Merlyn, The Dark Archer, On Smallville January 22, 2010

Green Arrow's past will be coming up to cause problems.

There's been some confusion over the January 22 episode of Smallville.  The air date for the two-hour Absolute Justice episode has gone back and forth between January and February.  The latest word is that we'll see the Justice Society of America on February 5.
What can we expect for the January 22 episode?  Kryptonsite has posted a synopsis for the episode "Disciple."

NO LOVERS, NO ALLIES, NO DISCIPLES - INTRODUCING DC COMICS CHARACTER THE DARK ARCHER - Oliver’s (Justin Hartley) past comes back to haunt him in the form of The Dark Archer (guest star Steve Bacic), Oliver’s former teacher, who seeks revenge on his student by taking aim at Lois (Erica Durance) and Chloe (Allison Mack). Oliver faces down The Dark Archer after his former mentor kidnaps Mia AKA “Speedy” (guest star Elise Gatien) but is pushed to his limit and Clark (Tom Welling) races to stop him from making another deadly mistake.

Bruce Vain found the following image online for the actor playing Merlyn (Dark Archer).

This isn't Steve Bacic fist portrayal of a comic book character.  He previously played Human Beast on X-Men 2.  Whose show is this now, Clark's or Ollie's?

Right now, Ollie is more interesting on the show than Clark.

or any other character for that matter

I think Smallville doesn't understand Ollie or half the characters the use.

Good job, though, to Bruce Vain for getting the images.

Just Googled this guy and it appears that he was in the smallville pilot as a garage worker

Ollie is the only reason I watch it anymore. Well also the times they feature guest heroes.

They all look like crappy Halloween costumes. Ollie needs a beard on the show. He looks (and sounds) like a douche

So The Dark Archer is Merlyn now.

I love when the show brings in other DC character, no matter how good or bad the adaption in fans eyes, it's just a nice homage IMO

agreed. they tried to make a retelling, and then around season 4 it was suddenly a sort of elseworld.  and all the while they've been confusing the new fans with these... stories. im just bugged. i may still watch this JSA ep though.

Pretty cool news. Wonder if there will be any "League of Assassin" references.

Merlyn is by far the best Green Arrow villain. I thought he'd appear on Smallville sooner or later.

Oh boy, another Calvin Klein model joins cw's crap-ville. Tell me when they cancel this garbage.

Jacob, the costumes look sick....what are you talking about? lol
Anywho, this show rocks...screw you haters...don't watch it if you don't like it, still 10  years is more then most shows last or even come close to. Period...
Can't wait to see Dark Archer.
