MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 Trailer!!!

Some of you thought you'd never see this.

It's been too long in coming.
It's been too long in coming.

This one of the few times I’ve shouted, “Holy crap!” upon coming across a bit of comics news, and I’m so glad that it's coming from our Whiskey brothers at Giant Bomb.

MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3: FATE OF TWO WORLDS is coming out spring 2011 for the 360 and PS3.

I have to say…. I CALLED IT! I called it, I called it, I called it. Starting with X-MEN: CHILDREN OF THE ATOM, I’ve been a fan of Capcom’s Marvel-based fighting games and crossovers. Seriously, much of my misspent youth was consumed in arcades, playing and beating MARVEL SUPER HEROES, X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER, STREET FIGHTER VS. MARVEL SUPER  HEROES and both MARVEL VS. CAPCOM games. I’ll state, most confidently, that these were best the video games to draw from any comic. The best, in the whole history of gaming. And I’ve been really baffled  as to why it’s been ten years since MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 2, why the two companies didn’t just keep cranking more games out, because I’m not alone… the demand is still there in both fanbases.

Thus, I feel some vindication regarding this, because when MVC2 was re-released a few months for XBOX Live, I was pretty sure it was meant to test the waters to see if there was still interest in a third game. Obviously, the test was success and we’ve got an awesome teaser trailer below.

GB says that this new game is supposed to have a roster of 30 characters (a little more manageable than the 60-70 odd ones that were in MVC2), and you’ll be picking teams of three (just like MVC2) for your combat bouts. The trailer confirms that Hulk, Iron Man, Wolverine, Ryu from STREET FIGHTER, Morrigan from DARK STALKERS and Chris Redfield from RESIDENT EVIL will be in the line-up. Additionally, it’s clear from the silhouettes that Deadpool and STREET FIGHTER’s Chun-Li  will also be in the line-up.

Who else is as excited about this as I am? What characters do YOU want to see in this, oh combo-racking Comic Vine community? C’mon! I’m gonna take you for a ride.
