Namor has Luke Cage totally outclassed.

But hey, it's cool to ignore power levels for the sake of entertainment, AMIRITE? ;)

Cage bragging does not mean he's going to beat Namor, or anywhere near it.

@Morpheus_: True, but so far, both of these teasers are the loud mouth Avengers kicking their asses with a kinda of a vein line.

@Cafeterialoca: The X-Men do have the Avengers at a disadvantage, power-wise, though. And it's possible that we'll get a few teasers only with Avengers having the last word, and there will be a round 2 just with X-Men doing the same.

Yeah. Prit-ty sure Namor would DESTROY Luke. Also pretty sure that the only Avengers that would even stand a chance against Namor would be Hulk and Thor.

@Morpheus_: Still, it kinda makes the Avengers look like jerks. They're invading Utopia, most likely going to blow it up in the process, and trying to get Hope, most likely to kill her. Have to say, the Avengers are coming across like assholes right now.

If by standing a chance you mean Thor and Hulk would wreck him, yeah, they would. Iron Man has stalemated and defeated Namor several times, too.

Namor can has super strength, can fly breathe under water and control sea life and decades of experiance. Luke Cage has super strength and unbreakable skin. Namor should wreck Luke even on the worst day of his life, especially since they are fighting in the ocean, where Namor is strongest! I hope the X-Men destroy the Avengers and I don't even like Cyclops' faction very much

Several assumptions in this post. The factual statements are that they will invade Utopia and that they will try to get Hope. Blowing Utopia up and "most likely" killing Hope is speculative at this point. Let's read the book first, and we can condemn them afterwards if they are in the wrong.

I get the idea that Hope isn't going to survive. Especially since the cover afterwards is Scarlet Witch being targeted. Just saying, if the Avengers' goal is killing a little girl, I'm going to flat out hate them through this event.

@Cafeterialoca: Cyclops intends to use the (for all intends and purposes) daughter of his son in order to control a cosmic entity of nigh unlimited power, supposedly "for the common good". I'm not seeing the X-Men side of things as particularly sympathetic, either. And I truly doubt Captain America, of all people, would want to kill Hope as anything but a last resort. There are several X-Men that would opt to kill her before he did.

@Morpheus_: Oh, I know that Cyclops' side is flawed, but I don't think the Avengers should be "the one and true answer". Frankly, I'll be extremely happy if the Avengers are wrong for once. They've been sitting on a high horse for some time now and something needs to rock their boat.

And don't get me STARTED on how much of a hypocrite Beast is. "Nightcrawler's death is on you Cyclops! You murdering psycho! Oh Wolverine! You're opening up a school? GREAT! You're even running the same X-Force too? Fine by me." I know people will get mad at me, but I wouldn't care if Beast died in this event.

@Cafeterialoca: The Avengers aren't really on a high horse. They've made lots of mistakes that resulted in major worldwide issues, their team got disbanded, they regrouped, they fought amongst themselves, split again, regrouped again, and now a bunch of braindead people even like Norman Osborn more than them. Is Marvel going to push the Avengers in a year where their film is coming out? Yes, of that I have no doubt, and it'd be silly of them not to. And Cyke's X-tinction team members spend waaaay too much time flexing their own muscles in front of a mirror and claiming how much better they are in comparison to the Avengers, while the Avengers have mostly not given a damn about them so far.

LOL, I like Beast, but I agree his reaction to Wolverine's X-Force was off-putting.

@Morpheus_: I just don't know. I never get the feeling that the Avengers are in any danger and just kinda are cruising by while other heroes have to go through much more crap. Maybe it's the way they're decompressed and stuff, but the Avengers seem to get off easy compared to the X-Men (who have had one of the biggest massacres ever with the School bus explosion) or even the Thunderbolts (Songbird had to live like a hobo through Dark Reign). I just don't sympathize with the Avengers cause they seem to get easy wins. Hell, look at their annuals. Wonderman beats them, and they get back up the same day and beat him. They just get back up again with little effort and beat him. I just want them to lose badly in AvX.

I also dislike the bias for Wolverine's side. He's doing a lot of mistakes, but oh, it's not a problem because he's not Cyclops' side. God, I dislike a lot of Marvel characters currently.

I find it hard to believe that Cage would ever get the drop on Namor. Ever. Especially in the water, Namor's element.

Still, looking forward to this despite some negative opinions regarding it all, it has me interested.

