Kickstarter Alert: Seth Kushner Was a SCHMUCK

Seth walks readers through his dating life, a decade ago, with this all-star indie artist line-up

Almost everyone has gone through a hard break-up, and it's hard to get back into the dating scene. This happened to award winning photographer Seth Kushner, but he decided to take those experiences and put them together in a semi-autographical webcomic called SCHMUCK. Now, Kushner has a Kickstarter page to help make this webcomic become a fully published book.

Here's some details from the Kickstarter page:

SCHMUCK is a 168-page trade paperback autobio graphic novel about one man’s awkward coming-of-age-quest to find love in New York City, written by SETH KUSHNER with design by ERIC SKILLMAN, forward by JONATHAN AMES and art by 22 great cartoonists.

Premise: It was soon after the turn of the new millennium and I was in my late 20s and I'd just been dumped by the girl I loved. My graphic novel, SCHMUCK chronicles the period after the dumping and the ensuing cascade of blind dates, Internet hook-ups, and comically tragic situations I endured with the hopes of finding “true love.”

“Schmuck is a very personal story for me,” said Kushner. “It's based upon a period of my own life when I was dumped by my girlfriend and while depressed, I went on a personal journey of blind dates, Internet connections, break-ups, etc., all in hopes of finding the then abstract concept of my one true love. Along the way, I endured many painful, comical, tragic and comically tragic situations, and it's those on which the story mainly focuses. Though it falls under the category of ‘memoir,’ the names have been changes to protect the innocent, and the guilty.”

For only $5, you can get a digital copy of the 168-page trade paperback. One of the coolest rewards is at the $250 mark where aside from a physical copy of the book, you get a photography lesson from Kushner who has been published in The New Yorker, Time, Sports Illustrated, and many other notable publications. There's lots more to see, so make sure to check out Kushner's full Kickstarter page for all the details
