Lady Pendragon Preview/Review

Pilot Season
Pilot Season

The latest PILOT SEASON issue hits the stands this Wednesday.
Are there any Lady Pendragon fans here?  I noticed that there are some issues in her different volumes added here but they aren't too fleshed out.
Review:

I've never read a single issue of Lady Pendragon before so I had no idea what to expect.  This issue does an excellent job of explaining everything to us about her and how she came about.  I have to say I like the whole, sword found on Mars embedded in a rock thing.

The problem for me was as it goes through re-capping her origin, it then jumps to the present day.  Right in the middle of a battle.  Where as it was pretty cool seeing folk on dragons fighting jet fighters, I didn't even know there were dragons in Lady Pendragon's "world."  This may be from me not having read any issues before.  I didn't know there was this battle against those who use magic.  As a pilot issue, that could be a problem for new readers of Lady Pendragon (like myself).

The art was really nice.  Cool effects were used showing the magic being used.  Plus you get some blood and guts courtesy of her sword.  Nice.

It was a good issue but I have to wonder what it's chances are of getting "picked up" for a full season.  I do want to see what happens next but I'll have to see what the other Pilot Season issues are like.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

Overview:

A direct descendant of King Arthur and Lady Guinevere revives magic in the modern-day world, but is conflicted when she discovers her doing so may have done more harm than good. Filled with nods to Arthurian legend and a fantastic dragon battle scene unlike any other, the issue is drawn by Singapore-based artist Eru of Imaginary Friends Studios and features a beautiful painted cover by Star Wars and Indiana Jones movie poster artist Drew Struzan!
