Last week we talked about the special offer Marvel gave to retailers. If comic shops turn in 50 stripped covers to certain Blackest Night tie-in books, they could get a FREE Siege #3 ultra rare variant featuring Deadpool. This announcement sparked a lot of debate over whether or not Marvel was making taking a dig at DC or if they were simply looking out for the retailers that might've ordered too many copies and were stuck with them.
Today Marvel has revealed that special Deadpool cover. It features the art by superstar J. Scott Campbell.
There it is. What would that cover be worth? It's Deadpool. It's J. Scott Campbell. It's (supposed to be) super rare. One of the questions was how much would the variant sell for. Retailers do not pay cover price for their comics. The more they order, the bigger the break. But even if they payed 50% of the cover price, to destroy 50 issues to send in the covers in order to get one copy of this variant, they'll have to slap a pretty high price tag on it. It will be interesting to see how fast and how much it starts selling for on ebay and how many people will actually pay for it.
