'Justice League: War' Animated Movie Details Released

Come see what story DC's next animated film will be based on!

When it comes to DC's animated flicks, you should absolutely be excited for whatever they throw our way next. Their track record is superb and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (which is up next) definitely looks solid. While that technically isn't out yet (releases July 30th), we're already looking beyond that and to the next film: Justice League: War. So, what'll that be about? Gary Miereanu took to Twitter and announced it'll be based on Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's first New 52 story in JUSTICE LEAGUE. Gary also revealed Jason O'Mara will voice Batman and Shemar Moore will be the voice of Cyborg in the movie.

An animated movie about the Justice League forming to take on an invasion from Darkseid? Um.. yes, please! Consider us extremely excited for this one.

@reignmaker: The arc wasn't the best but what is so bad about that scene? A little awkward, yes but I think Hal being completely oblivious to who Wayne is, is kinda funny.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

But the funny thing is that Cyborg will get more development here than in any of his appearances in the Justice League comic.

Hell yea! I can't wait for this,it look's like some of the Justice League have a mental control over them and Superman has some kinda cosmic electromagnetic hold over his body and Batman has to rescue everyone this is gonna be really good!

Is DC deliberately trying to piss fans off?

Edited by Mangakid1995

If the success of this means branching out and doing solo stories about characters other than Batman and Superman then I'm all for it.

It is about time to see the new 52 era being introduced in other media. but if the quailty remains the same this should be HUGE

Posted by New_World_Order

Awesome. Only of Marvel would do the same with the Avengers.

I didn't like the story, but I'll still get the movie. Hopefully, they'll make some changes kind of like how they did with the JL: Doom movie.

This means were one step closer to NIGHT OF THE OWL MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disappointed that Batman isn't being voiced by Kevin Conroy.

@wolverine08: yea because iron man 3 was such a good movie.

I hope the next one will be Batman: Court Of Owls or Red Hood And The Outlaws.

@squalleon: of course the animation will be good. dc animation never sucked before.

@medulaoblaganda: I don't know.
Superman vs the Elite and the previews from Flashpoint paradox were pretty bad.

So Flashpoint is, in fact, going to reboot the Animated Cinematic Universe. I'm ok with it. I'm glad they got Brainiac in before they did this though.

I don't think it'll reboot it. DC has said that each movie is meant to be taken as it's own story and not part of a giant story or universe. They've had plenty of movies that didn't relate to each other: All-Star Superman, The Dark Knight Returns, Justice League The New Frontier, Batman Under The Red Hood.

As far as I recall, the only cohesive animated universe they had was with Batman The Animated Series to Superman to Justice League to Justice League Unlimited to Batman Beyond to Project Zeta and to Static Shock (they have all had crossovers with each other).

I hope there is not as much of Geoff Johns Batman bashing in it. I hate it and its out of character for Batman to just take Hals stupid jokes. Also, I hate douchebag Hal in JL. Why does Johns write him so different than in GL?!

Posted by theTimeStreamer

@patrat18: way better than dark knight rises.

@johnny_spam:

As long as they fix that horrible asshole hal jordan. I mean his personality was sooo bad in that arc. Totally dif from his solo series

Posted by Black_Claw

@martyyy15: there was not one moment in that story where I didn't feel like punching Hal in the face.

If you've followed comics for any length of time, you'd know that the moment was completely out of character for both Bruce and Hal. If this was Johns' only grief I'd give him a pass, but his JLA stuff just isn't very good. Obviously there's some subjectivity there, so if you liked it I guess that's fine. Most of us didn't.

@black_claw:

I know right. ANd he is supposed to be a real heroic guy. Plus batman having to remind him to concentrate like 3 times is so wrong. Dude is a GL he should not have to be remined of that. And lets not forget his motives for being a hero, just to get praise....AHHH What happend to sinestro corps and blackest night hal

@wolverine08: ok so x men origins,x3 was such a good movie wolverine fan boy if you don't like it why comment?

Posted by patrat18

@thetimestreamer: and yet your cover photo is batman??? look on rotten tomatoes to see which is better,in fact make a thread and see how wrong you are.

Posted by OutlawRenegade

The guy who voices Cyborg is a grown *** man, which makes me think he won't be a teen. Good.

The guy who is voicing Batman is brothers with the guy who defended George Zimmerman. UGH.....

If you watched the after credits for "Justice League:The Flashpoint Paradox" you'd know this was coming ha.

Are you sane? Yes, I love Wolverine, but I'm not a fanboy. All I said was that DC should make more live action films.

The story itself was pretty rushed in my opinion but I'm really excited to see it animated

Posted by Kal'smahboi

@idontlikebirds: That's true. I didn't consider those elseworlds stories. I wasn't aware they had said that each movie was supposed to be taken as stand-alone.

Posted by patrat18

@wolverine08: im not your saying it like dc animated movies suck when they are badass

Wait when did they preview Flashpoint Paradox? How have you seen it? And squalleon, Superman vs The Elite is by far the best DC animated original IMO. Sure the animation wasn't the best but it made up for it in every other possible way.

Ehhhhhhhhhhh. Bring on a Martian Manhunter movie.

It makes me sad that Flashpoint is rebooting the DCAU. So many other stories they could have told.

Also Gregg, Flashpoint Paradox is out on the 20th on iTunes.

I have not read this arc as of yet but just the concept of making a JL origin movie is awesome.

I liked this arc. A lot of people complained about it, but I thought the story was a good. It's the rest of the JA stories that have sucked donkey dick after this one. I think it'll translate well onto film format. They did Michael Turner justice whent they made The girl from Krypton story, so I can see them doing Jim Lee justice as well, but the story was very fast paced. Even if the 1st 2 issues were a bit slow paced. The rest of the story took and this should be fun if they do it at a good enough length for the movie. I don't see why they couldn't. I'm excited.

Can I ask everyone a question, it's a question I am asking myself and can't seem to choose a side. Would you watch pre-52 stories with New 52 costumes and or designs?

I'm not sure, personally if the animated movies can go back to some of the pre-52 stories that would be great but it seems that are now pushing forward with New 52 designs. I think in the end I might be for example if they were to do a Green Arrow Year One story, I don't think it would bother me as much seeing new 52 outfit then the outfit he wears in that comic. What about the good old classic Batman story The Killing Joke with New 52 designs. Joker with his skin from his face hanging out, seems like it might bother me. What do you guys think?

Posted by theTimeStreamer

@patrat18: avatar photos mean nothing and the common consensus does not concern me. i am capable of judging movies on my own. unlike the fanboys or non-readers. or people with less than 2 neurons.

@black_arrow:

I could see this. I could see them doing Capullo's art well in animation. It would have to be like Batman Year One and have narraration in it for it to work tho. I thought it did in Year One, and I was surprisd they didn't have back for Dark Knight Returns. The only real problem I had with DKR was it didn't have an narration. It works in animated films.
