When you are a superman at that strength, it doesn't matter what you wear, it would be like tin foil on you. Greater movement doesn't really mean anything for a comic book character who can topple mountains, but I believe at some point they will get stripped down and just have a full on slug fest, just my opinion...plus there have been screen shots of zod's heat vision burning eyes.....

. In the new 52 superman wears indestructible armor now as well.

If lex is in the movie, I don't think he will do anything remotely important, just like there is no kryptonite. I believe this movie is about Clark coming to terms with who he is, and when he accepts this having to deal with someone just as powerful as he is. No super genius' with kryptonite weapons, just one man who is his physical equal wanting him dead.


@killemall What do you mean by dark?

When you listen to superman talk he is a humble fellow, his voice is almost soothing, that is how I picture superman to be. I like the justice league one from the cartoon, but there is something about him that just seems right when he talks. I didn't get a dark tone from this movie at all, there will always be villains and always be fighting, they just added depth to it.

People said they thought TAS was dark too but I didn't understand what they meant.

Not really. Look at Transformers, Christ Nolan's Batman Films, etc. Dark theme and a lot of fighting, yes, but they have surpassed 1 billionth dollars, meaning plentiful of people have watched them. I wouldn't be surprise if the major group of people are actually middle-age.

Man, I've watched this trailer like 4 or 5 times already. Can't get enough of it!! :)

I don't see this as being a flop. It looks really well done, the costumes look good, the CGI looks good, lots of action, etc. And if the soundtrack is as good as this trailer was, I don't see that failing either. I'm just glad it's not gonna be about Lex Luthor (The villain is Zod) Because that "Lex Luthor looking to destroy Superman with some kind of scheme involving kryptonite" shtick got extremely outdated.

I watched about twenty seconds of the trailer then I closed the window. I refused to spoil more of the film for myself!

I am kind of scared it looks a little too dark, hopefully that wont limit the potential number of people who would go.

I have full faith that the story is going to be pretty awesome, its just the darker the movie gets you are limiting the number of people, as parents dont normally take their kids to see an overtly dark and dreary movie.

Little quick to the trigger aren't we. Wasn't Sisyphus or Antigone's father so certain of their station before being shot down by some messed up circumstances?

Undoubtedly, the "Man of Steel" will be the best superhero movie this year.

@assman: No but everyone know's who Superman is, even people that dont follow comic books. Just pick a storyline and do that instead of again seeing how it all began, So yea another reboot...

I really hope Zack Snyder doesn't screw this one up. But so far I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Like someone already said, that was retconned in Superman: Birthright.

The suit when it was the space sequence reminded me of the Injustice suit.... looks dopey dopedope... AND PUNCH MIDFLIGHT BATTLE!!! GAAHHHHH... my only complaint, is it needs more lasers.

So had two thoughts after watching the trailer again and wanted to see what others thought.

1) What if the other Kryptonians don't have superpowers. Aside from the final "flying punch" scene where it doesn't look like Supes' opponent looks to only being wearing the standard black undersuit we only see images of Zod and Faora wearing armor. If you slow down the trailer around 2:15 you notice that the person in the camera of some missile is Faora and that her hand is glowing. At 2:19 you see what could be either Zod or Lex (though after watching a few times my money is on Zod) shrugging off the falling debris due to a force field around his suit. Then at 2:28 Zod and Superman clash in the air and Zod is still wearing full armor....which could just be cosmetic and familiar but why wear full armor if you have the same abilities as Kal-El? Why not strip the armor for greater movement and agility? Than of course there is the fact that Zod's forces are using a lot of mechanical firepower to invade than you would think necessary for a group of Kryptonians. They are each as powerful as whole armies so what need would they have for a giant laser weapon or the Black Zero (Zod's ship according to the recent EW article....not Brainiac) needing to morph into a combat mode? Those all seem fairly redundant. Those combined raise two interesting questions. a) is Kal-El the only one to have superpowers because of his natural vice artificial birth (perhaps suggesting that Kryptonians intentionally limited or inhibited their DNA during the artifical process in fear of what powers their race could possess) or b) do Kryptonians not gain superpowers immediately upon entering a yellow sun system and it will only be towards the end of the film that at least Zod and Faora start exhibiting similar levels of power to Kal-El.

2) We have seen exactly one picture of Cavill dressed in anything resembling a Clark Kent working at the Daily Planet. In the trailer we see him in a t-shirt but no glasses at one point standing infront of a group of scared people. Could it be that Clark does not go to work at the Daily Planet until the end of the movie? The dialog Lois has at the beginning of the trailer sounds a lot like the opening to a story, possibly the exclusive on Superman following all these events. As this is an origin story dealing with Clark finding his place in the world, it would make sense that he decides upon working at the Daily Planet after meeting Lois, Perry, and Jenny (?) and standing with Earth rather than join forces with Zod. Though this would limit how much we see of Cavill in glasses and given the classic "meek Clark" act, it also would keep the film from slowing down and taking focus away from the "first contact" feel Earth meeting Superman and then immediately facing the invasion by Zod.....simply using his hiring at the Daily Planet to give the viewer a sneak peek of what's to come in future films and how Clark's chosen to live after these events.

Thought I saw Lex in his battlesuit at 2:19.

They retconned it with Birthright.

It seriously looks amazing! There's a lot of great movies coming out this year but Man of Steel takes the biscuit (for me at least).

This new Superman franchise is a way different Superman than we are use to or familiar with from the comic. I hope people realize that now instead of going in blind and raising h*ll after they watch the movie. It seems like a completely different take on the Man of Steel and his origin. I don't have a problem with it, just like I don't have a problem with Christopher Nolan's take on Batman. Man of Steel seriously looks like a great film. I can't wait!

I was hoping the DC movie franchise would keep the same tone and quality as Christopher Nolan's Batman films though I know people prefer the "comic booky" movie. But Man of Steel looks like it offers the best of both so I'm excited!
