Man of Steel Sequel Titled 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

There's also a new logo!

Today, principal photography for the next DC movie begins in Detroit. There's been plenty of discussions over what the movie will be called, but now we have an official title: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A new logo has been posted, too.

No Caption Provided

Dawn of Justice, eh? Seems pretty clear they're trying to build the hype for the Justice League movie. What do you think of the title? Does the title even matter to you? Speak your mind below. And in case you somehow missed it, here's the first good look at the Batmobile and Ben Affleck as Batman.

He needs to look awesome.

@granitesoldier: You do realise that its alphabetical and how it is supposed to be, superman vs (yea i refuse to spell it with just the V) batman sounds a little off to me. batman vs superman just sounds better and to me it does not mean ITs not a man of steel sequel , the only way it could be alphabetical with supes in front would be Man of steel vs The Dark knight (as the m comes before t)

True, but don't under-estimate older guys who have looked after themselves. Lou Ferringo is 63 and he looks like a guy who could punch someone through a wall!

@bezza: Well it's a comic and it's fiction, I would think it's more believable that Ben could grab some one through a wall than a 60 year old Batman.

@punyparker: Still I think the story for BvS will be great, Affleck brought the guy from Argo Chris Terrio to do the script. I can't remember who does exactly what, the writer creates the script, and the director brings the script to life on the big screen. I think that's how it works I could be wrong...

Only that gives me hope........Goyer is a douche.

Agreed, he actually looks like a man who can kick Superman's ass.

No Caption Provided

He really does look like he could kick his a**, Ben Affleck looks bigger than MOS, but I heard Superman is also suppose to look bigger as well. The fight will be epic, I have no doubt about that.

No Caption Provided

Not sure about Bat-God, but we need a Batman who physically looks like he could cut It, like Batman did in TDKR. I mean he was a big guy in that film, able to punch through a wall to grab an opponent and so far, no Batman in any film has looked physically imposing enough to do the role justice.

But still he was human. They're establishing a universe with Goddesses and super-powerful aliens.........they need to prove that Batman is a CRUCIAL part if this team, and deserves to be there.

And remember Owl-man in Snyder's Watchmen?......he could demolish anyone he wanted....i want that from Batman....i didn't see that strongly in Nolan's,becasue of the grounded approach and everything.

I want Bat-God on film.

In terms of marketing it actually does make sense, first of all the entire internet has been calling it Batman vs Superman for months, second it's gonna attract the general audience moreso than Worlds Finest.

@mrtummytumms: Titles oftentimes provide insight to the quality with the movies. While normally a title isn't much to go on, combined with straight-out odd casting, superfluous characters, and questionable narrative choices in the last movie, a title can be confirmation of our fears.

Nah, lame name anyway there is no excuse, the worst part is they left the "V" why? Make it VS or remove it comletely. Anyway this movie is one bad decision after the other :-P
I expect it to be nice visually but I am sure the script and plot will make me try take my eyes out.

I've already lost hope in Warner Bros, Snyder and Goyer doing justice to a DC Cinematic Universe. This only confirms my suspicions. It's absurd to bill this solely as a superhero on superhero action film just to stimulate the non comic book crowd with promises of pointless fighting that won't be the centre of the film's attention anyway. What's more, that Dawn for Justice side title is just about the most generic and bland statement one can make on the film. It simply screams that they're rushing this film out to try and compete with Marvel. Rather than taking as much care with it as possible to ensure a quality and respectful adaptation of the franchise. But quality and respectful don't come to mind with Goyer and Snyder on this train wreck of a film series.

As much as us nerds would have loved to see it titled "World's Finest", that wouldn't have been a good decision. Nobody knows what "World's Finest" means, the title of "Batman vs Superman" alone is going to bring in a ton of viewers.

Yes because The Dark Knigth/Rises and Man of Steel were commercial flops.

I guess a Justice League movie needs to be called: "Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg & Green Lantern Team-Up Movie AKA Just Like Marvel's The Avengers"

The Dark Knight/Rises and Man of Steel were not flops.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

Actually I read an article by my favorite comic book movie optimist, and I feel a bit better about it. I think it's still dumb the way they're throwing the brand recognition in there so obviously, but there is possibly a lot of meaning behind the way they worded it. This was pretty meaningful to me because I felt that this movie should be, if not a true Man of Steel sequel, at least Superman-centric, as he should be the hero that the others rally around in the name of justice. And the title miffed me just a little bit because of that.

That has got to be one of the most therapeutically satisfying articles I've read on the subject. I'm still irked, but I do feel better about it. And it's about damn time we get to see what Batman can do as an antagonist.

I love Mark Hughes' articles, if you read his interview with Zack Snyder having Batman in MOS2 was never the studio's idea, it was his.

It will be Batman and Superman centric not just Superman centric.

You might not like the title, but it's smart. Putting Batman as the lead in the title will attract non comic book fans, which is what the majority of the movie goers will be who see this film.

My thoughts exactly.

(IMO) I think that it'll be the obvious beginning where some threat like the Royal Flush Gang (maybe that's why Fong tweeted the card) will show up in either Metropolis or Gotham and Superman will hear it and rush over there just to find some guy in a bat suit has already apprehended the villains. I'm sure Batman will give Supes some tude and that won't go well leading to the title of "versus". It won't help Batman's cause that he either isn't known yet in this universe or is just a myth at this point. Superman will already be established and accepted by the police force and military. Batman may be seen as a villain until Lex Luthor releases some global threat and Batman & Superman realize they need to team up to stop the threat. Supes will vouch for Batman giving him credibility with society. Wonder Woman will probably just make small cameos and show up towards the end with her gear, thus initiating the Dawn of Justice (League).

I don't mind the title (a little long though) and as long as the story's good and clever then I'm going to be satisfied.
