Have a laugh, on me!
It seems that for obvious reasons, Disney's buyout of Marvel Entertainment has managed to cause quite a stir with both fans of the 5,000 acquired characters as well as lovers of popular culture in general. Whether the deal was in fact a good thing is still difficult to say, and is something we more than likely will not be able to tell for several number of years. However, looking at it from an outside perspective (completely removing oneself as a fan of Marvel comics,) may in fact make it easier for many of you to swallow. This kind of a deal happens all the time to smaller companies in the business world. At the end of the day creativity and art are created so that they can be bought. I remain positive, however, that at least for both Marvel as well as Disney, this is fantastic news. What this might mean for a company like BOOM! Studios and the future of their Disney titles, however, is a different story entirely.
So once everyone is finished freaking out, you should all probably try to laugh. If you haven't laughed yet today, then here's your chance. Check out the various cartoon images that fans and members of the comic book industry have created from all over the internet and remember what Tom Hagen said in 'The Godfather,' "it's business, it's not personal." Enjoy!'
