No they actually mentioned it in the end of Thanos Imperative, that Worldmind was still fully functional it just need time to reboot itself basically now that it was cut off from the majority of the Nova Force. I'll look it up to confirm this or not, but as of right now I do believe Worldmind can and does exist outside of Rider. I think he even did that before jumping to the Cancerverse as not to lose the entirety of the Nove Force and the Corps.

Okay after many minutes of research I found the panel I was looking for. Since my scanner isn't working I will just do a direct quote from Thanos Imperative #6 page 30 second panel.

Quasar: "Worldmind's gone into some kind of reboot shutdown. Rich drained all the Nova Force out of me and the cadets, and it never came back. Not after the Fault shut, I mean."

So with that being said I am would assume that some of the Nova Force made it back, perhaps just enough to maintain Worldmind until enough of it could replenish (for lack of a better word, since it is a natural force of the cosmos one could theorize that more is made when tapped).

So I am not up to date on this new "Nova" but I am going to assume they never mentioned were he got his powers? The only solace I can take from the fact this isn't Rich is that they didn't give him the awesome Nova Prime Annihilation armor and stuck him in that shitty toga get up Rich had for the majority of his existence.

I just read his entry on wikipedia.... all I can say is.. Utter shit!

Also with Cables Techniovirus gone he should be fully powered in Psy power now as he had to use a considerable amount of his Psy to keep it in check.

I personally think the Nova that appeared in the Marvel Now! tease is Garthan Saal. He appeared in Nova #25 . He was wearing the same black-ish costume when he was talking with Malik Tarcel.

Wow! I didn't realize that. When the new Nova (Sam) issues come out next year, I have a feeling we will see the return of Richard Rider and Garthan Saal.

They said Sam was from another universe. Knowing the back history of Sam's creation, I won't be surprised if he is from the Cancerverse. That would be brilliantly out of symbolism and if I'm right, Sam is an awesome character. I hope he becomes a sidekick to Rich.

Also, if he is from the Cancerverse, we can get an explanation of "WHERE IS RICHARD RIDER?!?!" I'd love to see Saal make a return as an antagonist. After his recent appearance, he went magicaly off the map. They planted a seed and it never grew. Hopefully the new Nova issues next year will be that tree! Can't wait!!
