As for you - still wearing the same hat I see. It's funny, during all of my impassioned discussion that the only thing you took away from it was your poor characterization. That's all right though - I'm comfortable with the results here even with a third party stepping in to adjudicate in telling me I'm wrong.

You're a delight, sir. I can only hope for the most positive of experiences with you from here on in the future. Hopefully you find this site as amiable as the rest of your day to day life has been.

Quite a few third parties, actually. Its just you only noticed the one that slapped you on the wrist and told you to stop throwing things.

In any case I would have liked to have had a genuine discussion about Marvel's new books here. Maybe in the future we can focus on the comics and leave the personal attacks at the door.

Another big week for me.

I'm getting

Infinity - Finally it's over. Not a fan of this event.

Nova - I like where this series is going. Also interested how the New Warriors will fit in.

FF - One of the best series by Marvel atm. Still sad, that it must end.

Hawkguy - Another Katie-story, yeah!

Uncanny Avengers - It has my favorite Avengers in it. Scarlet Witch, Thor, Rogue, Wonder Man just a good line-up

Avengers Arena - Been following right from the start. My favorites are still in the race...

All-New X-Men - I hope this continues to be the charming book it was before Kitty and the young X-Men changed sides

Avengers Assemble - just a fun book to read

Uncanny X-Force

Superior Spider-Man

Wolverine and the X-Men

New Avengers

@grey56: Regarding: it's a sad commentary on the state of Marvel comics.

I couldn't agree more. My disgust with Marvels current editorial board knows no bounds.

@danhimself: Regarding your post that Marvel has never rebooted.

How do you explain the erasure of 25 years of Spiderman history with the nightmare known as One More Day? How about the rebooting of Spidermans marriage to Mary Jane with One Moment in Time? Dont tell me that a retcon isn't the same as a reboot. Spidermans whole existence has been destroyed by Marvels convoluted story telling and "rebooting". Superior Spiderman is the ultimate humiliation.

I will tell you that a retcon isn't the same as a reboot because they aren't

a reboot is the erasure as you put it of the entire history of a character or universe...much like what DC did with the New 52

a retcon is altering the small or sometimes large details around a certain event...much like what Marvel did with One More Day...Peter and Mary Jane's marriage was erased but other than Harry Osborn staying alive nothing else was altered...Peter and Mary Jane were still together throughout all of those years...they just weren't married...you could say that they were in a Domestic Partnership...all of the stories that happened from the marriage forward still occurred just as they did prior to OMD with the exception that Peter and MJ were not married

I hope that cleared things up for you as you seemed to be confused

@silverageguy: I certainly appreciate your taking the time to say so. I'm hoping that with enough people voting with their wallets that they will get the picture. It does involve a little convincing others that we should demand better for our dollar; both in creative teams assigned, the length of the contract to how the stories are planned/told for more than just the span between company wide events.

@danhimself : Dan, I am not one to make light of how words are used because it is important. To that effect, you're correct in saying that 'reboot', 'retcon' and 'revolume' are not the same in the context of the comic community. They're important delineations when trying to be specific.

However, similar to my original opine in this piece I think @silverageguy is using the term laterally to imply vast changes which otherwise would constitute a reboot. I think we can all agree that what Marvel did to Peter David's run on The Incredible Hulk when they 'retconned' his entire story that it might as well been a 'reboot'. So no, in the strictest sense Marvel has never done that. However I'd hate to think that we couldn't agree that they have all but done it in name.

All I'm trying to do is make sure we're seeing the forest for the trees in this instance.

@grey56: no we can't agree....a retcon is a retcon and a reboot is a reboot...you can't just interchange the words at your own fancy

@danhimself: That's exactly why I stated what I did at the start, sir. The larger premise still abides; the end results still constitute what would be the same thing in our vernacular.