@Morpheus_: Umm... Sorry, but no. The X-Men weren't flexing their muscles in front of a mirror when Norman Osborn and his "bad guys win" agenda came stomping up on their front porch. On the contrary, while the rest of the heroic community had gone underground with their tail between their legs, Cyclops and the gang made Stormin' Norman look like a complete chump. Furthermore, they dealt with Bastion and Selene in follow up while the Avengers and the other heros were licking their wounds in the wake of Siege. Oh what's that? The heroic community got a small reprieve before Fear Itself? Not so for the X-Men. They didn't have the chance to recover from the war against the vampires before they dive into the fight against the Worthy. Surely a break after that, right? Nope. It was rime for the X-Men's version of Civil War. Oh look! The Phoenix Force is coming back to Earth! Maybe this is our chance to save our race! Nope, the Avengers, who's messes we've been helping with in addition to dealing with our own problems, are showing their gratitude by denying us this opportunity to fix all the junk we've been through. Sorry, but that's a doucher move. The least the Avengers can do is either help the X-Men try to succeed with their plan or stay the hell out of the way and let the Phoenix Force experts handle it on their own, but noooooo... I guess the Avengers just got bored flexing their muscles and needed something else to do...

I'm not sure your point has something to do with my point. Which is that Cyclops' current team persistently draws comparisons between themselves and the Avengers without apparent reason but the fact that they think they should. What the X-Men have been through or haven't been through (and they have been through a lot) is irrelevant to that attitude. They think they are better heroes? I'm OK with them thinking that, regardless of what my opinion about it might be. But they are overcompensating far too much with the snarky remarks and calling themselves "world's mightiest" or that "they've made the Avengers obsolete." More selflessness and less self-congratulating would be preferable.

@Cafeterialoca: I'd rank Genosha as much worse in comparison to a bus explosion. The X-Men are not only a team, they are a group of people fighting for survival, so in that light, they are always going to have it worse, all the more so since their overall number is so limited due to multiple events of the past seven years. I disagree that the Avengers get easy wins at least not all the time, though. And the team Wonder Man and the Revengers thrashed were the New Avengers, then Steve assembled the big guns and they took him down fast. If anything, I like the Avengers demonstrating this level of competence once in a while, because they rarely ever do. Just look at how easily Osborn is dismantling them in Avengers as we speak.

I've fallen behind with Wolverine and the X-Men so I can't really comment, but I liked that book a lot more than Uncanny.

@Morpheus_: But the New Avengers got back up and helped the Avengers in that annual. Seriously, it just undoes all tension. It makes the Avengers just seem like they can just ring up their big guns to win.

I know Wolverine and the X-Men is good, but I just can't stand the class. Especially since it pushes all the other X-Kids back for Idie, Broo, Kid Gladiator, Kid Omega and Genesis.

In the long run at the moment I am rooting for the Avengers I hate Cyclops he comes across to me as a raciest.

QFT. I wonder what Luke is thinking. He doesn't stand any chance of winning on land or water. Luke's strength is in the 25 tonne range whereas Namor is Class 100+. Pitting those two against each other is unfair really.

@Morpheus_: I guess I didn't come right out and say it, but I was basically saying that the X-Men haven't been talking themselves up in any sort of hollow vanity at all really. Instead, they've been letting their actions speak by going toe-to-toe with an army of Sinisters and a bunch of Celestials. Saying that they're the Earth's mightiest team of superheroes now, or that they've made the Avengers irrelevant isn't stemming from arrogant pride, but from a genuine problem. The Avengers not being able to sucessfully carry their part in the superhero community leaves a hefty burden of responsibility on the shoulders of the X-Men, who feel obligated to help the world at large, not just themselves. If anything, after everything that's happened lately, the Avengers, being the useless-mess-of-repeated-defeat-and-inability-to-be-self-sustaining that they've been lately, thinking they have any place getting involved in mutant affairs, especially after Children's Crusade, is a VERY high horse! Honestly, I'm usually the first to side with Cap on any and all issues and I also think Cyke is a massive tool, but it's reeeeeally hard for me not to find myself thinking the X-Men really have done a better job at the Avenger's job than the Avengers lately, while still handling their own issues. And they never should have had to! That said, the Phoenix Force has NEVER been an Avengers matter. It takes some kind of arrogant idiocy for them to assume they can step in and do a better job handling the Phoenix Force than the X-Men (unquestionably the experts on the subject mind you), when they're incappable of handling their own current stuff without the X-Men having to pick up the slack.

Namor is far superior to Luke Cage in every way. The only way for Cage to win is to have something that increases his powers greatly; depowers or Namor like Venom (Macgargan) did a few years backs; or have some highly sophisticated trap laid out. But if it's a straight up 1-on-1 hand to hand fight to the finish Namor wins especially if it's in the water.
