Is Flash Heading to the CW?

The channel allegedly has big plans for the character.

He may not have his own live-action film coming out in the near future (although, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is out now on blu-ray/DVD), but it looks like Flash could be racing his way towards a lot of appearances over at the CW. According to Deadline, Arrow's co-creators want to give the Justice Leaguer his very own show. But before that, they're allegedly going to introduce Flash in the next season of Arrow.

Deadline also says Geoff Johns will help write the potential show. Viners, what do you think about the speedster possibly appearing in Arrow and perhaps getting his own series? Could this be DC's way of familiarizing the general audience with more characters before taking a risk and using them on the big screen? There was a rumor that he'd get his own movie in 2016 or past that, after all. Only time will tell, I suppose. But in the meantime, I'm all for this as long as they bring their "A" game.

THAT would be SO AWESOME!!!

But is it going to be a clone of "The Blur"?

Edited by Saren

Huh. Figured Arrow was a no-powers universe.

I'd rather see a live action movie, despite how hard it is to pull off.

i will give it a go

Edited by ThePRez

so we are gonna get the justice league now like Smallville?

edit: just misread the news

Will be easy to do since Smallville used super speed all the time. It's apparently an easy power to do. And Barry's job would lend to a procedural starring someone like Scott Porter. But the speed effects on Smallville were not that great, Barry is bland, and there will be questions about whether or not the Barry on the show will be the one in the movie.

I'm going to reserve judgment but I doubt this will be a show as good as the ones on hbo, fx, or AMC. We are talking about the CW here, guys. On Arrow and Smallville, most of the acting is wooden and the sets look cheap. Damn my high standards!

I say yes

Arrow is an awesome show, but it's not where Flash should be put. He needs a big time budget and effects to portray him properly. He should be in a movie.

May not be anymore since Black Canary will be in season 2.

Exactly! Letting the Flash appear on Arrow wouldn't make much sense.

I'd also prefer a live action movie. There's a lot of mystery going on around Oliver and his family that makes it a perfect background story for the TV series. I don't see how the Flash could possible work as TV series unless there isn't a greater plot spanning over the entire season but then it would be boring in the first place. Maybe I'm lacking imagination here. A movie would be awesome though!

They could simply remove the Cry. Dinah is a capable martial artist without it, and she didn't have it for years at one point and still fought crime using sonic bombs in place of it.

@justthatkid: I think Man of Steel shows that superspeed can work without annoying amounts of bullet time. Not once in the whole movie was Slowmo used.

I will give it a watch. The old Flash show in the late 80's was not bad you know Mark Hamel as the Trickster.

@outlawrenegade: Those production values on HBO and the like are amazing. Imagine if WB actually pumped a bunch of money into their production

please be true

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttt. THAT costume in a THAT toned show.

Praise the heavens! Please, please, PLEASE make this happen! The Flash deserves this so much! He's so underrated and underestimated, everyone should know how awesome he is! Though... it's going to be more Barry... not sure how I feel about that... Still, it's The Flash, and that's great!

Posted by BatSupFan

I would love to see this and if they go through with it I hope it is a success!

Ive been thinking how they could bring the rogues to live action and i imagine theyd b small time crooks who form a kinda paramilitary unit relying on their numbers an unconventional weapons to catch the flash off guard

Well hopefully they can make Barry's personality less boring, if they ever get this show off the ground.

True. But it's gonna be weird for me seeing her without the canary cry.

Awesome! Maybe he could make some visits down to Kansas City (that's where I live:p). Central City or Keystone City (depending on which Flash) are only like 35 miles north of here.

SWEET!

So would The Flash tv show be in a shared universe with Arrow?

Edited by notoriousmistersims

sounds good to me i remember the old flash show i would prefer a movie only coz i like the flash would want to see him on the big screen but 10 or 20 eps of a flash show :)

Posted by The Stegman

So...what the f*ck happened to Wonder Woman?? Wasn't she supposed to get a show on the CW too??

Posted by TDK_1997

I prefer a movie rather than him appearing in Arrow.

Posted by Kal'smahboi

I really rather this not happen. I feel like they lucked out with Arrow. I don't think they'll do it again, especially with a super-powered character.

Posted by Smart_Dork_Dude

OH YEAH!!!!

Posted by BishopSummers

I love the Flash. But why do a TV show if they are going to do a movie? Oh well I'll at least check out the pilot. If it's good then great :)

Posted by Dernman

I rather it not happen if he has powers.

Posted by Justthatkid

I guess that could be used as example but flash's main power is his speed and what he can do with it. Then again if it was a origin movie he would be less experienced so I can see it possible for a enemy like Captain cold or Mirror master being able to cause him problems.

Will this pave way for a live action DCU on TV?

Edited by batmannflash

ehhh not a fan of live-action superhero tv shows. I'm fine with the ones that don't have powers: Arrow. But for someone like Flash, live action tv shows don't really impress me (Smallville). I would love a live-action movie and an animated tv show though!

Posted by patrat18

if this is to promote him for his 2016 movie ok,but if this is to take over and not give him his movie than no.

Posted by StMichalofWilson

It going to nice to see Barry's time to shine, but I still miss Wally

Posted by RustyRoy

I would rather see him in a live action movie. He deserves more than this.

Completely agree.

Barry isn't bland. Just because he isn't JLU Wally doesn't mean he can't be interesting. All the Flashes are light-hearted characters with senses of humor.

Edited by MartianManhunterIsBetterThanCyborg

I hate this idea. Absolutely hate it.

Posted by Skylynx

On the one hand - good for Flash I hope its an awesome show.

On the other- what the **** happened to the Wonder Woman show?

Posted by SpadesSlick

You have a good thing with Arrow CW, why are you risking blowing it up?

Flash needs a movie, not a live action show where the CGI is going to look spotty at best.

I don't want supers in Arrow. If this is just to introduce him and then he goes away when he gets his powers that's fine.

Edited by MartianManhunterIsBetterThanCyborg

To the overall idea of Flash getting a CW show:

Flash needs an animated TV show and a live action movie. He's the easiest to bring to the big screen.

God I hate WB so much right now. Marvel is getting Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Antman, and Thanos on the big screen before we can get Green Arrow, Flash, Atom, and Darkseid.

Posted by Shallbecomeabattoo

If Geoff is really on writing staff and oversees the series plot, I will have much more hope of it turning out right.

Only thing that really scares me is the frikking CW casting.

Posted by Grim

I think he deserves a show... but Arrow shouldnt be his introduction.

Posted by gohanman

It could be that Dr. Barry Allen is just a regular recurring character but then when the lightning strike he disappear from "Arrow" to spin off into the "Flash"

Posted by MrShway88

This might make me watch Arrow again.

Posted by SupBatz

I'd be more excited if it weren't CW...

Posted by 80sGangInfestedArcades

@the_stegman: I'm not sure what happend to the Wonder-Woman show but I heard they are gonna try and make a movie about her starring Megan Fox.
