Marvel Reveals First Cover & Details for AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS

Find out more about this upcoming event

This October, the Marvel Universe prepares for the biggest battle it’s ever faced –Marvel is proud to present the first details for Avengers & X-Men: AXIS! AXIS, the nine part blockbuster comic event of the fall, brought to you by the chart topping creative team of Rick Remender, Adam Kubert, Leinil Yu, Terry Dodson and Jim Cheung, will take fans across the globe as the Avengers and the X-Men must band together to stop the destruction caused by one of the greatest villains in the Marvel Universe!

AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS #1 Cover

From the ashes of the once proud mutant haven Genosha, an evil power rises. Exploiting the limitless gifts of the world’s greatest telepath Charles Xavier, the Red Skull has enslaved thousands, amassed an army and now broadcasts his message of hate across the world. Channeling the unstoppable force known as Onslaught, the Red Skull’s ruthless and unparalleled evil now wields a destructive power unmatched by even the most powerful heroes.

The fractured teams of Avengers and X-Men are now all that stands in the way of total obliteration. Earth’s last hope now hinges on the fragile alliance of these two estranged teams. In the shadows of the Red Supremacy, can they fight as one? Even united, they may not be enough to stem the coming darkness. And if they fall, all hope is lost.

The battle begins this October in Act I of Avengers & X-Men: AXIS but fans anxiously awaiting the explosive first issue can get their first teases in March to AXIS, special lead in stories setting the stage for the epic event! The March to AXIS begins this September in Uncanny Avengers #24, Captain America #24, Magneto #9 and Loki: Agent of Asgard #6!

So is this even going to affect any of the actual X-Men books?

Can someone explain what Onslaught is? I think I must have missed that

Edited by frozenedge

Wait it's not Avengers vs X-Men vs Axis? No more heroes fighting each other? And I was so enjoying them all acting stupid with each other

Psionic entity. Dark darkness from dark deeps of minds of Xavier and Magneto.

Pumped! :D

Alos, can anyone tell me who the blacked out character in the first picture is? I'm really confused :/

Cool.

I'm interested

I expected more from Remender.

Posted by RuBoy96

Whatever, meh. Why is Iron Man in there? Is he the new wolverine?

Posted by frozenedge

@ruboy96: why wouldn't Iron Man be there? He's part of the Avengers

Posted by Jyger85

Thank GOD, a Marvel event comic where the heroes DON'T all fight each other. Also, holy crap, Red Skull may have become like the biggest villain in Marvel right now. With Thanos licking his wounds and Galactus trapped, name one other villain that could touch Red Skull right now.

Edited by space4rentt

@manneffest: They're probably a fallout of Original Sin or some other storyline going on right now.

Posted by MixMastaMicah5

This. Sounds. Awesome. Also Remender confirmed big things for Spider-Man and the Inhumans. Even some Vision stuff! (from a CBR article)

Curious as to how they're going to use Wade.

This looks so bad.

wait Wade is actually gonna be involved in one of these comic book events?

This looks good

I be looking more forward to this if they didn't keep bringing Onslaught back every 5 years!

If this was the first appearance since 1996, I'd be stoked... but sadly its not :(

Oh, and how many times does the Red Skull have to die before its permanent!?

REDSLAUGHT looks cool! (Credits goes to me for the clever name. Hehe)

Edited by dagmar_merrill

I'll pass for now.

Posted by NukeA6

This better be a good Onslaught story because the first two were bad.

I like Remender's work, but I think I'm going to bench this one. Still evented-out.

recycling time :)

I know magneto is involved, but anyone wondering why theres been no mention of cap being involved with the red skull, I feel like it has some thing to do with him being replaced, for those who don't know as a part of original sin cap remembered what strange did to him and confronts tony this is lead to time travel stuff and now marvel has announced they are goin to give us the issues of new avengers and avengers from eight months in the future(real life not comic time) instead of the regular issues happening now, it has been shown that there is a new goggle wearing cap but neither him nor steve seem to be involved with axis....

I like the covers for these events. Pretty artistic

Posted by HushoftheWind

may i be one of the few (or maybe many) to say the Red Skull looks ridiculous. I feel like Red Skull is being misused somehow.

Posted by Night4345

Onslaught really? Really on the fence about this. One thing I'll say is I'm glad they won't have heroes punch each other.

Posted by Onemoreposter

Why is the Red Skull Onslaught?

Posted by clayscarface

@mrvalance: Might want to block some of that with a spoiler alert or something. Just in case people wanted to read it themselves.

Posted by slade_wilson

Onslaught Red Skrull? Awesome sauce.

Posted by Jyger85

Also, I can't help but notice my all-time favourite member of the X-Men, Rogue, and the Scarlet Witch are both back and on the same page. So is this maybe gonna be a story where not only does nobody die but we get people come back to life? 'Cuz I would LOVE that. :)

Posted by Koays

Oh look, A x-men crossover cover with the avengers where only one X-man is present......but we know it's important to the X-men because the first sentence has 'Genosha' in it.....

Edited by Mangakid1995

@koays: really because in the first cover I see Storm, Beast, Colossus, Rogue, and in the background Havok. And on the second cover I see Storm and Deadpool who although he's never been an "X-man" he was part of Wolverine's Uncanny X-Force, which should count for something.

Posted by Mangakid1995

(Referring to the first picture) Why is the Vision colored like Anti-Vision? Last I checked thanks to Avengers A.I. Vision doesn't have the big collar anymore.

Posted by Koays

@mangakid1995: meh, meant the promo ...but no Deadpool doesn't count

Edited by Teerack

Who is next to Iron Man?

It could just be his taste. The current Vision can shape shift. For example he turned into a rocket to fly half way around the world in a few seconds. I'm king of hoping it's the return of Vision 2.0 to be honest though. ( 'Young' Vision from the Young Avengers)

This one is a clone.

I just can't wait to see Magneto go after him. Skull's already a Nazi, he hates mutants, and he has the brain and abilities of Magneto's BFF. Should be a pretty electric showdown.

I can't take this seriously...every time I see that image of the red skull I see this in my head...

Posted by saoakden

I'm looking forward to this story.

Posted by VanderSEXXX

Hoping Remender will handle this properly. Though yeah the thought of Onslaught being back puts me on the fence as I found the 1996 event that involved him quite horrible and I hope it doesn't resemble the same scenario whatsoever of that horrible event just to kill off alot of heroes to make a reboot.

Posted by Park

Maybe the heroes will be smart and just start by dropping the Hulk on him this time...

Posted by RuBoy96

@frozenedge: He is just everywhere nowadays. Why is Captain America not there? Red Skull is his archenemy.
