Jamie Foxx Discusses Electro's Costume for 'Amazing Spider-Man 2'

Is the actor stepping into the original green and yellow design?

Electro's 616 costume isn't exactly the easiest piece of attire to translate to the big screen. So will we see Jamie Foxx squish into the bright and tight goofy costume or do they have something else in mind? BlackFilm had a chance to ask Jamie Foxx about the costume and it sounds like it might be more inspired by the Ultimate universe costume.

It won’t be green and yellow. It will be a different color. They (the producers) want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic bookie, so it won’t be green and yellow. They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happen. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff.
In the script, this villain is the first time it’s be written really, really well. Andrew Garfield and Marc Webb both commented on how great the script is, so it should be an exciting time.

"A liquid rubber?" This makes sense for Maxwell Dillon, but could this also be the very early stages of the symbiote? After all, it wasn't an alien in the Ultimate universe... it was created. But back to Electro. What are your thoughts on them apparently keeping a distance from the classic (and campy) 616 costume?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

There's said to be a comic stereotype that black guys always get electric powers.

Yeah I was just realizing that...

I don't know if it's a "stereotype" as much as it's just a weird pattern.

Irregardless, I'm looking forward to Foxx/Electro in the sequel

I, for the record, do in fact have electric powers.

Me Too!!

@Tyrannotaur: I thought that Spectacular Spider-Man was supposed to be the name of Spider-Man 4 if Raimi made it?

@Sammo21: Someone who apparently knows the guy who was cast to play Micheal Morbius, said the name o f the movie is Spectacular Spider-man. I dunno how true that is though.

@ClintsEvilTwin: yes, the movie allready sucks as much as hugh jackmans acting. but the games are pretty good, ok they have some gameplay issues, but the characters where very well written. particular lynch, but with foxx playing him, he's complete out of character.

Black = Electric powers is more than a "coincidence." There's waaaay too many for that. It's definitely a stereotype for some reason.
