Moon Knight Strikes Back With A Vengeance

There's a new Moon Knight series coming in September!

Let me say that I like Moon Knight.  I really do.  I know a lot of people say he's a Batman rip-off.  I never quite saw him that way.  For one, he was a mercenary.  Bruce Wayne isn't.  Moon Knight had a "rich playboy" identity but it was just one of a few he had.  I was overjoyed when Charlie Huston and David Finch brought Moon Knight back.  But then he started getting a little...crazy.  It felt like the momentum of the comic started going down and then we saw the "death" of Marc Spector.

Next month, Moon Knight is back.  What's better is he'll be gunning for Norman Osborn.  Writer Gregg Hurwitz and artist Jerome Opeña are bringing him back to New York in a double sized first issue of Vengeance Of The Moon Knight.  It looks like Moon Knight has added a bunch of high tech weaponry to his arsenal (I'm not too sure how I feel about that).  What we'll have to wait to see is who did he get the weapons and armor from.  We'll also have to see if he's still willing to kill criminals.

The covers will be by Leinil Francis Yu, Tim Sale and Alex Ross and is on sale on September 2, 2009 with a $3.99 cover price (since it's "extra-sized").

What do you think?  Are you ready for Moon Knight's return?  Do you care?  What do you think of his new look?  Do you like him using guns and other gadgets?  Will Norman be prepared for him?

Moon Knight doesn't use guns.

people sayin moon knight is a batman rip off is stupid. its just like sayin aquman is a namor rip-off, they're both 2 completely different people with the same powers, moon knight is cool but batman is better. namor may have been first but aquaman is way better.

i can't wait to get this
is this a ongoing or mini-series

is it only me or does the premise of Moon Knight's new volume sound a lot like Rick Remender's Punisher did when it started? It even has the Sentry

This looks pretty cool, I must say. I like that he's using hi-tech gadgets now, and hopefully they did away with all the lousy Khonshu hallucinations. And I also want to voice my opinion that it's got some nice artwork, too.

NO GADGETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He looks pretty cool with blazing guns, though.

Moon Knights always been one of my favorite minor characters...but guns? No thanks. PASS!

I also like Moon Knight but his title never lasted long enough for me to get into any complete stories.  Maybe this time will be different.  I really am digging the art on this, looks great, has a great "rough" look and feel to it, meshes perfectly.

YAY!

See,ms like the whole Marvel Universe is about ready to start gunning for Osborn. About time at that.

@King Quisling: Well he does now Lol

I'm looking forward to this, was just getting ready to read the other title. Never really read MK much.

I don't see the point of gunning after Norman. NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!! Nothing will happen till the end of Dark Reign. I don't see why they are sending so many people after and than nothing happens. Look at deadpool. He ended up shooting himself in the head cause he got so fckin bored. (Still a good story arc). I'll probably still get it cause I did start to like Moon Knight at the begining of the series. But, I just stoped. Forgot why.

I saw this earlier on Marvel. I'm so excited for this. I like the guns too.

I'm excited

MOON KNIGHT!!!!!!!! I was worried for a while after the Down South arc....what Huston, Finch and Benson have done with Moon Knight has been great. The constant inner voice of Khonshu was some of the best dialogue I've read. I loved when Osborn sent his first Thunderbolts after Moon Knight, I'm excited to see what he puts in front of him this time. Good stuff. More people ought to read Moon Knight.

Already heard of it, but cool a preview!!!
Thank God, it weren't regular guns that shoot bullets and this is going to be pretty awesome!

Posted by MoonKnightFan123

Ok sorry, he did use guns. I thought it shot ropes, but it shot bullets. MOON KNIGHT DOESN'T USE GUNS!!! WTF!!!!

I somewhat agree. They need to just stick to one ongoing Moon Knight series.

But Moon Knight is a worthy character.

Read some essentials or Charlie Houstons first book. Mike Benson took the character and crapped all over him and now whoever is writing this mini is only twisting him farther and farther from the characters roots.

Moon Knight Should get love, as should Ghost Rider. These guys need a book, lets take some of the X-Men first class that has poor sales and give books like this a shot. I would say lets get rid of some of the wolverine books, but really they're all pretty good right now. Lol

@jefprice:  Trust me MK more than any other Marvel character deserves the rep but not like this. Once Benson just claimed that Khonshu never existed then the whole character was screwed over. The great thing about reading classic MK stories is the fact that you couldn't tell if he was just crazy or if Khonshu was actually real but then Houstons run was basicallly him trying to show Khonshu DOES exist and Marc had to prove himself to it again. Show that he was worth being the gods avatar. Then Benson took what Houston was trying to establish with the character and wiped his ass with it.

@King Quisling: Well I already read the first books preview, and the stuff that was being done before it, I've enjoyed it. I liked some of the older stuff, but like I said before I never really read it. I'd pick it up now and again but that was it.

From what I've seen of this new book, I think it's going to be at the least enjoyable. I will say, I think the guns may take some of the effect away, but he does look pretty wicked with them.

The preview is short, but from what's there it looks decent. But Like I sadi I'm not a hardcore MK fan. I always liked GR better. I will say I really like the art in the new book.

@jefprice: Are you going to read Heaven's on Fire?
Posted by jefprice
@King Quisling: Yes sir. Excited for it. I just started reading GR again. Been collecting the run that just ended.

If so many people agreed..those wouldn't be Marvel's lowest selling single character books.

@Vance Astro: MK is just an unknown, he's mostly always been that way. GR just isn't pushed. And when you have tens upon tens of books flooding the market that are all tie-ins books like these get dropped for books that are tied in.

They could easily do with MK and GR what they did with Deadpool to boost his popularity. The used Wolverine for starters, gave him a few minis and made him a part of their major events. It's that easy.
