'Justice League: War' Animated Movie Details Released

Come see what story DC's next animated film will be based on!

When it comes to DC's animated flicks, you should absolutely be excited for whatever they throw our way next. Their track record is superb and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (which is up next) definitely looks solid. While that technically isn't out yet (releases July 30th), we're already looking beyond that and to the next film: Justice League: War. So, what'll that be about? Gary Miereanu took to Twitter and announced it'll be based on Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's first New 52 story in JUSTICE LEAGUE. Gary also revealed Jason O'Mara will voice Batman and Shemar Moore will be the voice of Cyborg in the movie.

An animated movie about the Justice League forming to take on an invasion from Darkseid? Um.. yes, please! Consider us extremely excited for this one.

I can't wait for this, JL Origins was pretty epic.

why ppl so upset that Bruce show Hal his identity? The context of what happened was understandable, stop raging guys lol

Sounds interesting, I'll watch it. But can we at least stray away from making Justice League animated movies and focus on others? Like I want to see an animated Aquaman movie or watch a movie of the Teen Titans with the Judas Contract storyline... sadly, the idea got dropped.

Flash point was Fantastic so I hope this is.

@lvenger: I am talking only animation-wise not story-wise.
also there is a Flashpoint Paradox trailer and some pics.
Have you seen superman and cyborg they are ridiculous.

Idk... This wasn't that great a story. There wasn't much story in the arc to begin with.

My thoughts exactly. Don't understand all the "awesome sauce" comments when it's based off a story which is well known for its mediocrity. Would have much rather seen a Grant Morrison JLA story.

Plus, do we really need to see this again?

Agreed. Unfortunately, its Johns calling all the shots in creative over at DC and as such we're going to be subjected to his mediocrity in all forms of medium for years to come. I just hope with Nolan running the DC live-action film department, he'll keep Johns grubby little figures out of that pie.

While this might be a happy addition to some people's DC animated collection, I find it hard to believe that there was anyone actually clamoring for this adaptation. Outside of the corporate offices at DC and Warner that is. Geoff Johns is inarguably one of the greatest comic writers that ever lived; but he has so many good stories they could choose from over this arc which is mediocre AT BEST.

My body is ready for this.

This car toon should conpare to the mass destruction level of the 'man of steel" movie. I'm still in amazment of the nonstop action in that. Love it!

Posted by Smurfboy

Would've been nice if the film lasts longer than just 75min. How about 90 to 95 min? That'll be nice.

Posted by Sleepbutnodream15

Lot of f***king whiners here again. I'm even more surprised that there aren't more people threatening to burn all of their DC comics because Kevin Conroy isn't voicing Batman.

If the schedule is supposed to be 3 movies per year, with the subjects usually being Superman, Batman, and Justice League, why is the 2013 schedule all released during the first half of the year? Are we getting a 4th movie this year? Why would there be 2 Justice League movies in one year? This doesn't make sense. And if they're rebooting their Animated Universe, does that mean we will never get movies based on pre-flashpoint storyarcs again?

@thetimestreamer: since it's based of your opinion only ill give you that. but keep in mind you suck at being a reviewer, and if you rely watched them both you will see how much iron man 3 copied tdkr.

Yup. I know there have been more Batman animated movies than any other but there are plenty of Jeph Loeb, Grant Morrison and Scott Snyder stories that are leagues ahead of what Johns does (I'm on a role with puns today). I'm still surprised we haven't seen a Kingdom Come animated movie.

What exactly was wrong with this arc? A little fast, but that's not so bad nowadays. I'm asking because I enjoyed it. This and Morrison's runs are the only JL I have read. I found them different but both good. Johns tries to keep it simple and that's something I can appreciate. Morrison is superior of course, but I'm waiting until John's run catches up to truly compare.

This is the third Geoff Johns story they've adapted. I get that he's DC's cash cow, an that he's chief creative office but c'mon! Adapt someone else's work. Or at least adapt some of Johns' good work. This was probably the very worst work of his career.

@patrat18: you are crossing into dumb territory. to me, i am the best review because i know what i like or dislike. taste should not and will not be questioned. logic can be applied but you can still like a bad movie. and i couldnt watch tdkr all the way because it is boring and full of plot holes. HUGE plot holes. for its intended 'realism'.

Edited by 34g3f3ert3t43

@reignmaker: I get ya, the Bruce part I can see for sure especially with him randomly telling Hal who he really is. Opinions respected!

Posted by Ninjablade09

I'm excited because I really enjoyed the arc. Thought it was good. The only thing I'm iffy about is the cast. I don't get why they just don't use people they already have. I'm not talking about using the DCAU cast over and over again( I'm sick of listening to Conroy Batman!), I'm talking about like the cast of Young Justice, or other DC animated movies.

