There's also a new logo!

Today, principal photography for the next DC movie begins in Detroit. There's been plenty of discussions over what the movie will be called, but now we have an official title: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A new logo has been posted, too.

Obviously Batman had prep before the movie was finished and found a way to get his name top-billing over Supes in his own sequel.

Batman gets top billing because he is the one that is probably going after Superman. I always felt Man of Steel was really a DC Presents sort of film. I never felt like it was a going to be a Superman only franchise, I felt it was more of a DCU franchises.

People have to understand from a marketing stand point the title will attract people to see it. It doesnt matter much to myself, but the casual, non comics book fan its a title that will be remembered.

We can't all have snappy titles like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, can we?

You shouldn't have gone there.

But yeah, Batman v. Superman sounds like Bruce is taking Clark to court. If you thought that fight couldn't get any less fair, it just did.

Batman v Superman. In which Batman sues Superman for the cost of all damages he caused to Metropolis. The film ends with them all learning the true meaning of christmas and Superman grows a beard and becomes SuperSanta to all the little boys and girls and Batman learns to be less Scrooge-like.

You might not like the title, but it's smart. Putting Batman as the lead in the title will attract non comic book fans, which is what the majority of the movie goers will be who see this film.

BVS Dawn of Justice is just too long. A plain "BvS" or "Batman Superman" or "World's Finest" or "Man of Steel: *insert cool title*" would all be good. But it is better than "The Superfriends"

People will be complaining about not using "Worlds Finest" as the title but look at it from a marketing tool. It's to the films financial benefit that they have the two biggest superhero draws in the title. "Worlds Finest" means nothing without the logo to most movie goers. "Batman V Superman", that tells people what they are getting and Dawn of Justice gets people excited for potential JL movie. (confirmed) Maybe a wonky title but no more wonky than many comic titles. Lookin at you Ultimate Universe the Ultimate Ultimates lol.

I understand why they didn't go with World's Finest. The phrase "World's Finest", means nothing to the mainstream non comic reader audience. I suppose they chose Dawn of Justice to allude to the fact that this movie builds to the Justice League although it is a little bit on the nose for my taste. I dig the new logo though. I especially like the scratches under the Bat logo.

Hah, Batman gets top billing in a Superman sequel.

Also, this title is terrible. Seriously. World's Finest. It's not that hard, guys.

Cool logo, don't like the name.

World's Finest would have been perfect from the studio that gave us titles like The Dark Knight and Man of Steel.

So World's Finest or World's Finest: dawn of justice was too complicated huh....They're really stressing this fight even though for 70 years prior Superman and batman were known as the world's finest. Damn this post Injustice era when Supes vs Bats is such a hot topic (personally i'm getting sick of it). I do like the logo though, actually no, the 'S' looks really dark. Don't dare batmanize Superman!!! Oh God...

Dawn of Justice alone would have been great. I can do without the Batman v Superman part. I dont know why but it bothers me. Maybe because this is supposed to be a MOS sequel and Batman's name is first, and it implies the main confrontation of the movie is their battle when we know they're going to work together.

Still, emblem looks cool.
