Bale. Thats my opinion at least.

How about you watch the Batman/Superman movie or read Batman: Year One before you tell me how handsome Bruce Wayne is? He's supposed to be one of the most handsome men in the DC universe, and he's such a playboy that no one believes that he's Batman.

Stop hating on Gosling because he's handsome. HE CAN ACT, and he's the right age for he role unlike Bana, who has nearly twenty years on Cavill. Also, Christian Bale was pretty handsome too, so? And Gosling will bring in a large female audience to what is traditionally male franchise. Warner knows that, and they love that $$$$$

I don't know anyone who fancasts Bana other than you. Do you look alike or something?

Can't wait for this movie to come out. I would have loved to see Michael Clarke Duncan as Darkseid (RIP) my friend. But hands down I hope this movie is a good combo of both substance, backstory and of course great FX. Not just a buch of booms and bangs in 3d etc.

@OutlawRenegade: See, Handsom and Pretty are not synonym. Gosling is pretty, not exactly handsome. And yes, he is a great actor, but he hasn't shown an amazing range yet. I haven't seen anything that would make me think he can be a charming charismatic Bruce Wayne and an intimidating Batman. Although, I'm sure he is capable of it.

I'm not hating on Gosling because he is pretty, I honestly just don't think he is the right guy for the role. I have nothing against the guy, but when I see him, and after seeing his movies, there is nothing about him that screams Batman, while other actors do.

Batman SHOULD be older, and in any case Bana is about the same age as Bale, a much more appropriate age for the role. The Werewolf from True Blood is also a good choice, although he would need to prove himself. He looks a hell of a lot more liek Bruce Wayne does from the comics.

On the left....that's what Bruce Wayne should look like. Not a pretty preppy blonde blue eyed schoolboy.
