Marvel Teaser: The Avengers Need to Assemble to face Thanos with a Cosmic Cube

The team's going to need all the luck they can get.

Have you been keeping up with AVENGERS ASSEMBLE? I have to admit, for some strange reason I haven't. I don't know why. I love Bendis and Bagley. And now Thanos is popping in with a freakin' cosmic cube? Check out the latest teaser for issue #7.

No Caption Provided
With the Mad Titan, Thanos, out of the reach from Earth’s Mightiest – his quest for power and domination over the Marvel Universe continues in Avengers Assemble #7! But the Avengers won’t go down without a fight, and courtesy of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, they’re bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy with them! But can even their combined strength defeat Thanos with a cosmic cube in his possession? Find out in Avengers Assemble #7, hitting comic shops everywhere, the Marvel Comics app, and Marvel Digital Comic Shop this September.

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE #7 (JUL120551)

@Mutant God: I personally think the Nova that appeared in the Marvel Now! tease is Garthan Saal. He appeared in Nova #25 . He was wearing the same black-ish costume when he was talking with Malik Tarcel.

I'll pick up the trade when it's all set and done.

I've been picking up Avengers vs Xmen because I respect the legacy of Marvel. So yeah...

But, I'm going to buy Infinity Gauntlet because I'm nostalgic and I haven't read it since I was a kid.

Thanos is awesome!  I really hope he's the villain in the next Avengers movie.

(Although, honestly, I've really only seen him in Super Hero Squad.  What, you don't watch it?  It's directed at 7-year-olds?  Who cares...)

Does anyone actually read this book? I won't be surprised if it gets canceled when Marvel cancels all of their other crappy books in October.

I'm excited about this and will be checking it out but i also am not surprised since we all know Thanos will probably be fighting the avengers in the next film. So this a good way to advertise him. In fact he has the cosmic cube which is the comic book version of the tesseract.

Of course it is. Guardians of the galaxy are in this story and it deals with the cube as well as the avengers? Joe Q is nothing but predictable when it comes to him selling out the company to people who would never pick up a comic book in their life.

Thanos has an artifact of infinite power, and an assortment of heroes must try to stop him. The only twist here is that it's something he's already had before. Apparently, even the Mad Titan must go back to his greatest hits to stay relevant.

Not picking this up because Bendis pandered to the Movie and made Hawkeye and Black Widow hook up, even though Natasha is in the most stable relationship in comics with Bucky.

A great man once said that history repeats it'self, first time as tragedy, second time as farce. This is something Marvel might want to remember.

This series is crap. The worst Avengers-related title. Bad characterization, a dissapointing Hulk, stupid plot, meh art from Bagley and Bendis' boring dialogues. I hope Waid takes over the title and change the roster, or else we are screwed.

If this book is "canon" it can be only in the loosest possible sense of the word. It can't be current 616 continuity because this is not the current line up of the team. Possibly these are supposed to be past adventures (and maybe some of them could be considered as such) but I'd argue against that theory as well: there are just too many inconsistencies to be reconciled. For one thing, Banner hasn't been involved with the Avengers during their fights against Thanos (that I can remember, anyway). That leaves only two options: either previous 616 continuity is being discarded in favor of that being newly established by this book, or this book takes place outside 616 (and is canon there). I prefer to think of this book as taking place in or very close to whatever universe the MCU exists in.

If it is canon, it's kinda stupid they gave no explanation to this at all. Also, Hulk in this book is ALLL WRONG when compared to his own title. If this is canon...then someone isn't paying attention.

That said, the book did get a little bit better as it went on. Wouldn't be all that torn up about it if it were cancelled though.

Bendis doesn't pay attention to continuity, not even current continuity.

You know what annoys me the most: they are already making billions with this movie, what do they need to put out a whore like sseries in addition to that. Don't they realize it is actually harming their image (and their fans)?

this book drives me insane.

For on one hand if it is a book about the "Movie" Avengers in their universe then this is a fun read. BUT if they are trying to tie the events of this book into the main universe this is a piece of sloppy writing in the highest order.

1) HULK doesn't act that way

2) When does this tale take place

If the Avengers are knee deep in dealing with the X-men, and as last we knew the Gaurdians of the Galaxy where wearing matching uniforms ( a small gripe, I know) and star lord, thanos, and nova were all trapped ( yes, I said TRAPPED) In the cancer verse

When would this have taken place??

They really dropped the ball on this book by not making it clear where it stands in the grand scheme, Because how can you not love Marc Bagley on the Avengers?

The more and more time moves on I am thinking they really need a new creative vision at Marvel and get the House of Ideas in order

My theory is that Thanos is going to try something new with the cosmic cube. They didn't exactly say that the cosmic cube was better then the infinity gauntlet. I think they`re just saying that he won`t need the gauntlet to cause major damage. The series is getting better and better.

What I want to know is why come to  Earth for the Cosmic Cube and not just make his own. If Earth scientists could so easily make it then so could he.
