The official Facebook page for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN just confirmed that director Marc Webb will return for the sequel. To no one's surprise, the film was a financial success and raked in just over $750 million globally. Fans had mixed reactions, but I had a blast with it and G-Man also gave it a rave review. Doug Belgrad, the President of Columbia Pictures, released a statement about the franchise's future:
Are you happy Webb is pulling the strings behind Peter's life again or would you have wanted Columbia Pictures to pick someone else? And if so, who? Finally, feel free to endlessly speculate about the mid-credits scene and what you want to see in the follow-up!“We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker,”
The untitled sequel has a release date of May 2, 2014.
