Marvel Announces Nick Lowe as New Senior Editor for all Spider-Man Titles

He's leaving the X-Men for Spidey.

Stephen Wacker has been in charge of the Spider-Man family titles for some time. With his move to animation, the question was who would replace him.

Today Marvel has announced that Nick Lowe will be the new Senior Editor of all Spider-Man related comics.

“I’ve loved Spider-Man since I stole my brother’s Spidey comics back in the 90’s!” exclaims Senior Editor Nick Lowe. “It’s a huge honor to be working on Marvel’s most popular character. After ten years (!) I’m going to miss the X-Men, but I’m excited to join the incredible group of men and women working on books in the Spider-Man Office.”

"[Writer] Dan Slott is weaving an intricate web for Spider-Man in 2014, and I'm excited to see what Senior Editor Nick Lowe -- a veteran of the X-Men titles -- contributes to the line," says EIC Axel Alonso.

How do you become a successful editor? "Edit" the two most popular lines at a company and call it a day. Got an X-Men story to tell? Approved! Got a craptacular Spider-Man story to tell? Approved! Come one come all! Enough books for everyone! Man that editor is a genius! A monkey surely couldn't do his job!

@zombietag: He is moving to Marvel's animation department.

I think Martz is all about spreading the wealth. Hopefully this means reducing the focus on Wolverine and Cyclops and hopefully ending this stupid schism. Get us down to only 4-5 books done right and I'll be happy

I think Martz edited Morrison's and Whedon's runs.

Good for Lowe. Not sure how long he's been on X-Men but I've been enjoying X-Men consistently since Fraction was writing. Wacker will always be my favorite though.

Is this a good thing or bad thing? I'm sure we will hear Tony's opinion in this week's TISM podcast.

The era of the Whacker is over?

Gonna miss Whacker. This is cool thigh. Hope that means Martz is back in the X office

I'm really going to miss Wacker, especially his fan interactions. Nick Lowe hasn't exactly been stellar on the X-Books, so, while I think Mike Marts will be great for the X-Books, I'm a little worried about Spider-Man.
