JMS Stars in THOR Movie

But who will he play?

We are living in a brave new world when Facebook updates make this kind of news, so keep that in mind the next time you’re posting about what you’re eating for breakfast. THE POWER IS IN YOUR HANDS! In this case, J. Michael Stracznyski posted on his public Facebook account that he has a bit part in the THOR movie.

 The real star of THOR.
 The real star of THOR.

So micro-blogs JMS…

One other piece of fun: I did a cameo on the new Thor movie. It was supposed to be just a ten second deal, but director Kenneth Branagh decided (against the evidence) that I can act, so he kept putting me in more bits. We'll see what ends up on the cutting room floor, but it was a lot of fun.

I can't comment on the role or anything specific to the story or characters out of deference to the production. All I can say is that it was something drawn from my tenure writing the Thor comic...so basically I've finally disappeared into my own narrative. Knew that would happen one of these days.

 Is that you, JMS?
 Is that you, JMS?

Wow… what started as a ten second cameo became a recurring bit part? That’s a “The kid stays in the picture” moment to make Robert Evans proud.  Forget your Cap casting and your GL casting, it’s time to pour some speculative grain out and get the rumor mill grinding. Who do you figure JMS will be playing? Will it be Eric “ Thunderstrike” Masterson? Or the giant, Sword of Doom-wielding demon Surtur? Maybe even a random onlooker on the street?

 Or is that you?
 Or is that you?

You know, even though my Dad’s a big fan, I’ve never gotten into BABYLON 5, but didn’t JMS show up a few times in that? I’d be really surprised if he doesn’t already have SOME experience in front of the camera. Among the many, many other projects he’s currently or previously involved in ( he’s writing Supes and WW now, if you missed it), he penned that memorable run on the Thunder god’s adventures with artist Olivier Coipel.   He’s already revealed that some of the plot is taken from, adding evidence to my suspicion that movie Thor’s look will be based on Coipel’s chain-mail redesign.
