So the all out fight heroes vs villains that happened in New York will happen in the villains' base in the movie. I just hope it will be just as satisfying

Millar better edit out that rape scene

love jim voice

This is amazing and I'm excited as hell, but it almost looks like the epic finale battle was going to take place in a warehouse and not in the streets. That was one of my favorite parts of the novel, seeing everybody clash with police and parents all around trying to get control back.

Jim Carrey looks like he's doing his best to not ruin this. Way to act, broseph.

I really enjoyed the first movie, but having found out about that disgusting moment in KA2, I'm really off of Millar. I've read that they "sanitized" that part out of the film but honestly, the whole notion of supporting a guy who thinks it's okay to handle rape so nonchalantly really gets to me. Made me decide not to read the books, and I'm now on the fence about the movie despite the fact that a month ago I'd likely have been all over this.

I'd agree. I liked the first Kick-Ass book because it was ridiculous in a very Mark Millar way without leaning so hard on the shock value the way that some of his other creator owned stuff like Wanted did. Then he went and put that in the second book. I still quite like the second book for the most part, but that scene in particular was pretty distasteful.

I love that The Motherf*cker's (we're not allowed to non-bleep his name, right?) mask is so clearly an S&M mask he found somewhere.

So amazing cannot wait

Jim Carrey is definitely the salesman in this trailer. *stands in line*

Unavailable for my location, great.

YES YES YES AND HELL YES!

Love the 1st movie and the comics are great - this looks to be absolutely top notch and KICK ASS (of course).

I really like Matthew Vaughn, and I really like the Kick Ass 2 comic, but the first movie I found to be underwhelming, and this sequel just looks flat-out terrible. Mark Millar's humor comes from a very dark place, and although this film franchise is just as violent and foul mouthed as Millar's work, it plays everything for laughs, when sometimes that just isn't the point. On a side note, the actors have aged too much to fit the comic characters they are supposed to be, but that really is the least of the problems I have with this trailer.

I just hope the studio heads put their feet down on this. Cause if you remember his interview back in may Millar seemed pretty adamant about all the gruesome scenes being in the movie

There are some very controversial scenes in the Kick-Ass 2 comic book. Will it have to be toned down for the screen?
"Every horrible scene in the book will be in the film. The c**t line in the first one, everybody said 'there's no way you're getting that in the movie', but it happened and it's the same thing with this. Everybody is saying 'you can't have a gang rape scene with supervillains' and 'you can't have the dog's head cut off', but every single one of those scenes will go in it."

@akbogert: Having read the comic in question, I don't think there was anything nonchalant about the way Mark Millar handled the rape. It's one of those many moments in Kick Ass and Kick Ass 2 that unlike the film, lets you know that the stakes are real and makes you question whether Kick Ass is really a hero, or just a dumb selfish kid who has gotten in way over his head.

Posted by akbogert

@nappystr8: I read the scene too. And using rape as a motivator of another character is disgusting. Did Millar take time to deal with the severe emotional and psychological trauma that Katie Deauxma, as a rape victim, will have to deal with? Or was it simply a plot point that was only interesting in how it affected her (not even really) boyfriend?

Posted by Onemoreposter

Something about that little girl calling people cocksuckers b4 blowing them away fills me with great joy.

Posted by Or35ti

So psyched it's insane.

Posted by nappystr8

@akbogert: That's a totally fair point. The way I interpreted your post, it sounded like you had based your opinion on word of mouth. I thought I was giving you information you didn't have, but it's clear your criticism is well thought out. I still think it is a scene that serves the story, but I absolutely see your argument as well.

Wow this looks like its going to be amazing! Has such a Kill Bill-Tarantino feel to it that you know its going to be...well...kick @$$! Is it June yet??

Can't wait!

so they got a little money. the cinematography is much better and gorgeous but it doesnt work for this film. im not into the dark and gritty stuff usually but it worked for this film. with all the lighting and the campy dialogue in this trailer i can see they have toned down a lot from the previous movie and they are making it seem (at least from this trailer with all of the jokes) this is more a comedic movie and not to be taken serious and that is a shame because the first movie was great for what it was. still will watch it for chole but only as a rental.

side note i love that scene with hit-girl on top of the van. she is modeling herself after angelina jolie and i can so see that there. she was channeling her inner salt lol. how do they make aaron look so dorky and young for this movie? he was fine in savages but here back to the dorky, unassuming nerd i first introduced to him as. part of it is his mannerisms and that nasally voice he does

It got pushed to August 16 not June 28 any more. Shucks!

I hated Kick-Ass 2 (the comic book). It was just senseless violence and how-far-can-we-really-take-this nonsense.

But the film? Yeah, it does look entertaining, if only for how incredible Jim Carrey sounds. And I did adore the first film.

Posted by akbogert

@nappystr8: Yeah, I happened to have access to the books, and curiosity got the better of me and I went and found the scene itself (as well as the confrontation later) and while the depiction itself could've been far worse, the notion of choosing rape as a motivator for a protagonist just rubs me incredibly the wrong way. There are many less insensitive ways Millar could have used to show the real danger of Kick-Ass's actions, to send him a calling card. The fact that the heaviness of rape doesn't seem to have been properly handled at all suggests to me that it was less thought-out than it ought to have been, and was more Millar saying, "Hm, I've got castration, beheadings, what else can I throw into this book? Maybe kill his girlfriend? NO WAIT, GANGBANG! That's good."

Posted by EnSabac

Thank you for the Non US link. Kick Ass 2 looks to be living up to the comic even if they don't keep it 100% accurate due to the extreme nature of some of the more drastic scenes I'm in.

Looks good!

Loved the first one. But I don't like that they barely look like kids in this trailer. Father Time strikes again.

Eh, didn't love the first but this one looks distant.
