Man of Steel Sequel Titled 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

There's also a new logo!

Today, principal photography for the next DC movie begins in Detroit. There's been plenty of discussions over what the movie will be called, but now we have an official title: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A new logo has been posted, too.

Dawn of Justice, eh? Seems pretty clear they're trying to build the hype for the Justice League movie. What do you think of the title? Does the title even matter to you? Speak your mind below. And in case you somehow missed it, here's the first good look at the Batmobile and Ben Affleck as Batman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens May 6, 2016.

So no World's Finest huh ? It does sound cool I can't take that away.

Posted by SmashBrawler

Dammit, k4tz! Anyway, like I said before, "Batman v Superman" is a dumb way of spelling it and I'm not using it.

Posted by PunyParker

This will just be a trailer for the Justice League.

Edited by GraniteSoldier

Dawn of Justice alone would have been great. I can do without the Batman v Superman part. I dont know why but it bothers me. Maybe because this is supposed to be a MOS sequel and Batman's name is first, and it implies the main confrontation of the movie is their battle when we know they're going to work together.

Still, emblem looks cool.

Seriously they had WORLD'S FINEST and they went with Batman v Superman...ugh. Who takes these decisions?

Edited by UltimateSMfan

So World's Finest or World's Finest: dawn of justice was too complicated huh....They're really stressing this fight even though for 70 years prior Superman and batman were known as the world's finest. Damn this post Injustice era when Supes vs Bats is such a hot topic (personally i'm getting sick of it). I do like the logo though, actually no, the 'S' looks really dark. Don't dare batmanize Superman!!! Oh God...

What does Batman serve to the people?

Justiceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Cool logo, don't like the name.

World's Finest would have been perfect from the studio that gave us titles like The Dark Knight and Man of Steel.

Hah, Batman gets top billing in a Superman sequel.

Also, this title is terrible. Seriously. World's Finest. It's not that hard, guys.

Edited by The_Tree

OK then.

Posted by Nightwing_Beyond

I understand why they didn't go with World's Finest. The phrase "World's Finest", means nothing to the mainstream non comic reader audience. I suppose they chose Dawn of Justice to allude to the fact that this movie builds to the Justice League although it is a little bit on the nose for my taste. I dig the new logo though. I especially like the scratches under the Bat logo.

What does the "v" stands for anyway?

I'm loving the logo, though...

Edited by The Mast

People are literally so stupid that they have to have titles like this now.

Posted by jwalser3

Eh, it's okay. Simple Superman/Batman would be fine.

Posted by SavageDragon

People will be complaining about not using "Worlds Finest" as the title but look at it from a marketing tool. It's to the films financial benefit that they have the two biggest superhero draws in the title. "Worlds Finest" means nothing without the logo to most movie goers. "Batman V Superman", that tells people what they are getting and Dawn of Justice gets people excited for potential JL movie. (confirmed) Maybe a wonky title but no more wonky than many comic titles. Lookin at you Ultimate Universe the Ultimate Ultimates lol.

BVS Dawn of Justice is just too long. A plain "BvS" or "Batman Superman" or "World's Finest" or "Man of Steel: *insert cool title*" would all be good. But it is better than "The Superfriends"

eh.................

You might not like the title, but it's smart. Putting Batman as the lead in the title will attract non comic book fans, which is what the majority of the movie goers will be who see this film.

The sub title is generic as sin.

Just what I was going to come here and say

The sub title is generic as sin.

We can't all have snappy titles like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, can we?

Batman v Superman. In which Batman sues Superman for the cost of all damages he caused to Metropolis. The film ends with them all learning the true meaning of christmas and Superman grows a beard and becomes SuperSanta to all the little boys and girls and Batman learns to be less Scrooge-like.

Edited by fil123

whens the last time worlds finest actually meant batman and superman

Posted by Saren

But yeah, Batman v. Superman sounds like Bruce is taking Clark to court. If you thought that fight couldn't get any less fair, it just did.

Cue superman fanboys complaining batman has the top billing in the name.

Good enough. Looking forward to seeing trailers and cast photos in the coming weeks/months.

Pretty funny that superman doesn't even get top billing in his movie.

All I can think to express my feelings for the title is.... OBJECTION!

People have to understand from a marketing stand point the title will attract people to see it. It doesnt matter much to myself, but the casual, non comics book fan its a title that will be remembered.

Posted by dadarkknight36310

Batman gets top billing because he is the one that is probably going after Superman. I always felt Man of Steel was really a DC Presents sort of film. I never felt like it was a going to be a Superman only franchise, I felt it was more of a DCU franchises.

Posted by Lone_Wolf_and_Cub

Obviously Batman had prep before the movie was finished and found a way to get his name top-billing over Supes in his own sequel.

Or The Wolverine.

We can just stop calling this a Superman sequel now right? Avengers wasn't an Iron Man, Thor or Hulk sequel.

No movie has ever made me as nervous as this one. I'm on edge all the time waiting for news lol god damn I need to start drinking!

Posted by SanoHibiki

So not even Batman/Superman or Superman/Batman (not even going to mention Worlds’ Finest), no, it’s Batman v Superman… Okeeyyyy…

Sub-title is awesome actually.

Kind of hating the main title though. Why just one little "v?" Looks weird.

I cannot believe they actually have a "vs" in the freakin title... let alone Supes doesn't even have top billing in his own sequel. While I am still excited as hell for the movie, this hit me about as hard as hearing Ben Affleck was going to be Bats.

Posted by SHAZAM117

Really had my heart set and hoping they would have used "Worlds Finest" somewhere in the title :-/....

I am loving the "Dawn of Justice" subtitle tho!

World's Finest: The Dawn of Justice would've been perfect imo

Posted by ccraft

Awesome title imo, glad they didn't do World's Finest. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, man I loved this title, you have the big fight and a tease for Justice League. Lets be realistic here, this is more than a MOS sequel now, so lets not complain about it.

I was hoping it would be called Man of Steel: The Dark Knight Returns, heard it on AMC movie talk and it just sounds awesome.

Yeah, this annoys me as well. If you want Batman's name first, don't call it a Superman sequel....
