One of the coolest Top Cow comics by far has to be 'Magdalena,' the story of a woman who is a descendant of Mary Magdalene, and acts as the protector of the Catholic Church whilst wielding the "spear of destiny." It looks like the one of the many versions of Magdalena will be making it to the big screen. Rumors had circulated around the idea of the character's concept being developed into a motion picture, and now it has been confirmed with Valhalla Motion Pictures and Platinum Studios standing behind the film's production. According to The Hollywood Reporter, none other than Top Cow's Marc Silvestri himself will be executive producer to the film which has also obtained both a director in Ryuhei Kitamura (Midnight Meat Train), and screenwriter in Holly Brix.
This is fantastic news for the film's development which already has the names of both Jenna Dewan (Step Up) as well as Luke Goss (Hellboy II) attached to the film. What do you guys think? I feel like the really cool thing about Magdalena is that she is a different kind of Superhero. I wonder if we will see any Witchblade references in the film. Are you guys excited?
