Marvel Teases New GAMBIT Series in August

Oh my. Well, I'll enjoy this while it lasts.

I like Gambit...maybe I'll see how this is...

Nobody cares about The Thieves Guild, Belldonna, Candra, etc. We really only care about Gambit. Not his origin, not his conscience, and definitely not about his family. Gambit, Rogue, Magneto and the love triangle is really all we care about. 

- I'm surprised it took this long for him to get another series, maybe this time they can give him something to do

- As cool as the character is, without some kind of real purpose it will get stale fast

- X-23 fans can expect to see her here at least as a semi-regular cameo

Agreed completely. I love the X-Men but a strong majority of the Marvel books are either X-Men or Avengers books now.

*Sigh* I know I'll be picking up this series mainly because Gambit is my favorite mutant. But as soon as I get invested in it, it will be cancelled and I'll wonder why I even bothered.

It's time to play some cards. =P

As a character Gambit is one of the best X-Men ever.

As a leading character, he suffers.

Nobody cares about The Thieves Guild, Belldonna, Candra, etc. We really only care about Gambit. Not his origin, not his conscience, and definitely not about his family. Gambit, Rogue, Magneto and the love triangle is really all we care about. And that, is not enough to carry an ongoing series.

I hope they replace all of Wolverine's books with Gambit 

YES!!!! As long as they keep Wolverine away from this it will be amazing! Who am I kidding they'll still use this as a way to have more books featuring wolverine... :(. But nonetheless this is great news! Some love for the ragin' cajun! Just hope that Bachalo is not on the art, I can't stand his work.

I want to get interested! But I know it's something I like so it wont last long! Have to wait for the tpb.

im definitly going to get this! one of my favorite x-men characters getting a series of his own....hmmmm but then again it might get cancelled because of that reason. most self titled marvel books usually do :/

and i prefer when is a character series with another name, example rouge's comics is x-men legacy

The time when just announcing a series starring Gambit (or a lot of X-men) generates excitement is long gone. Marvel has really watered down (or squandered) this character so badly recently that this announcement does nothing for me. I am not saying this series could not be good with a good creative team and an interesting take on the character. But as a marquee name makes people jump at a book, Gambit is no longer one of those.

I think this is pretty good news

Miniseries I can see I've enjoyed them in the past. Not sure how much power Gambit has as a solo title.

@TDK_1997: I don't know maybe Marvel is trying to go back to the 80s and 90 when the X-men were extremely popular and their was a new x-men related series coming out every month.

Maybe they can explore the backstory of why he needs to constantly wear that cowl/hood/headband/neck brace contraption he wears.

@Arevish Totally agree. There are way too many X-titles out at the moment. That said I may go against that and actually get this one as it's a character I really like!

@Billy Batson Gambit's no Wolverine? Thank god for that. I don't mind old Sharp Claws but he's in EVERYTHING right now! Here's hoping that they don't feel the need for that many Mutton Chops cameos...(although we know they will have 'em...)

Gambit is my favourite comic book character, and I've really liked his past series. He's been underused for so long that's it's about time he got his own book again. I obviously think that he's an awesome and compelling character, but I also think that he can easily hold his own series because he has so much story potential as a solo character. He has a rich "mythology" of his own, and he comes with cool supporting characters like Belladonna, Mercy, Jean-Luc LeBeau, and Courier. I love the mystical New Orleans scene he comes from, so I'm hoping this series will get him back to sweet old N'Awleans.

Now I'm just hoping that this book will get a great creative team.

He can contain his own series because he is an interesting read and provides a lot of action and bloody scenes.

When I saw the title topic, I let out a massive sigh.

The whole point of getting rid of Daken and X23 is to downsize the X-Titles, and now seeing Marvel release X-Treme X-Men and Gambit, I feel a dissapointed.

But then again, Gambit has been written quite badly recently, hopefully this is some form redemption for the character...