Edited by Lvenger

@squalleon: Yeah I did. Animation was better than expected for me actually.

Posted by flameboy298

HELL YES :)

Posted by M1cAL

Cool. there'll be other DC movies, so if they wanna take a crack at new52 i have no complaints (ppl should've seen this coming at some point). as long as the animation/character designs are proper, i'm good.

Posted by patrat18

@thetimestreamer: exactly that right there tell me in my opinion you suck at reviewing movies. tdkr was mainly on story and less action, which would mean less batman. im pretty sure what you wanted to see was more action and more batman thus ignoring the message in the movie and seeing how great of a story is was.

@patrat18: if i have to force myself, to not enjoy myself to watch a movie, i shall not watch it to the end. i have seen the extended cuts of the lord of the rings. if the story is good, i will glue my a** to the seat. tdkr is not worth it. there is no message in the movie and the story is pathetic with huge plot holes.

I'm interested and yea the arc was a little weak but I still liked it. Wish there could have been a couple more issues to flesh out the groups relationship, Apokolips and Darkseid.

ps

I thought there were going to be more stories from the past, why not?

I want a X-Men animated Movie DAMMIT!

Imagine if they make Avengers Arena into a animated movie. That $#!% would be funny.

I thought this was planned to be the plot of the Live-Action Justice League movie. Not an animated movie.

Hey, so, I've already managed to see the Flashpoint movie (a latin spanish dub version was leaked a couple days ago), and not to spoil anything, but the movie's awesome, it managed to take such a weak comic like Flashpoint and adapt it into a beast of a movie (just like with Under The Red Hood), if they were able to do such a thing I'm confident they'll use their magic with this arc as well, though it's gonna take a whole lot of magic to turn one of the most underwhelming JL story arc's of all time into something decent, I have my hopes up. And no, they've already said that this isn't them rebooting the DC Animated Movies Universe into the New 52 (mainly because there is no such Universe to begin with), so there will still be Pre-Failpoint based movies, while remaining the possibilities of New 52 stories as well.

Also, inb4 You Are A Pirate.

Only noobs who never read a good justice league would be jumping up with joy, for johns first arc.

The guy who voices Cyborg is a grown *** man, which makes me think he won't be a teen. Good.

The guy who is voicing Batman is brothers with the guy who defended George Zimmerman. UGH.....

But Cyborg is a teen....

Hope the art style looks nicer than on Flashpoint. Also hope they make some serious changes to the original story....for starters, Batman revealing his identity? Big no-no.

lol but justice league SUCKED (save for shazam backup) until issue 20 have no interest in that. just give us a teen titans movie already and then we can do a justice league dark and a justice league of america movie so we can have a trinity war movie

I WANT Cyborg to be older by 5-10 years. Instead of being a high school football player, I want him in the NFL. He should be the same age as his team mates instead of being a junior member, which I hate.

And changing him into an NFL player doesn't change the story much--hardly at all really. It would barely change one scene. But it does bestow more respect on him IMO. I really hate that scene in which Hal calls him "kid." IMO, if you're going to make him a big dog, then make him a big dog and treat him like the others.

And him being the young guy isn't that important when you consider that he was in his 30s before flashpoint and no one cared. He can have a youthful personality without being babysitted by his team mates is all I'm saying. If anyone should be the amateur, I would prefer it be Flash like in the animated series, but I don't even want him to be a teenager.

By making Cyborg so young, you make him Batman's pet because he hasn't developed real world confidence or exposure, which is one of the things I dislike about how he has been handled in the New 52.

@entropy_aegis: have watched justice league flashpoint paradox? man!!! the animated movie in my opinion is the best movie i have ever seen in my life. way better than other dc animated movies. go watch it.

Posted by Mezmero

I'm at the point where I just expect every DC animated movie to be good to great. I have no doubt I'll like this but I'd rather hear about what the next big animated series will be. I don't think Beware the Batman is going to be that break out hit they want it to be and Teen Titans Go, while very funny, is also kind of a trifle. I personally would like to see a Justice League Dark series to explore some lesser known characters on the mystical side of the DCAU. In any case I'll take all the Justice League cartoons I can get since Avengers cartoons are sucking again with Assemble.

@frogdog: I was originally pumped for this. I thought a fun story; not amazing. But well played sir. That was the most horrible moment in the new 52. Hopefully they omit that part out. But I do want to see Batman taking away Hal's ring!!! That panel was great. Mmmm. now thinking about it maybe Hal is that self centered.
