Marvel Teaser: "Of the Dead"

Kirkman actually took influence from another book called the walking dead that came out in 89' from Malibu graphics by john Somerville - the Rick grimes character alone in the original book is proof. The font used on the current walking dead book is a swipe from the font used on romero's night of the living dead poster image. So as far as i see it kirkman is not doing anything unique other than having bigger funding.

George working on any marvel comic should be a treat for fans near and far and respect should be given

Maybe they're going to resurrect a bunch of characters. Or they're going to kill off a bunch more characters, either one.

@John Valentine: 2 years. And the keywords of the conversation were "before the mainstream acceptance of The Walking Dead." As in Marvel Zombies existed long before their would have been any reason to assume "oh, zombie comics are cool and successful now."

And I'll stress for people again. Robert Kirkman created Marvel Zombies, hence, it can't be a rip-off of TWD. Also, Robert Kirkman did not create zombies, so again, it can't be ripped-off.

Marvel Zombies reference? Maybe?

I don't know where you're getting Daredevil out of the solicit but either way the comment intrigues me because I never thought of the possibility before; Kirkman is a terrific writer and Daredevil is one of my all-time favorite characters yet I can honestly say I wouldn't think it'd be a good match for Kirkman.

I definitely think it's THANOS related.......remember, they need to amp-up his visibility for the Phase 2 run of movies leading into Avengers 2. And THANOS loves and worships Death......soooo, there you go.

Marvel sees itself as a leader.....ripping off the Walking Dead and doing something Zombie related in the Marvel Universe would come across as waaaay too cheesy of a copy-cat thing.

Pretty much every mention of The Walking Dead in these comments is stupid.

1.) What, so nobody is allowed to write about zombies outside of The Walking Dead anymore?

2.) You guys don't realize that Marvel has been doing Zombie stuff for years now? Marvel Zombies was created 7 years ago. Not to mention Simon Garth, Zombie, who was created in 1953, whom this book is most likely about if this isn't a Marvel Zombies title?

Probably has to do with the Marvel Zombies franchise, but the off chance this could be a zombie project set in the 616 is very appealing to me. As long as it didn't lead to meaningless character deaths.

I believe it is true, a bunch of other websites have been reporting this and talking about George A. Romero's coments a little while back, then again I seen crazier swerves.

On a seperate note, I know people are on the "coatails of Walking Dead," thing, but if anybody can keep pace with it or possibly even better (not saying it will be), then its the godfather of the zombie genre in Romero.

All for more Zombies - especially if they tie Thanos into the mix!

Groan if you must - but there is a ton of possibilities so long as they steer clear of the Cheese that we came from the later Marvel Zombies series. Marvel Zombies was huge during its initial run and I think they simply didn't dig deep enough into the real potential of the book.

Hopefully, (and I'm positive it won't be) simply a Resurrection - but a really well developed Re-Imagining that we are seeing with most of the Marvel NOW titles.
