Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci, the writing/producing juggernaut behind those big, big movies have recently gained the rights to produce IDW’s series LOCKE & KEY through their deal at Dreamworks studios. That’s according to Latino Review’s Deep Throat-style informant, Pinche Taco, at least. Prior to this, the thing had been languishing in development hell at Dimension Films for about two years.
The series is written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez and here’s the official synopsis from IDW…
If reading that synopsis doesn’t do it for you, here are the words set to creepy music and motion panels in IDW’s official teaser trailer.
Spooky stuff.
I hadn’t heard of this series before this announcement, so I can’t comment too much about the title. Pinche Taco’s colorful description of the plot (which is definitely worth a read) says that the story’s set in the fictional town of Lovecraft, Massachussets and you can definitely sense the sinister fingerprints of good ol’ HP in that trailer already. I’m sure there’s all manner of gothic horror, forbidden rooms, frayed edges of sanity and probably some unfathomably evil extra-dimensional forces for good measure, in this comic.
