When Blackest Night #1 came out, comic shops had the option of ordering 'free' rings to give away, depending on how many issues they ordered (they also had to buy the rings to give away). For the most part, it seemed everyone was happy with the quality of the ring. I guess you could say this was a successful marketing idea.
If it worked with Blackest Night #1, why not continue? There are plenty of other 'colored' rings that could be given away. According to Bleeding Cool, DC is doing just that. Targeting upcoming Blackest Night tie-ins, for every 25 copies of Doom Patrol #4, Booster Gold #26, R.E.B.E.L.S. #10, Outsiders #24 that retailers order, they can order a bag of fifty Sinestro rings, Agent Orange rings, Indigo Tribe rings and Star Sapphire rings (respectively).
What about the other colors? For every 50 copies of Justice League of America #39, Blackest Night #5 and Adventure Comics #4, they can order a bag of fifty Red Lantern rings, Green Lantern rings and Blue Lantern rings (respectively).
The rings will ship every two weeks beginning with yellow on November 4th.
One thing to keep in mind, this might not be the same type of give away as the Black ring was. As I mentioned, retailers have to actually pay for the rings and also have to order more copies than they might normally order. Some retailers might even pass on them altogether. I would suggest you start talking to your retailer today and and perhaps point them to this page.
Which ring(s) do you really want to add to your collection?
