Marvel Heroes Coming to Disneyland?

Seems like it's just a question of when.

I've rode on many rollercoasters all over America, and this is one of the best.

One question still persists after Disney’s acquisition of Marvel:  will superheroes from the House of Ideas ever start roaming around Disneyland? We do already know that the park’s stores have already been stocking Marvel merchandise, but the possibility of “cast members” in spandex still hasn’t been addressed.   The LA Times’ Geoff Boucher recently caught up with Disney’s CEO Bob Iger at a “Blue Carpet premiere” at the California Adventure and raised that very question.

So answered Mr. Iger…

"We're just now considering all of our different options, so it would be premature to say when or where in the parks you would see Marvel characters -- but I think it's safe to say that you're going to see some of those great Marvel characters walking around in the future."

Having been to Disneyland recently, I can say that the cast of costumed characters is running a lot more diverse than the simple roster of “Mickey and his pals” that lil' Tommy P shook hands with. When you’ve got Jack Skellington, Stitch and the Incredibles trotting around, it really wouldn't too out of place to see Spidey, Iron Man and the Hulk joining them. == TEASER ==

You really do feel like you're stepping into Marvel's Big Apple.

However, Boucher speculates that some Marvel-themed rides would give Disneyland’s Anaheim sister, the California Adventure, an identity it needs. And that, of course, brings up the issue of what’s going to happen to Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Having gone to that park a few times, I’ve got to say that it’s always an amazing experience. The costumes are a little out-of-date - - most of them haven't been changed since 2000 - - but it still feels like you’re stepping into Marvel Universe with whole host of characters to greet you. Spider-man the Ride, the Incredible Hulk coaster, Dr. Doom’s Free Fall, Storm’s teapot-style cyclone kiddy ride, an entire arcade filled with portraits of villains ( Baron Zemo, Attuma, the Kingpin, the Red Skull and so on) and there's even a 360 degree mural depicting all the major eras and crossovers like SECRET WARS, THE INFINITY GAUNTLET and ONSLAUGHT.

Needless to say, that's a big portion of Marvel’s catalog and it'd make any superficial renovation to take out the characters next to impossible. Last I checked, they hadn't reached a decision on this but I still hope they can reach some kind of agreement that'll allow this island to stay - - I’d hate to see it go away.

I think that seeing Marvel character roaming around along with the Disney Princess would be somewhat weird (I mean Spidey could confuse his Red Head MJ with Disney's Red Head Ariel), but as someone who goes to Disneyland on a regular basis I don't think we will be seeing rides of our favorite heroes yet.
Over at Disney California Adventure the World of Color show just opened and a whole new "land" (you know like Fantasyland, Tommorowland, Adventureland etc) is about to open in 2011 called Carsland (yes from Pixar).
I always considered Disneyland where the classics would be and Disney California Adventure seems to be the home of Pixar characters... If Marvel characters were to move to DCA then where would Nemo and the Incredibles go?
Although a showdown between The Incredibles and the Fantastic Four would be fun to see

From what I understand that the Marvel portion of Island of Adventures is here to stay (so far). When Disney acquired Marvel, Disney CEO Robert Iger said that they would honor any contracts that Marvel currently has with Disney competitors.
I don't care either way, I going to both places next March!!!!!!

My question is would we see those characters from Universal at Disney, I thought Universal had rights to use them? So does that mean Disney won't be able too? Even so, it would be a great opportunity for Marvel to get some of their lesser known characters out to the general public, like Ms. Marvel, Giant Man/Ant-Man, Wasp, Moon Knight, ect.
Oh and someone should probably call that fella who made that " Real Life War Machine" armor that Tom posted about a while back, he could probably make a good buck by making Marvel an Iron Man armor for them ;)

I think they will need to wait until the Universal Studios contract expires. There's already Marvel stores, restaurants, acts, and costumed characters running around Universal Studios.  I don't know how long until the Universal contract expires, but I think we'll start seeing those types of Marvel themed events, shops, and  restaurants appearing in Disney parks after that contract expires.

considering that compared to Disneyworld, Universal Studios is a waist of time. i would love to see the characters start showing up at disney. that being said i don't think that Universal studios is going to let any contract lapse especially to a rival like disney. they will keep it going as long as possible.

l love Islands of Adventures. And I agree that the Hulk is the funnest roller coaster I've ever ridden. And I've rode some crazy ones.

I cannot wait till they fully bring Marvel stuff into Disney.  Right now the Disney stores only have Iron Man stuff, no comic merchandises like toys or t-shirts.
I hope they create a Marvel Land in the Disney Parks.

 @Tom Pinchuk
You forgot to include the Marvel Restaurant they have! That place has the best fries in the park! And it would be a shame to see Disney take over Universal's Marvel island. if i were to see Disney take over Universal's marvel portion, I would kill myself!!

They already sell Silver Age X-Men tee shirts there, It won't be much time for sure.
I'd know because I live down the street from Disneyland pretty much.

Disneyland is like 30 minutes away from me....and I haven't been there in 3 would be pretty cool if they added a Marvel section and even a lounge where you could read comic books. It would totally be worth the highly expensive pass.
