Marvel To Release "Iron Man Vs. Whiplash" Mini

Marvel starts preparing fans for the upcoming "Iron Man 2" film!

The release of a new Marvel superhero film is a good indication that a new comic book series is on it's way! To prepare for the upcoming Iron Man 2 film, Marvel will be releasing a four issue mini series starting November 4th centered around the relationship between Tony Stark and one of his greatest adversaries; Whiplash! This is a fantastic way to gear up for the upcoming film! The solicit does an awesome job of hyping up the series, and I personally can't wait to pick this one up! The first issue of "Iron Man Vs. Whiplash" is written by Brannon Braga and Marc Guggenheim with pencils by Phil Briones and the cover by Brandon Peterson. Check out these incredible new images courtesy of Marvel!

Before he strikes in "Iron Man 2," meet the all-new, all-different, all-deadly Whiplash in this special in-continuity adventure! Who is Anton Vanko and why does he blame Tony Stark for the murder of thousands? For that matter, why does the United Nations? If it's jet-setting, globe-trotting, eye-popping action you crave, IRON MAN VS. WHIPLASH will make you believe that Tony Stark is indeed a cool exec with a heart of steel...and Whiplash is the fiend that will break it!”

art looks great. not too much on picking up comics that are basically made for new readers to learn more bout the characters as they mostly non canon, but for the art itself may give this mini a shot

Is that what the movie whiplash is gonna look like?

They should have done this closer to the movie's release and they also should have integrated some aspect of it into the main Invincible Iron Man series.

Since this is canon in Marvel, will this Anton Vanko be connected to the Anton Vanko who became the first  Crimson Dynamo and later died?

Perhaps Anton Vanko, Jr? Oterwise its two guys with the same first and last name who happen to have fought Iron Man. Thats possible too.

From what I understand, movie Whiplash is an amalgam of Dynamo and Whiplash. From what I’ve heard, other than the whips and name, he’s actually got more in common with Crimson Dynamo. I was shocked when they announced he’d be the villain considering Whiplash isn’t especially well known or significant to the Iron Man books, but then I heard he’s really basically Dynamo, an arguably better character and far more important villain in the mythos.

Are you sure that's whiplashes final costume in the film?

I saw this... it made me laugh.  Redesigning the costume to look less S & M ready for when the mommies & daddies buy the comics for their kids after the next film ;)

They should have picked a better villain instead of pretending Whiplash is not only powerful enough to hand with Tony but also relevant enough to be in the movie. They should have used Rampage,The Beetle,Whirlwind,Ultimo...anybody but this guy.

Makes sense they would want to familiarize people with this villain before the movie can come out.

Makes you wonder if they would ever do the Mandarin for a movie. Science verses Magic.

I hope that's gonna be Whiplash his movie outfit, seeing as the first picture was a prototype.

Redesign doesn't look to bad

Might want to try reading the actual article at top. I already knew all that about the movie. I wasn't asking about the movie with Whiplash. I was referring to the comic book mini-series, Iron Man vs Whiplash, which the article is about and how it mentions that the mini will be an "in-continuity adventure."

@reaper2923: Yeah I know thats what I was thinking, but would they really show the suit like that if the movie wasn't out yet? Not to mention the Trailer hasn't even been shown to those who werent able to make it to the Iron Man 2 panel...

Only one shoulder pad? Hell, if all I was wearing was a glorified metal singlet I know I'd sustain some serious burns and such to my shoulders. Hope he's got good control of those things....

I like the design better than what I've seen in other pics of him

Dude looks stoned or something in his picture. He probably doesn't even know what he read there.

i'm telling you guys, the whiplash/blacklash whips were hand held, they did not, i repeat, did not shoot out of his wrists, this guy has more in common with the constrictor than with whiplash, i know i'm not the only one who notices this
