Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury will, in fact, be cameoing the THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA movies. He said so, plainly, on a recent episode of LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON, saying the shoots for each movie will be a day a piece. I’m sure his appearances will just consist of him showing up when all the smoke clears and saying something cool about how S.H.I.E.L.D.’s interested in involving these respective heroes in their Avengers initiative - - gluing these movies together, as it were. Knowing this, I get the sense that Dum Dum Dugan will effectively be taking over Fury’s role as the Howlin’ Commandos’ leader in World War II, while Fury himself will probably only show up to look over a long-frozen Cap. Though, his talks of working with Howard Stark in IRON MAN 2 suggest he might still have some infinity formula running through his veins and keeping him young.
The next secret Jackson revealed is that he’ll be screen-testing with a handful of actress this week for part he describes simply as “Nick Fury’s sidekick.” THR has found out that the lovely ladies vying for the part are Cobie Smulders, Jessica Lucas, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Whedon-verse alumna, Morena Baccarin. Have a look at them below, from left to right... == TEASER ==
I kind-of figured that Black Widow or Agent Phil Coulson had served in that sidekick role already, but this opens up some possibilities. Could it be Maria Hill? Or a re-tooled Janet Van Dyne getting groomed for active superheroic duty in a way similar to her Ultimate counterpart? I might’ve suggested Sharon Carter, but that couldn’t really be reconciled with this casting call, as I’m still pretty convinced that Hayley Atwell will be playing the character eventually (following the comics tradition of Sharon being the spitting image of her aunt Peggy.) Whoever lands the role will also get a nine-picture option.
Speaking of her, there’s a good look at her in action in these pics from the CAP movie that’ve popped up on Coming Soon. Have a gander, maybe?
