Marvel Television To Make Big Announcements At New York Comic-Con

Get a look at an image from the upcoming episode of 'Ultimate Spider-Man' on Disney XD and much more.

Yesterday we got a look at Marvel's next big animated movie, Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United which is scheduled to hit stores on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 23rd, 2013. The article gave us a look at the character designs and the way animators melded computer animation with hand illustrated characters in a really cool way. Yet apparently, that's not all that Marvel Television has cooking up their sleeve. According to a recent press release, Marvel Television will be making some very big announcements at New York Comic-Con next week.

No Caption Provided

According to the head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, the Marvel Universe has been a pretty big success on Dixney XD; which is why the company is so looking forward to the upcoming convention to discuss future Marvel animated projects.

“The Marvel Universe on Disney XD is a huge hit, we wanted to thank our fans at New York Comic Con with something big,” said Loeb. “So we’re going to bring new footage, some new surprises and even more."

New footage of the previously announced Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United movie, or perhaps something more? Or maybe well be seeing news about the already pretty successful Ultimate Spider-Man television series on Disney XD? Marvel also gave us a look at a teaser image for the upcoming episode of Ultimate Spider-Man, set to premiere on Disney XD Sunday, October 28th at 11am/10c. The question is, who is the character in the foreground of the image? What do you think?

Are you planning on hitting New York Comic-Con? Will you be attending the Marvel Television panel on Saturday, October 15th at 4:15 in Room 1E13? What Marvel property would you like to see become a Marvel animated television show?

Watched this weekend and saw a preview for New Avengers. Thought they were rebranding the show as Avengers Assemble. But it shows it as Mighties Heroes and they are taking on the New Avengers (Wolverine, Spider-man) and facing Kang.

Im glad that Im not the only one who doesn't like Ultimate Spider Man. Its all action and randomness and no depth. Im not saying that it has to be dark or angsty but everyone likes some substance in their shows. I like EMH because it balances humor, action, and depth very well, and its disappointing to see it go. Now that I think about it, Peter is kind of a douche in this show, which is really unappealing.

Marvel, you need to step it up and make something like Young Justice. You could beat them too if you had a solid release schedule. EMH was one of the best Marvel shows I've seen (not counting things from the 90's). Step that up to a more serious level and stop pandering to the 5 year olds. Try the actual fanbase of 12-18 or higher. Heck, Green Lantern the Animated Series is whooping Ultimate Spider-man. Try harder please.

But Green Lantern IS a good series...

For some odd ass reason, Marvel just can't seem to do right with their tv shows. They had 3 great shows that dropped the ball on. They need to take a look at what DC is doing with their shows because they seem to know what they're doing when it comes to animated things better than Marvel does

Marvel always abandons their best animation properties, they did it with Silver Surfer, Wolverine and the X-men and Now EMH. Ultimate Spiderman is painful to watch but will probably last because it's Loeb and Bendis' brainchild. I hope the new Avengers cartoon will be Marvel's Young Justice as far as tone, writing and animation (I mean Peter David has written a couple of episodes of the series). I have a deep fear for what kind of crapfest Hulk and Agents of Smash might be...

EMH is good... I mean like it could be to my little brother what 90's xmen is to me (big age difference between us). I loved the avengers movie so I guess I'll be keeping an open mind, but it seems ridiculous to call this a continuation of the EMH I guess im more leery of "Hulk agent of SMASH"

Ultimate Spider man's problem is very simple there portrayal of peter is disgusting he's a complete idiot and a total brat who loves the sound of his own voice, I hate to think of kids watching this and thinking that this is who that character is and that its okay to act like that, totally destroys the hero peter parker is.

@fodigg: Loeb said in more or less there would but chances are probably not. Unless they had told the production team of EMH that after picking up the second season that would be it. It feels like its reaching some conclusion but one that would be open ended for more stories to be told. I guess we'll find out soon enough because we're reaching near the end of EMH episodes.

@fodigg: Not so much cancelled but there won't be any new episodes apparently it was always their intention for a 52-56 episode run. (Which is a lot for Animation Avatar/Batman Beyond had similar lengths.) The new Avengers show which is owned by Disney is suppose to maintain the continuity of EMH or at the least spiritually succeed it. Unfortunately the cast from EMH probably won't be in it which sucks because they had an amazing voice cast. Hopefully the art team can capture what made EMH great while giving their new artistic take on the Avengers.

that was just b.s. that Loeb said to try and calm people down....how is it a continuation if it's completely different animation, has a completely new voice cast, and doesn't reference anything from EMH? don't fall for his lies

First off your avatar is awesome second will have to wait and see. Chances are you're right and it will have no connection or very loose connections. Just because its a different art team doesn't mean it can't share the same continuity (Examples: Transformers G1 / Beast Wars and Ben 10 / Ben 10 Omniverse (Huge change in art direction) ). I love EMH it won me over fast and has made me a fan of characters I had just always passed over. Specifically Ant Man, Wasp, Black Panther, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, and many more. The cartoons have always been my way into comics which is probably because I'm in the animation/games industry. Anyways I feel your frustration I wish they weren't stopping EMH and with Ultimate Spider Man missing its mark for me despite its pedigree (Radomsky and Dini) its made me weary of Marvel Animation projects. Compared to DC they have rarely hit their mark and Disney hasn't produced great shows in quite some time despite a few exceptions (Kick Buttowsky and Gravity Falls).

Unfortunately nothing can be done about the fate of EMH it has had a good run 52 episodes is a lot for animation as I'm sure you're well aware of. Hopefully it does have some kind of conclusion and doesn't end with plot lines open that may not be addressed in the new Avengers series. Also despite how much I love EMH its not fair to hate on the new team who are more than likely huge marvel comics fans themselves.(Which I'm not accusing you of but a mere generalization at some of the outrage of EMH cancellation). So until the new series starts up will just have to wait and see what comes of it and if it does keep some of the threads from EMH. If it doesn't hopefully it can be a great Avengers series on its own.

I miss Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men and (although I haven't finished watching Season 2) Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I really tried to like Ultimate Spider-Man but... it's hard!

I know right they were really awesome. I was sooooo looking forward to seeing Age of Apocalypse animated at last and Spectacular Spiderman had Gwen as Peter's main girl with MJ showing interest while in his inner circle of friends. EMH had a great relationship formed between the characters and interesting storylines. I feel it's selfish that Loeb left this out of Ultimate Spiderman because he personally didn't like shows that had a story arc. It isn't about what he wants, but what fans want to see. The upbeat Spidey theme is okay but the randomness of the episodes and whacky adventures (thor the frog, spiderman 4th wall monolouges) have to go. I for one love shows with continuation and that's the main thing Ultimate Spiderman lacks. More than likely the new Avengers animation and Hulk Agents of SMASH might be in the same format of Ultimate Spiderman in attempts to reach younger viewers ages 5-13

The announcements will only piss us off even more.

It's more of Marvel covering their ears from all the criticism we've given Ultimate Spider-Man, even people who liked the show at first are losing interest. Avengers Assemble is going to reference nothing from EMH, That movie is going to do nothing interesting. Seriously, I want to stop hating Jeph Loeb so LET HIM RETIRE!

Get someone like Greg Weisman.
