M. Night Shyamalan's "Unbreakable" Sequel?

Director M. Night Shyamalan discusses the possible sequel to his first superhero movie

As comic book fans, many if not most of you have probably watched M. Night Shyamalan's film starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson Unbreakable. If you haven't, you most definitely should being as it is quite possibly one of the best "superhero movies" ever made. Rumors had circulated that Shyamalan wanted to turn the film into a trilogy, but we haven't heard much of anything about the film since October of last year when the the prospect of a comic adaptation of the film was thrown around, and we got to see some of Alex Ross' sketch interpretations.
In a recent press event with MTV news, Shyamalan disclosed that he would still love to release a sequel to the Unbreakable film.
“I don’t know where all the parties are in the world. Sam [Jackson] is like ‘Mr. Comic Book’ now. And Bruce, I don’t know what he’s up to. I don’t know where Disney’s at in their head and what kind of movies they’re up for making. But yeah, I love that movie.”
Samuel L. Jackson has also expressed an interest in "revisiting his Unbreakable character." I wonder whether Bruce Willis would consider participating in the film. I know I would love it if they all came back for a sequel. What do you guys think? Did you see the first Unbreakable film? Are you excited about the prospect of a sequel?

I loved that movie and would love to see a sequel if Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis and M. Night Shyamalan worked on it.

Unbreakable was an amazing film. I loved it. I actually need to get the wife to sit down and watch it she has never seen it. I really hope this sequeal happens. It would be great to see it pick up where they left off.

Unbreakable I'm sorry, but was one of the worst piece of trash movies I've ever seen, IN MY OPNION!,  The whole scene where his kid was upset that his dad couldn't be hurt and wanted to shoot him, was Re Tard ED, " WE DONT SHOOT OUR FRIENDS"

I always liked the idea of this being a trilogy.  I was soooo pissed that it never happened.  While anytime we get word on this, I want to get excited but I just wonder if a sequel will ever happen.

I laughed out loud at that part.

This is really wierd, because I watched "the Sixth Sense" Tuesday night, "Unbreakable" last night, and I'm watching "Signs" tonight. So seeing the movie, and then this less than a day later is a strange coincidence...

But I liked the movie. I felt like it had an idea where it was going and what the theme was going to be, and it became clear at the end, but it had a little trouble getting there. Despite that, it still came through for me. The one thing I would have done away with was the whole thing at the end that talks about what happened to Mr. Glass. It would have been more interesting if it left you hanging.
I didn't know that it had so much comic stuff in it beofre I saw it, and watching the special featues with Eisner, Denny O'Neil, Alex Ross, and Miller (who really came off as a creep) was fantastic.

So I would love to see a sequel, especially if it had Jackson (who I can't wait to see as Nick Fury) and Poncho Man.

Man, I'd be so excited if this was for real. Favorite comic book movie ever.

Sweet!  The first rocked.  It is most definitely one of the best superhero movies of all time.  It was one of Shyamalan's better movies.  The big question is who will be playing Bruce's part if he goes south?  That will make or break this one.

Michael Chiklis, of course.

I believe a squeal would be very interesting. The original was great and setting up a stronger conflict (like some actual fighting) would be awesome just as long as it stays in the movie's theme.

Little known secret, when I was teaching, I'd show this movie at the end of the year in my AP Statistics class after the AP Exam was done.  I felt it was a movie that deserved to be seen.

You should have received a Teacher of the Year Award for that one.

Unbreakable is beyond great.  I'd not seen until my brother and his wife bought it for me for my birthday a few years ago and I was blown away.  Can't believe I'd missed it at the theatre, but it's a def must see for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I had never bothered to watch this movie when I would see commercials for it being shown on USA or when it cam out in theatres. However, a year ago I took an American Superheroes class at UCI where we watched and discussed the movie. I did enjoy the movie, but I don't feel I would want to see this movie receive a sequel. I felt Unbreakable is a nice stand alone film not in need of further elaboration.

way to late to do a sequel and i wonder if its cause he really wants to pick up where the story left off or because THE HAPPENING SUCKED!

Actually I did get one before but I don't think it was because of Unbreakable.  Maybe 'cuz I also showed Ferris Bueller?

Well, Unbreakable had that best left unexplored vibe... A sequel would have to be an action film, but the main character was not an action guy. The whole story was built off of suspense, when that's gone, you have a guy who can take a hit and that's in the most basic of action superheros. Unbreakable is better admired on its own, and learned from for future superhero films.
